The Queen Mary

Spending two nights on the Queen Mary was an amazing experience. The staterooms are clean and well maintained, considering that the ship is 80+ years old. All the natural wood (plastic was not common in the 1930's), and the elegant touches throughout the ship. Dining was a little pricey, but the food and service were great !. We even took several tours of this magnificent old ocean liner, and saw where Fred Astaire danced and Liberace played. Don't miss the evening "paranormal" tour. Wow!! I highly recommend for a fun weekend on this great "Lady" !!

Unique room, fun to be on the ship. Unique experience.

They were not kidding about how thin the walls are! You will literally feel like your sleeping with your next door neighbors. The tub is at a very uncomfortable point in the middle. The room is very cool, still the same. Only new thing is the flat screem tv. No ghost people! I stayed up till 3am with my fiance to catch any paranormal activities and nothing. It was raining hard while we stayed there and the whole boat had leaking parts with buckets in alot of the levels. Very good one time experience to see the old fashion queen mary.

Unique experience to stay and sleep on an old ocean liner. Room was roomy and comfortable. Loved the old fashioned touches

Not as maintained as it should have been. Rooms were old and didn't resemble the photos. Boilers on areas of the ship were not working and those areas had no heat or hot water. Average food for premium prices. Pluses- The history tour guide, Fernando was amazing, he had a passion for the ship's history. The wooden bulkheads were beautiful and the lobbies, salons, wedding chapel and other main rooms were incredible. It seems in my opinion, that possibly, the finances aren't there to keep the ship in pristene shape.

Great spot, right on the water.. felt like the Titanic

Let me first start by saying I have stayed at the QM in summer of 17 and adored my stay! It therefore saddens me that I chose to come back for my honeymoon and had a *terrible* experience. From the time we checked in, it was rough. Here is the run down: -my husband and I tried to check in early (no problem if our room wasn’t ready, that was our bad) and we go to the desk. Gentlemen says our room is ready, it just needs towels, and he will send some right up. Guy next to him at the next desk says ‘oh no, you can’t do that, you have to wait for it to be inspected.’ We walked around the boat for TWO HOURS waiting for towels and ‘an inspection’ -while we were waiting we got lunch. Waiter dropped our check while I was mid bite and literally only halfway through my meal. It made us feel like we needed to leave the Chelsea chowder house in a big hurry. -this hotel is DIRTY. An inch of Dirt in the corners of the hallways and I’m not kidding. We finally get into our room, and the floor hasn’t been vaccumned. There are visible strings of fabric and crumbs on the floor. And we waited two hours for an inspection? -since it’s an old ship, there are quiet zone signs to be courteous to other guests. No problem! It’s part of the charm and one of the reasons I loved this hotel. Why is it then that I can hear housekeeping loudly cleaning in the next room at 8:30am? Isn’t that a little early to be knocking doors asking if housekeeping can come in? The only reason we were able to get our ‘

Wow! What a cool experience! My wife and I and our three kids stayed here and it was truly a great experience. The Queen Mary is certainly in some need of some TLC however. It’s tough because you need to keep everything as original as possible, but there’s no doubt that she could use some freshening up. It’s possible to do this and be true to her originality.

Love the whole experience!! Only that I always get lost inside the ship. More signs would be great.

delayed check-in, dirty pillow, outdated bathroom, AC did not work; pros: it's a special experience because you stay on a cruise

Dated as you exoect, but it was all over. Bath tub had hairs and camplaint but was not taken care of

Hotel staff wanted us to wait until 4 pm to get our room when there was room available

Nice and close to cruise ship. Awesome starting point for a cruise. Would definitely recommend this

Beautiful, historic ship. Can’t wait to see it again

The only picture on Orbitz that looked exactly the same in person was the bathroom. I froze every night due to a non working thermostat. In order to have heat you have to call the front desk, so they can have someone go to the boiler room to turn up the heat. Sadly the heat never kicked in, so I ended up buying a heating blanket from Walmart.
