First Glimpse The small 32-passenger Avalon Angkor will join the Avalon Waterways fleet of river cruise ships in fall 2012. Built specifically to ply the Mekong River, the ship will cruise from Ho Chi Minh City to Siem Reap and vice versa.
Here's what you can expect onboard:
Cabins, all outside, measure 172-square ft and feature floor-to-ceiling sliding glass doors with louvers. All cabins feature a large private bathroom with full shower and premium bath amenities.
Cabin amenities include mini-fridge, bathrobes and slippers, alarm clock, in-room safe, individual climate control and hair dryer. Beds can be configured into two twins or one queen and come with choice of firm or soft pillows and duvets and Egyptian cotton linens.
Avalon Angkor has just two decks. The back half of the second deck features a small sun deck with chairs for sunning and relaxing, as well as the dining room. There is an observation lounge, 24-hour self-service beverage station, a library, a small fitness area and massage services. Smoking is not permitted in interior areas.
In addition to meals and accommodations, sightseeing excursions led by local guides, onboard lectures, bottled water and local beer/spirits with dinners are included in the fare. Avalon Waterways appeals to mostly English speaking passengers in the 55-plus range.
