Excellent Cruise
by Suresh S from Austin, Texas
Sailing date:
May 2011
Pros:
The freestyle cruising, the friendly staff, great shows and food, excellent port stops
Cons:
Not too many things to not like. Wish their SPA prices were more reasonable
Norwegian Jade was a great ship and all the crew were very friendly and helpful. The check in process at Venice port was smooth. The ports and excursions we took were arranged well. Highlight of the tour for us was the "Ephesus and House of Virgin Mary" tour - a must see for everyone. The shows were awesome and so was the food. The entertainment options were plenty, so much so that we did not get do do everything! The only thing that I wish they did was lower the prices on their SPA treatments. They have a great SPA staff but the cost is just way too much

We did not do a specific tour suggested by NCL. It is a small enough town and we just walked around on or own.
Izmir, Turkey
The best port on our trip. Very well organized, best tour guides of the trip and great venues. We did the "Ephesus and House of virgin Mary" tour and it was awesome. It just felt unreal to walk the same places people did 2000 years back!
Don't Miss:
The Ephesus ruins and house of virgin Mary.
Piraeus (Athens), Greece
We did the Parthenon and the Leisure shopping tour. Parthenon was good although it is under construction and was a little underwhelming. Make sure you watch your step - it is extremely slippery
Don't Miss:
Sit down at a street cafe and eat some Gyros!
Split, Croatia
Did not do a tour. Walked around on our own since it was a small town too.

I wasn't prepared to pay the extra money for all of the tours but I absolutley loved the ship and all of the tours I wouldn't do it any other way. I would in a heart beat get on this ship again it had all sorts of amenities.

Love the Norwegians
by A Traveler from Des Moines, IA
Sailing date:
Jul 2012
Pros:
Accomodations, friendly staff, wonderful food, various workshops and seminars
Cons:
The front desk staff did not have the knowledge to handle some of our issues. The pool area was tooooo small for 3000 guests and there were not enough deck chairs for everyone.
Beautiful facility; great food; friendly and professional stateroom staff and dining room staff; wonderful seminars onboard.

Pools too small for 3000 guests and not enough deck chairs for everyone. People had to fight for deck chairs around the pool on 'days at sea.'

Ship Staff Quality
Guest services staff did not possess the knowledge to handle our specific medical needs and financial needs. Closing the on board credit account was difficult.

Norwegian Jade - Western Mediterranean
by Kenneth H. from Ft Myers, Florida
Sailing date:
Oct 2010
Pros:
Fine ship, good crew, appealing itinerary
Cons:
Pressure to buy more goods & services on board; price of drinks.
Our tour on the Norwegian Jade was a delight. The ship still carried southern Pacific decor from its days a Hawaii based ship; so that felt a bit tired. It was a comfortable sail from the get-go.

Dining/Food
Food was better than anticipated. The added-cost restaurants were worth the expense and left the main dining as less than great. The buffet was delightfully diverse in its offerings and were flavorful.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
You could not go anywhere without being cordially greeted. Staff was eager to step up to offer assistance without being intrusive.
Entertainment & Activities
After long days on shore excursions, we did not feel the need for many of the entertainment offerings. But those we checked out were of highly variable quality.

I was amazed at the crowds in late October! The bus tour covered far more than I would have expected, so that was a real plus.
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
Monte Carlo, Monaco
The only disappointment was the famous casino did not open until after 2pm.
Naples, Italy
We went to Pompeii and Sorrento. Preferred the latter. Pompeii was mobbed!
Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands
Just loved walking around the old town.

NCL Western Mediterranean Cruise
by A Traveler from Millstone Township, NJ
Sailing date:
Jun 2010
Pros:
Ports Visited
Cons:
Food was very good, but not great unless you went to the specialty restaurants at extra cost
The ship is terrific. Rooms were very comfortable and quiet. Nice beds, air conditioning, and very large showers compared to other ships I've been on. Pool area was unbelievable with large water slides, live music, 3 hot tubs and various places to get food and drinks.

Dining/Food
NCL gives you a choice to eat at their buffet, or standard restaurants. The food was good but not great. By that I mean, mostly fish, chicken, pasta, and meat dishes. Very little seafood which I really like. The buffet area was pretty busy, but usually you could get a table with no problem. We had one meal at the optional restaurant called Le Bistro which was fantastic. So basically, if you want great food, you can pay extra and try a different specially restaurant every night and I would assume they are all extremely good. It just adds to the price. There seemed to be plenty of capacity for the specialty restaurants on board with Electric signed saying what time-slots are either filled or available. A really nice feature.

Took the formula one tour and really enjoyed it. Just by walking the F1 circuit you get a good feel for the city. NCL provided tour was excellent.
Naples, Italy
We toured the Amalfi Coast and Pompei. NCL provided tour was excellent.
Don't Miss:
Amalfi Coast and Pompei.
Palma De Mallorca, Balearic Islands
We took a tour of the Caves which was ok. Very interesting, but the tour guide really did not explain anything about the formations. NCL provided tour was fair at best.

Food service facilities sometimes too crowded - not adequate
A great cruise experience by A Cruiser from San Francisco Destination: Greece-Egypt-Turkey Sailing date: 2009-10-21 Pros:Stateroom size is excellant (full view window was not available) Cons:Specialty restatrant reservations were hard to get Ship facilities excellent; staff very friendly; information available was generally very good. All instructions were clear. Shore excursions were relatively expensive, but services were good. Food menu was very good and varied. Excellent tendering (ship-to-shore) service. Over all a good experience
by A Traveler from Germany
Sailing date:
Jun 2013
Pros:
Food
Cons:
fees not being fully explained
The overall crew was wonderful by the 3rd day they remembered our daughters name and where so helpful. The cabin was inside with a window and was a good size the room was kept up multiple times every day although we didn't request it to be. I recommend looking into sure excursions on your own or once you get to the location the ones provided by the actual cruise line are over expensive and in some cases we found the local transportation cheaper. other than those minor things it was a good experience.

Children's Programs
There was a program for 3 and above but there was no other form of childcare for to get children that could not be taken to the casino or to other events on the cruise so it limited what could be done. Our daughter is 2 and we couldn't even leave her to play with the other children. The room they have for 2 and below is not good at, there was way out dated toys and nothing else in the room for them to do. It was very disappointing.
