Interesting cruise
by Susan A from Griswold, CT
Sailing date:
Oct 2010
Pros:
the itinerary was great and there was a young Hungarian violinist, and her pianist, who were the highlight of the crusie! She was fantastic!
Cons:
all announcements given in 5 languages
The ship was beautiful and clean! Our balcony stateroom was lovely. The shipboard activities were poor - the shows well below par compared to other cruises we've been on. We were unprepared for everything on board being in euros! With $1 US equal to E1.40, this was significant.

Dining/Food
Seasoning and cuts of meat not to my liking. Some things were wonderful, some others, not worth eating. The buffet was not available after lunch, so it was not an option for dinner. The late seating was at 9:15 and 9:30 pm! So thankful we were able to switch to early (6:45 and 7:00 pm) seating.

A pretty good cruise
by Heath M from Georgia, USA
Sailing date:
Mar 2010
Pros:
I liked the price and I enjoyed several of the ports.
Cons:
I was a little disappointed with the organization of the ship's activities and the food.
The ship was ok and we had a fine time. It took us to all of the ports that we expected to go to and we enjoyed that part. We were rather disappointed with the food as compared to other crusies that we have taken. Also, the operating times of the pool and hot tubs and restaurants were not at all adequate. The times of the various activities also continually contradicated each other and prevented us from enjoying many things that we would like to do, since we were "forced" into eating at very predefined times by the ship's staff.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship was ok, but a lot of the stuff just was not ideal. The pool was not open but for part of the days and closed around 6PM each night. A lot of other areas closed at times when many people would still like to enjoy the activities, such as the water slide, fitness area, hot tubs, pools, basketball courts, etc.
Dining/Food
We were not impressed at all with the food options. There was not a very wide selection of food items, nor were they many different dining options. We also were not pleased with the dining times and lack of a "24 hour" dining option for days when we busy with activities and did not want to stop and eat at the predefined times. The evening meal options were very poor. An option of waiting for a traditional table service meal was very, very slow and choice of dining times was limited to 6PM or 8:45PM... the 8:45PM dining period lasted till after 11PM before we got out of the dining area. The choice of eating areas in the restaurant was also not flexible, we were all assigned seats with various people at our table... not an ideal situation for a "romantic-type trip". There was a buffet option instead of the traditional meal option that was ok, but nothing spectacular... it was only open for dinner for a short period of time and they only had a few choices available.
Stateroom Quality
The room was very nice and large in size. It seemed bigger than most other rooms on other ships.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was adequate. The language barrier was a little troubling in being able to communicate and ask questions regarding shore excursions. The staff in the shore excursion area had an extremely difficult time being able to relate the question back to us in English.
Entertainment & Activities
The evening entertainment was excellent almost every night. One night was not as good when they had an "opera singer", but other than that, every other night was excellent. The other ship's activities were a little disappointing and not timed very well with the other activities of the day on the ship. A lot of times conflicted with dining times and prevented the average person from being able to enjoy the activities unless they missed their evening meal.

Pros:
The food was the best ever on a cruise
Cons:

The cruise on the costa Atlantica was the greatest cruise we ever went on for many reasons. The food was fantastic, the entertainment fun and exciting, the service was above average, the friendliness of the staff was superb. We will cruise again with Costa and we will tell many friends about our great experience.

A wonderful cruise
by Sharon H from Moorhead, MN
Sailing date:
Jan 2010
Pros:
It wasT a very international cruise representing so many countries. There was very good entertainment. We especially loved a trio from Hungary who played exquisitely beautiful chamber music. We would travel Costa again.
Cons:
I can't really say anything that was wrong with Costa itself, just many countries with differing customs. The big one was smokers smoking where they wanted and not respecting others rights as this country.
The ship was fine. As most cruise lines a constant cleaning program was in place. The cabin was spacious and comfortable.

Pleasantly Surprised
by Richard R from Jacksonville, FL
Sailing date:
Nov 2009
Pros:
Staff, Price, Decor
Cons:
Food
After visiting different message boards online, I was a little worried about this cruise line. However the service on board and the ship itself were just amazing. It was an incredible value. Food was hit or miss, geared more to a European taste. I would not hesitate to take another cruise with Costa if the price is right.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Gorgeous decor. Felt like I was in an art gallery. Discovered new areas and details up to the moment I stepped off the ship to disembark.
Dining/Food
Buffet hours were a little different from Carnival and the like, but once we got the schedule down we were good.
Stateroom Quality
Lots of shelves in bathroom, bedroom drawer and cabinet space a little crammed for a family of four.
Ship Staff Quality
Incredible staff. Everyone always had a smile on their faces and I was always amazed with the ease they could go from one language to another to communicate with anyone on board.
Entertainment & Activities
Children's Programs
Staff did a wonderful job. It was next to impossible to get my seven year old to leave the kids club.
