An Interesting Cruise by
A Traveler from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: The Entertainment Director - Steve Cassell Cons: Lido (upper deck) food service. Cold (hot) food...unfriendly staff this deck only. There were three of us and we had a marvelous time. Overall the ship was pretty nice. After one day of the Lido food deck, we never ate there again and visited the two rstaurants and enjoyed them very much. The food was excellent. The debarkation was the simpliest and easist we have ever had. Praises for that setup. Our 'wait' staff and 'room' staff were PERFECT. We never had to ask for anything...they had it before we thought we needed it.
The Ecstasy was an older ship, but the entertainment was fun, the casino staff most helpful and the space aboard was great. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodWould have been nice to have a bit more variety in choices of restaurants. Ambiance in the existing two were fine. Stateroom QualitySUPER!!! Ship Staff QualityThe best would have applied except for the Lido deck staff. Entertainment & ActivitiesHooray for the best Director EVER!! 9 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

  Family Cruise by
Patricia S from Houston, TX Sailing date: Aug 2009Pros: Kids enjoyed it Cons: Food was just so so Carnival is in my opinion a low rate cruise line, if you want to have a good time on a low budget this is the cruise line to go on!....and be prepared to be surrounded by a lot of kids running wild!! Ship QualityNot the best looking ship, kind of run down and the pools are too small!!! Dining/FoodThe seating retaurant food is pretty good, but the open buffets are mediocre at best.. Stateroom QualityIf you are traveling at a family of more than 2 be prepared to sleep in very small, cramp room accomidations Ship Staff QualityThe only truely friendly people are the room stewart other than that it's hit or miss as far as good friendly service goes... Amazing cruise! by
Madeline K from Austin, TX Sailing date: May 2009Pros: The staff members were extremely friendly and there were many activities to do onboard every day. The itenarary was great. Cons: The only problem was that it was difficult to get the shore excursions we wanted because they filled up very quickly. The cruise was great. It was my 3rd cruise (2nd on Carnival) and was the best yet. The waitstaff in the dining room were amazing. Our 2 waiters became friends and did magic tricks at our table, as well a dancing and singing with the other staff members.
The food was great and there was always plenty of food and a wide variety available.
There were plenty of chairs on deck to sit/lay on.
The shows (dance revues, comedy shows) were also very entertaining.
The casino staff members were very friendly and very good at their jobs.
The photographers were also great-they offered many different backgrounds and poses everyday.
Overall this was awesome and I would recommend it to anyone wanting to go on a cruise. Ship QualityRooms were small, but that was expected. The ship was very clean and had an attractive layout. Dining/FoodFood was amazing-including the huge variety of desserts. Stateroom QualityStaterooms were very basic (we were in an oceanview) but had everything we needed. Ship Staff QualityAll staff members (waiters, housekeeping, entertainers...) were awesome. Entertainment & ActivitiesWide variety of activities and all were fun. 11 out of 14 people found this review helpful.

  Well worth the cost by
A Traveler from Houston Sailing date: Apr 2009Pros: Excellent service from all the crew Cons: How many times can they take our picture? Ecstasy is showing her age in some areas, but I understand she is getting a major facelift this fall. Still, the ship was clean and seems well cared for. The crew was friendly and the service was good. The food was fine in the dining room, not to die for, but good enough. The dining room service was excellent. Overall, a good value for the money. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityWe had an outside cabin with a window. The size was adequate and our cabin steward did a fine job keeping it neat and tidy. Ship Staff QualityI can't say enough good things about the crew. Everyone was friendly and helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were entertaining, but not the quality I have seen on other cruises. There didn't seem to be the variety of activities on the days at sea offered on some other cruises.

Cozumel, MexicoWe hired a taxi for a trip to the Mayan Ruins and a circle tour of the Island. The ruins were quite interesting and well worth the trip. We saw at least 30 Iguanas as we walked around the site. This was my fourth trip to Cozumel, so we skipped the shopping downtown and bought the obligatory t-shirts etc. at the shops by the pier.

I will never cruise again by
Lawrence C. from Tyler, Texas Sailing date: Apr 2009Pros: Getting off of the boat Cons: The food was horrible, tasted like cafeteria food from high school This was my first time on a cruise ship to celebrate my 19th wedding aniversary. I wanted to get a feel for cruising before I take an Alaskan cruise for my 20th. Unfortunately, due to our experiance we will opt to fly to Paris instead. No more cruises for us.... ever. Dining/FoodThe food was simply horrible, when a burger was the best meal the whole week you have got problems. The food was always cold, or the oatmeal was runny, tasted fishy or processed.... let's just say, I lost weight on this trip and it should have been the other way around. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityWith the exception of our room steward, we found the staff to be rude and apathetic. Entertainment & ActivitiesUnfortunately, we did not get to visit a port of call, and the games were repetative. Only so much trivia can be played over and over and over and over...

Cozumel, MexicoSome of your shows or presentations really built up this port, we never saw land, simply put, Carnival should have found another port, or at very least do the right thing. The cruise line did not deliver what they sold me. I own a business, and when I don't deliver what was promised, I do not expect my customers to pay. I am not suggesting a full refund, however just to let you know, you have lost a cruiser forever, no matter what cruise line.
Don't Miss: Never saw land Progreso (Merida), MexicoI wish I could have visited any port of call. We should have been diverted to another port rather than sitting in the middle of the gulf like a fishing bobber.
Don't Miss: I missed it all! 3 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

  Western Carribean by
A Traveler from Denver, Colorado Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: The entertainment/shows Cons: The rockiness of the boat This was our first cruise and it was nice, but overall I would recommend another boat with maybe stabilizers, as the boat was very rocky. The staff was very nice and accomodating, the food was OK, the boat was dated as far as anemities, and what you would call the main swimming pool was a joke. It was approx 10 X 16 feet for 2000 passengers. They did have two other small round pools with a couple of hot tubs. It wasn't horrible or anything, but would definately spend a little extra money for a larger ship and maybe a few more port stops. It was a little boring being on the ship with the same activities for two full days at sea. I did like the fact that it was five days instead of seven. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityThe rooms were very small as I know that they usually are, but their was five of us ages 13 and up, so once they put the roll away bed in our room you could hardly walk. Entertainment & Activities

  Not Any time soon by
Shelley L from Houston, TX Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: food, service Cons: VERY DATED, VERY DATED, Not clean My overall impression was not good. Most of the time we were very bored. The ship is gross and dirty and beyond dated. The carpets were gross and very dirty. The ship is small. There were mostly very old people. I did not like sitting with strangers at dinner or being told what time we could eat dinner. Ship Quality

  An Ok cruise by
Tomas G. from Manchaca, Texas Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: lots of activitites Cons: Food quality has decreased alot Activities were good and varaible, such as dancing, shows, casino tournaments, etc. But, the food at the main dining was about 2stars, not 4-5 stars as before. Perhaps, I had not attended the short cruises in a while. The buffet, available instead of the main dining, was lacking. Their fuit juice is concentrate and very tart. Maybe, all other ships with a short itinerary have the same shortcomings, but the Carnival Ecstacy is the only one I can review. Ship Qualitycabins are somewhat smaller than the Conquewt, if you want to compare.
Dining/Foodsee comments above Stateroom Qualitysmall, but clean Ship Staff Qualityno complaints about the staff Entertainment & Activities
Children's Programs12 year old daughter had no problem getting into the 12-14 year old group and loved the activities. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  A Wonderful Cruise by
Bill H. from Dallas, TX Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: We loved everything: the food, the accomodations, and all the staff. Everyone was nice and polite. We especially liked the fact that the ship was very clean. Also, the food was delicious and the menu was different every night. All the staff was gracious and polite. We were very pleased and hope to return again next year with our family for our 50th wedding anniversary. Ship QualityEverything was very clean, and the workers were always cleaning and making sure eveything looked nice and clean at all times. Dining/FoodWe loved the variety of options available on the menu. Stateroom QualityVery comfortable. We loved the nice towels and the bedding. We felt so cozy. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was friendly and ready to assist in any way they could. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe loved the shows. They were very well choreographed and the costumes were outstanding. 20 out of 27 people found this review helpful.
