Great weather--gorgeous ports!
by A Traveler from Redding, CA
Sailing date:
Sep 2010
Pros:
Outstanding service by entire crew.
Cons:
Disembarkation in San Diego was like being in a cattle drive.
The refurbished Rotterdam (VI) is beautiful inside and out--very well maintained. We loved the new spaces such as the Mix and the Retreat with the outdoor big screen movies in the evenings. The itinerary was wonderful--South Pacific at it's best. Absolutely gorgeous Islands, atolls and motus. Wonderful colors of sand, sky and sea. Fanning Island stop was a very pleasant surprise with terrific buys on native handicrafts and friendly people. Sea days were filled with all sorts of enjoyable activities or we could just relax. Rotterdam has the best onboard entertainment we've seen on any cruise. There are so many choices for dining with the La Fontaine, Lido, Pinacle and Canaletto restaurants plus the pizza place at the Retreat and the Terrace Grill by the pool. Food was wonderful! Great variety and extensive menues.

Ship Quality
Beautiful artwork throughout the public spaces. Meticulous detail to cleanliness and service with a smile by everyone on board.
Dining/Food
Dining in the La Fontaine main dining room was a very memorable experience at every meal. Every detail was perfect, service was exquisite by veteran stewards who call you by name from the first day on. Food was beautiful and delicious with lots of choices for venues and menues.
Stateroom Quality
Stateroom was more than adequate, newly refurbished and spotlessly maintained. Stateroom stewards are outstanding.
Ship Staff Quality
Staff throughout the ship were wonderful. Bar staff would help find seats in the showroom and assist elderly at every turn--with a huge smile!
Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment was fantastic---great singers, musicians, entertainers with superb costumes, staging, choreography, sound and lighting--every show was top-notch. All the music throughout the ship was wonderful--show band, dance band, piano bar, guitarist and DJ. All were very professional.

Not a good choice to travel alone on
by A Traveler from Hendersonville, NC
Sailing date:
Jul 2009
Pros:
Food was good; crew was polite; room was adequate
Cons:
90% of the passengers were Dutch and non English speaking; the ship catered to their language in most presentations; tours were too tightly scheduled and only three days were spend ashore.
Recommend ship to family groups and large tour groups; Too commercial ; huge to get around in; see above

Copenhagen, Denmark
No time given for exploration; very tightly scheduled tour of interest to the guide. Saw only the highlights of the city; no meals served on tour
Don't Miss:
Ask the tour guide
Helsingborg, Sweden
If it hadn't rained at the gardens we could have seen more; but again tightly scheduled.; no chance given to have anything to eat anywhere
Oslo, Norway
Went to Christmas House in Drobak and then had a short city tour; guide was very good and willing to go beyond the prescribe itinerary to accomodate visitor's request
Don't Miss:
Drobak and the sculpture garden

Alaska cruise
by A Traveler from Texas
Sailing date:
Aug 2010
Pros:
The wildlife and scenery
Cons:
The desserts on the lido deck
Smaller ship, catering to the elderly, although I'm not old, I appreciated the care given to them. Nice library on the ship, was used by a lot of people. I wish there was no smoking in the casino, I couldn't stay in there fore more than 3 or 4 minutes. Had a wonderful time, and would sail with them again.

Dining/Food
The dining room was of course better than the lido deck, but overall it was very good. I certainly didn't lack for food.

Take a wildlife excursion, well worth the money.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Very rainy town. Pretty, has a nice river with salmon running through it. Lots and lots of shopping.
Don't Miss:
I did a bear watching tour which was great.
Sitka, Alaska
The town is nice, shopping of course, pretty houses and businesses
Don't Miss:
Again a wildlife excursion.
