40th Wedding Anniversary Cruise by
A Traveler from Tappahannock, Virginia Sailing date: Aug 2012Pros: The Cayman Island excursion and Shows Cons: The limited time in Ocho Rios and the organization of the excurision there The cruise was memorable. The entertainment, shows, excursion and dining were great. The staff was pleasant and the ship was elegant. We were told that the ship's staff would recognize our anniversary, but it did not happen. i would have preferred to have more time in Jamaica. Overall, it was a great cruise and we will return in the future. Ship Quality

What a horrible excuse for a cruise by
Peter B from United States Sailing date: Jul 2011Pros: The destinations Cons: The overkill on photographers. This was my 8th cruise, and, by far, this was the worst one I have been on. The cabin smelled horrible (smelled like cigar smoke and exhaust), and after voicing my concern 4 times, they finally sent an engineer who fixed it in about 30 minutes. Why was this not done from the beginning?
The "evening shows" were amateurish as best. They were posted to begin at a set time, but the the ship's "fun crew" was so busy trying to sell "just one more ticket for bingo" that they were consistently 20 minutes late every night except the last night when they were over 45 minutes late starting.
There was no information to be found on-board about the ports of call EXCEPT for the shopping opportunities for the stores that had a commission back to Carnival (it was even stated in the fine print).
There were SO MANY photographers set up in the Promenade deck that it was almost impossible to walk through. I was actually afraid for my safety because the equipment blocked free movement in case of an emergency. Ship QualityRoom and hallways smelled horrible. Dining/Food

St. John's, AntiguaTook a local taxi to one of the beaches ($16 round trip)---secluded with about a half dozen people on it. Rented beach chairs and umbrella for $6 for The people on the ship sponsored trips were loudly complaining about how crowded the beaches were
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.Again took a taxi to a local beach ($14 each way). Chair free for the day--rented snorkeling equipment for $10 all day) Snorkeling right from the beach. Great food--the guy actually made frozen drinks using a blender he had running off his car battery!
While we were there, 3 different "Sail and Snorkel" from the ship stopped here to disgorge the folks from the ship for a 40 minute snorkel.
Nassau, BahamasHilton Day Pass = $45 which gave you run of the property, a $30 voucher for lunch/drinks and a free chair and towels. Easy walk from the ship.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.Booked the tour through Orbitz and it was great. The people who booked through the ship were not as happy. They felt rushed all day.

  Not that wonderful cruise by
A Traveler from Philadelphia Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: Islands Cons: Food and organisation For ship that supposed to be a fun and younger crowd ship it was very disappointing. Not much to do when not in port, entertainment not good and most for old ppl. It's not allot of bars or places where you can sit and enjoy music or just quite time, but most of the time they where closed for private gatherings. Food was not good quality and most of the time was warm at best. Ship Quality

Not a good time had by all! by
Mrs. P from Sutton, NH Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: The shows Cons: Food, dining room stewards, ship layout Room steward was awesome, service was almost invisible. Dining room steward was a different story. Food was always cold and we were always served late. Steward was having a bad cruise the entire time and we paid the price. One of our dining companions had an insect in her food and it was barely acknowledged. Ship layout was tough. You had to go up from DECK 3 and then back down to get to the atrium on the oher side. This is cruise #8 for me and the first and last on Carnival. Ship QualityNot a good fowing layout for the dining rooms to the other pulic rooms. Dining/FoodNasty and cold food. Stateroom QualityStateroom (balcony cabin) was small, I don't see how the larger passengers got around if two average sized people found it close. Ship Staff QualityAsked for Matire'D on two occasions and was ignored. Purser staff was quite rude. One of our dining companions was served dinner with an insect and another had a table in the shopping rea fall on her foot and you would think thye sould have gotten more acknowledgement than a form letter. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe assistant cruise director (AKA Big Sexy) was a blast.

Would not go to these ports again. by
Timothy K from Isanti, Minnesota Sailing date: Nov 2008Pros: Jamaica Cons: Key West, Grand Cayman, buffet food I was on the Carnival ship "Freedom", we went through Key West, Grand Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios Jamaica. If you like to shop then you will have a great time in Key West and Grand Caymen Islands, there was nothing else to do. We had a riot in Jamaica, there was not enough time to see all that we wanted to, the people were very friendly there. The cruise ship Freedom, had a lot of great staff from the room stewards to the formal dining area but the buffet left a lot to be desired, food that was supposed to be hot was cold (and in a lot of situations not cooked thoroughly), and food that was supposed to be cold was warm, by the end of the cruise they were running out of stuff in the buffet area. Overall, I would give this cruise a "D". Ship QualityShip was clean and room stewards did an excellant job. Dining/FoodFormal dining area had some fantastic food, stuff you would find in a 5 star restaurant, the buffet left a lot to be desired, food was not totally cooked (breakfast foods), they ran out of items by the end of the cruise. Stateroom Qualityfantastic Ship Staff Qualitymost were great, there were a few that acted like we were an inconvenience. Entertainment & Activitiesgreat shows, but would not recommend going to the adult comedy show if you do not want to hear a lot of profanity.

Key West, Floridagreat for shopping, not much else to see
George Town, Grand Caymangreat commercialized port with lots of shopping
Ocho Rios, Jamaicadidn't have enough time to get to everything I wanted to do like the white water rafting. The only thing I did not like about Jamaica is when you get off the ship you are hounded by taxi drivers trying to get your business and do not like to hear no.

  Good Cruise by
Iliana C from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Apr 2013Pros: Boat's decor, excellent service from employees Cons: Not enough time at the ports. The boat's decor is very nice; clean boat mostly. If you are on a budget, Carnival is the best liner to go with, but remember- you get what you pay for! Carnival is the perfect budget cruise. If you can spend a few more $$$, then go with a more upscale liner like Celebrity or Royal Caribbean- theyre both worth it. Ship QualityDid not like the fact that the public restrooms inside the boat- not in your staterooms- did not have toilet seat covers. Also, the Lido deck area was not always well kept during the day (due to so many people roasting under the sun all day), and the sun chairs were pretty dirty- except for the 21 and over only area. We did not like the fact that smoking is allowed at all-should only be allowed in the casino- but no where else. Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityFelt the 3 person stateroom was quite snug- and we are not big overweight people, but are a rather fit group!! Lol. Ship Staff QualityThe staff in the dining room, and the staff in housekeeping were very friendly. Bunch of hard working people. There were some employees that were in charge of cleaning public areas on the boat, example: Lido deck or buffet area- that would be on their cell phones on private calls. Not good. Entertainment & ActivitiesDid not like the shows in the theater, the entertainment was pretty boring, not really well planned or entertaining, the night club was not great either. DJ played horrible music that no one would dance to- for example, on the 4th night, it was Latin music theme, and the dance floor was PACKED with people dancing. After that hour of latin music, the DJ switched the music (terrible mistake) and everyone fleed from the dance floor. He saw that NO ONE was dancing, but insisted on playing that crappy bang music instead. Did not cater at all to the public's preference. 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Great cruise! by
Ann L. from Southern Wisconsin Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: Variety of the food. Cons: Long wait in the dining room for entree/not always hot. Very clean ship, great staff. Really appreciated our room steward, Edwin. Enjoyed all of the ports and the relaxing days at sea. Had to replace my deodorant on the cruise, and it cost over $7.00 in the Freedom's gift shop. I understand they mark things up, but a little excessive. Food was very good. Two nights in the dining room we waited over 40 mins for out entree to be served, and then it wasn't hot. Great the rest of the time. Ship QualityGreat entertainment, and hard working staff. Sometimes there was no waiter around to take drink orders, but they were nice when you could find one. Not the most attractive interior of the Carnival ships...I think the Legend and the Liberty are much prettier. We had a lovely room on Deck 1 with a huge window.Very clean. Stateroom Quality
