First and last time With carnival by
Keri w. from San diego, ca Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: Stanley at the comedy show Cons: Shows horrible, lines for everything , programs not upheld There are too many negatives to write in such a small space; terrible shows, lines all the time, room service time over an hour with extremely slim choices, cold hot tubs , age restrictions never enforced on adult only areas, show admittance, babies in hot tub, preg teen in hot tub, our deck always smelled like raw sewage , spa aggressively pushed the buying purchase of items, casino drinks on us card a joke! Tried to get a diet coke multiple times and was told no cant get one but the push of alcohol was heavy- for 2 days playing at the casino after earning the card - still got refused a diet coke! Supervisor did nothing . Elegant dining??? What a joke- nothing special, no special amenities provided, people where not again held to regulations ie; in jeans, hats, flip flops etccc
Just a tip of our experience! Never again will I waste my money on this cruise line! First time in 5 yrs to take a trip without out kids to actually enjoy and carnival failed miserably!!! Beyond disappointed Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDejeana was fantastic! She was the only reason our 8:15 dining was superb! She remembered details of each of out likings after just the first night! Fantastic! Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityOnly one person stood out- dejeana from Serbia Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsHorrible!!!!! $40 for a 5 min bingo!!!! 4 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

  the worst cruise ever by
alice from mission viejo, ca Sailing date: Apr 2011Pros: nothing Cons: horrible food and service. This has absolutely been the worst cruise I have ever taken, and I have done quite a few. It started with the embarkation, poor planning, long never ending lines by the time we got on the ship we were exhausted. Room was shaking all night felt like an earthquake every single night we reported it nothing was ever done about it no one showed up even after they said they would. The itinerary was cancelled at the last minute, it took three days to get to Cabos, what would otherwise take 1 day, however on the way back they sped up like mad making us sea sick. Food and service was despicable!!!!!! I would never ever recommend this ship or itinerary to anyone and also I can promise you that I will never be a passenger on carnival cruise lines!!!! What a nightmare! by
A Traveler from Modesto, CA Sailing date: May 2010Pros: The entire staff, including management, were rude, and extremely unprofessional. Cons: The longest 7 days of horrible buffet food, expensive drinks including $5 bottled water and entertainment that had to be purchased on the ship! I began my long awaited vacation with a room in the middle of the ship when I upgraded to a window. Guest services management told me, "Oh this happens all of the time and we are always booked full so we can't move you to a room with a window." Never apologized or cared. To make my first hour on the ship even worse, I noticed chest and long head hair on the pillow and sheets on the made bed, the pool towels were folded neatly but damp and there was dried food on the dresser and loose diapers in the drawers! When I contacted guest services AGAIN was told, "We will get to it when we can so leave your room until housekeeping can clean it." Again, not even an apology! I was not able to return to the room until 7:15 that evening causing me to miss the first dinner. When I called and told Guest Svcs what time I was finally able to come to my room and missed my first dinner, the manager told me, "Well you can order room service." WOW! Spend your hard earned vacation money on another cruise line, if you have a bad experience such as mine- they do not care or attempt to resolve!! Ship QualityPublic bathrooms on ship always messy with toilet paper on the floors and no seat covers on the entire ship. Lounge chairs were dirty and the decks were always sticky with spilled drinks. Very unkept and Gross! Dining/FoodAll buffet meals were the same tasteless and overcooked casserole dishes. Stateroom QualityExtremely small room that smelled like treated urine from the septic. A spa employee told me it always smells that way and comes through the vents. Ship Staff QualityHorrible service including management! Rude, insincere and extremely undertrained!! Entertainment & ActivitiesThere were very little shows and entertainment events on the ship that were included; there is a charge for every event that isn't an art auction or poor quality late night show.

Mazatlan, MexicoYuck! Dirty, overpriced shopping and unsafe in many tourist areas I went. I returned to the ship very early.
Puerto Vallarta, MexicoBeautiful beaches
Don't Miss: Extreme Canopy Excursion was amazing! The best excursion I have ever taken!! Cabo San Lucas, MexicoI loved everything about this gorgous city. Only had 6 hours here (shortest time in ports) but great day anyway. Not enough time for both shopping and beaches due to their locations.

  Carnival Cruise by
Anthony M from Williamsport, PA Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: Sandwhich Shop, Piano Bar, Comedians Cons: Unfriendly Bartenders, Terrible Music. Food availability. The overall cleanliness of the ship was excellent. The design/decor was a bit tacky. I heard more than one guest comment on the decor. The main pool area was small and quiet. It wasn't lively at all. The main pool area had a retractable cover above that is used in the event of poor weather, but it was a terrible feature when it was nice. It made it difficult to view the main pool area. Fortunately there wasn't anything to view, so no big deal. We stayed mainly at the rear, adults only pool. I have to commend the management for enforcing this. Wish they would enforce the no reservation of pool chairs. The reason for my poor rating was mostly due to the lack of food accessibility and the unfriendly bartenders. The food served at the main evening session was very good. The food served in the buffets was average. The pizza and sandwhich quality was very good, but the lines were unreasonable. The grilled chicken shop was open a whopping three hours a day or less. Ship QualityClean. Average Design. Dining/FoodQuality of food at main seating was very good. Quality of pizza and sanwhiches was very good. Buffets were poor. Long lines!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I didn't have this problem on Royal Caribbean. Stateroom QualityExcellent stateroom attendent. Best service on the ship. The bartenders need to see the stateroom attendents for training on customer service. Ship Staff QualityStateroom attendents were awesome. Bartenders were beyond terrible. I'm not a racist!!! I don't care where you're from or what your color is, but it appears someone at Carnival has made a decision to hire 98% of their bartenders from one particular country. Interestingly enough Royal Caribbean does the same. The big difference is Royal Caribbean has figured out the culture from the country from which they seek their bartenders is warm, friendly, outgoing and very service oriented. The country in which Carnival seeks their bartenders results in poor service, stale personalities and just an overall feeling of.....ahhh....let's say they were just terrible. Entertainment & ActivitiesComedy was great. Cruise director was very good. I hate to give it a poor rating because I really liked the comedy shows, but the daily entertainment at the pools was basically non existent and they tortured us with very weird, crappy music.

  Technical Problems by
Darrell O from Rio Vista, CA Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Food & Service Cons: Schedule changes, missed excursions, minimal land time Nice ship; but had propulsion problems which changed the entire schedule. The extra time at sea meant 2 of 3 excursions had to be canceled. We were kept in the dark about where & when until too late to make plans.
Food was good & the crew was great.

  Fun Cruise by
Aly G from Monterey CA Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: the food Cons: unheated pools, lack of clocks The cruise was pretty fun. I went with my boyfriend and we had a blast. the rooms were bigger than expected and the food was great! The weather was cold and windy so we wished the pools were heated since the hot tubs were always full and we hoped for more activities on the last day at sea. but otherwise a great trip with the best staff! We will be going again in Sept with a big group of friends this time :) Ship Quality
