December 2010 from Port Canaveral by
A Traveler from United States Sailing date: Dec 2010Pros: the food Cons: size of the bathroom The staff is very nice and very helpful, they work so hard. There was an issue with rebording the ship from CocoCay as the weather had turned and the water was very choppy. Some poor passagers were stranded on the water in high seas for over an hour because the bording plank was distroyed by an earlier attempt ot board. It all worked out though. The ship is clean, smells good and not dated. I like how they keep the kids away fromn the adults. One complaint is the need to enforce the no smoking areas better. Ship Quality

Cococay (Cruiseline Private Island)Explore the island before you select a spot to stop and relax, the island getts better and better as you get away from the ship. Smokers should have their own beach, they are so rude.
Nassau, BahamasDo go on your own, no need for the extra $ on organized tours. See the Fort and the Queens Stairs...stroll the shopping area.

  Fabulous long weekend! by
Kathleen B from Panama City Beach, FL Sailing date: Sep 2010Pros: Everything!!! It was my first cruise and it was something I will definitely be doing again! Cons: Not really a "con" because it's no one's fault, but I would have liked to have seen Coco Cay, but due to the weather, they had to change our itinerary. It worked out having the extra time in Nassau though. This being my first cruise, I didn't know what to expect. We booked the trip and then read on line that it was an older ship and not as modern. DON'T let that deter you!! This ship was spotless, everything was comfortable- from the bed to the seating in the lounge-- it was very well maintained and, in my estimation, above what I was expecting after reading some of the reviews. If this is "older", I guess I'd be blown away by what the new ships look like. I thought it was amazing. Ship QualityWe were very happy with our accommodations, although next time I'd probably spend the additional money to have a balcony. Dining/FoodThe food was not bad---but I need to say that we are not big eaters. This vacation wasn't about the food to us-- don't laugh, I've heard that to some, that is the single reason they cruise! The dinners each night were lovely and the food was very good. I can't complain-- I ate steak & seafood every night. The breakfast buffet was huge and I can't comment too much on lunch because we ate off the ship each day. There was certainly enough to grab and go. I thought they did an impressive spread the night of the party on the pool deck also. Stateroom QualityVery comfy bed, bathroom was a little tight for two people but we worked around that- very adequate sized room for us. Ship Staff QualityI can't say enough about the staff. They were friendly, courteous, interested in our stories, helpful, attentive-- they were even smiling while they were trying to get all of us to disembark 1 1/2 hours later than we should have due to weather, knowing they would have a full ship again in just a few hours! They were outstanding---especially RAY, who took care of us in the 9000 hall and made the great animal towel art every night!! YOU ROCK!! Entertainment & ActivitiesLike I said.....only my first cruise so I have nothing to compare it to, but they sure know how to party and mix drinks on that boat!! My husband and brother in law will never live down that party on the pool deck on Saturday night. Terrific cruise director & staff got everyone going and the DJ was tremendous. That one will be hard to top!

Nassau, BahamasAtlantis was beautiful---VERY expensive to do anything there, but it was worth going over to see the grounds and the inside of the hotel. Snorkeling w/ the Bahama Dive Shop was wonderful.....they were very accommodating and patient w/ all the different skill levels on the boat. I would highly recommend that! Straw market was neat-- very crowded though because 5 ships had to dock due to weather. Senor Frogs was fun-- hold your breath with those taxi drivers!!

  A great cruise! by
Alena B. from Georgia Sailing date: May 2010Pros: The cruise was great especailly with my two children. There were a lot of onboard activities for them to do so that the grown-ups can enjoy a little time out on the cruise. I recommend this cruise to anyone. Cons: The trip wasn't long enough, but it was good. The cruise was a really good especially if taking children. There were a lot of onboard activities for them to do so that the grown-ups can enjoy a little time out on the cruise. Everyone of the staff was polite and pleasant and the food was great. The rooms could have been larger, but it's a ship, so that is expected. I recommend this cruise to other people. Ship Quality

  An amazing cruise! by
Leah H from Elyria, OH Sailing date: Mar 2010Pros: Our waiters! Cons: The rocking of the boat The Monarch of the Seas was amazing! This was my first cruise and I had a blast! Our dining room waiters were awesome, Buyung (we called him Bubu) and Robinson! They made us laugh and we had the best of time going to dinner! I loved the onboard activities such as the casino, deck parties and the shows they put on. I would absoloutly choose the Monarch of the Seas again if i were going on another cruise, and hopefully I would get Bubu and Robinson as waiters again! Ship QualityI thought the condition of the boat was in very good shape. It wasn't old looking and when we docked next to a carnival cruise ship, I liked our ship better (except they had a water slide) =) Dining/FoodThe dining room food was amazing! The waiters would remember things you did or didn't like from the first day, such as putting cream out for your coffee and you not using it, then they wouldn't put it out again. The deserts were the best part! Stateroom QualityOur stateroom was small, but perfect for two people. The attendent cleaned our room everyday and always said hello if we saw him in the hall! He was very polite and nice! Ship Staff Quality

  Excellent cruise by
Jennifer L. from Orlando, Fl Sailing date: Jan 2010Pros: CocoCay and pool parties Cons: Nothing. We loved every minute. The ship was the perfect size for my family of four. We all shared an interior stateroom with bunk beds, and surprisingly it was just fine. You really only use it for sleeping and we had more than enough room. The ship was clean and had great entertainment. They have upgraded their entertainment to include a group of wonderful young singers and dancers who put on a great show. Nassau was very beautiful but be careful of the street vendors. They will pester you. We almost didn't get to CoCocay because the swells were too high. The pontoon boats have to be able to safely get you from the ship to the island and we couldn't do it the first day, so we used our scheduled sailing day to try it again and we made it. It was absolutely the best part of the trip. Ship QualityFor an older, slightly smaller ship we found that it was more than big enough for us. Dining/FoodI can't say more about the food. We had excellent service and we were allowed to order as much as we wanted at the formal dinners every night. You can order more than one entree just for your info. The buffet's are outstanding. Stateroom QualityVery clean and beds were comfortable. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was so nice and made sure that we had whatever we needed. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe new singers and dancers really put on a show, and the pool parties on deck were a blast. Make sure you get the Miami Vice, Long Island Iced teas and Bahama Mama's when at the pool. 4 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  A Great Shorter Cruise by
Martin A. from Englewood, FL Sailing date: Nov 2009Pros: Value Cons: Small cabins/bathrooms This was a short (4 nights) and inexpensive cruise, but we loved every minute of it. The service was outstanding and the food was excellent. This is an older ship, and may not have every amenity, but we found it ideal for what it was. The cabins and cabin bathrooms are quite small, but with the low ticket prices, who can complain?
One thing that we found objectionable was that the only news available on TV was Fox. Ship Quality

Very memorable and enjoyable cruise! by
GLC from Citra, FL Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: Excellent food and plnety of activities! Cons: Not so hot coffee and smoking in some indoor areas. Cleanliness is next to godliness! They clean the ship throughout the day. The staff is there to please the passengers. Food is excellent and bountiful; avaliable throughout the day and night. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityWe booked the cheapest stateroom, hence it was very small. But with a few adjustments, it suited us fairly well considering that we were 4 adults in this one space. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThere were so many activities for all ages that we could not participate in all.

Cococay (Cruiseline Private Island)It would have been great if it did not rain so hard, especially during lunch time. There were plenty of activities but we just opted to enjoy the beach.
Don't Miss: Just relax!! Nassau, BahamasJoin the land tour! While it is not as extensive as we wanted it to, it was enough to make you interested in Nassau and come back for more.
Don't Miss: Go to Atlantis and stay longer. 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
