First Glimpse Avalon Tranquility joined the Avalon Waterways fleet in April 2007. The 170-passenger vessel boasts 81 staterooms and four suites. Tranquility offers a variety of cruises through Central Europe.
Here's what you can expect onboard:
Staterooms, all outside, measure 172 square ft., among the largest of river ships; junior suites are 258 square ft. Cabins on the Royal and Sapphire Decks have "French balconies," sliding glass doors with a protective railing; remaining cabins have picture windows.
Stateroom amenities include large closets, individual climate control, color satellite TV, telephone, radio, mini-bar, safe and hair dryers. Beds can be configured into two twins or one queen.
Tranquility has four decks, including a sky deck for sunning and relaxing. The lounge and restaurant at the front of the ship offer river views on three sides, and an outside observation desk in front of the lounge provides up-close-and-personal views of locks and bridges. You'll also find a hair salon and an exercise room. Smoking is not permitted in interior areas. Internet access is available.
The ship features Avalon's Silent Drive System (SDS). The ship engines are located at the stern, which gives a quieter cruise experience than on traditional riverboats.
