Ports of Call Newport, Boston, and Bermu
by Pat W from Staten Island, New York
Sailing date:
May 2010
Pros:
Captian's Club Events were well planned and numerous on this cruise.
Cons:
Language barriers of the wait staff and room attendants.
Aside from the language barriers that were observed on this cruise with both wait and housekeeping staff, the trip provided a great deal of entertainment, Captain's Club Events were delightful, especially the time spent on the Heliport as the ship was leaving the Elegant Tea in the Normandie Restaurant. The food was less better on previous cruises, however, it was abundant.

Too many staff were not unable to communicate effectively with the passengers and in fact at times appeared argumentative and rude.

Quincy Market was our desitnation. We wandered through the shopping district and had lunch at Elephant & Castle English Pub.
Newport, Rhode Island
The historical village was lovely. The transportation was easily navigated and the shops were numerous. The bus ride through Newport provided us with an easy and cheap way to view the beautiful mansions and the scenic highlights of this historical harbor town.
King's Wharf, Bermuda
Bermuda is so pretty. The ferry ride to Hamilton is always fun, providing us with many photo opportunities. The town is beautiful with it's pastel homes and buildings. Gosling Brothers Limited offered a variety of wines and spirits at extremely affordable prices. They delivered their products directly to the boat, making it tax and duty free! Flying Colors sold T-Shirts, bathing cover ups, sweat shirts and basic trinkets to bring home to friends and loved ones.

South East Caribbean Cruise
by Marshall W. from Salt Lake City, Utah
Sailing date:
Apr 2010
Pros:
Ship
We just returned from a 7 day Caribbean cruise on Celebrity Summit. We thoroughly enjoyed it and of the 7 cruise lines we have sailed, Holland America and Celebrity are our favorites. The food was excellent as was the service. Our only disappointment was a blocked off promenade deck that did not allow our long around the ship walks that we enjoy so much. The entertainment was great and no embarrasing moments, no belly flop contests or sexy leg contests. Good trip.

12 Day Mediteranian Cruise 2009
by Kimberly H. from Seattle, WA
Sailing date:
Jun 2009
Pros:
Lot's of ports to visit
Cons:
Lack of hours of operation & no variety of buffet food
I have mixed feelings about this cruise. It was quite expensive and things shut down around 9:00 to 10:00 PM. My room was tiny, but I spent very little time in it so that was not an issue. The staff basically bent over backwards to serve you seemlessly. I got ill one day and had to cancel an all day excursion and they refused to refund my money for that. Big tip; just book your excursions one day in advance. As you go you will learn from others which excursions are value added and which ports are best to just catch a cab or train for very little money. The cuiseline will give you maps of the best places to visit. You can save hundreds of dollars this way. This cruise is definatly not for solo travelers, I believe I was the only one on the ship...

They could have more deck chairs, if you sleep past 7am they are all reserved by fellow travelers
Dining/Food
I only ate in the restraunt one time due to the early seating or conflict with the shows. The buffet gets old fast. They server the exact food every day, but the room service is a god send.
Stateroom Quality
Very nice but small
Ship Staff Quality
the butlers were excellent. The shore excursion people blew me off several times. Guest relations & others were great.
Entertainment & Activities
Comedy was great. Movies & bingo were fun. Casinio is tiny but fun. The other shows were all geared to older crowds.

I got lost a bunch of times but this is a very cool city - must see.
Don't Miss:
Vatican
Dubrovnik, Croatia
Walk from the ship, it is close! The entire city is very cool!! Walk the city wall if it is not too hot out. There is tons of great people watching & shopping. You will love this city.
Don't Miss:
The city wall
Santorini, Greece
Awesome beautiful city
Don't Miss:
Great views, 4 wheeling!!
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
You must not miss spending about 20 minutes at the leaning tower. Florance is a wonderful city to visit
Don't Miss:
Leaning tower of Pisa
Naples, Italy
Great city. There is just tons of fabulous architecture to see.
Piraeus (Athens), Greece
This is a nasty dirty city. The only good part is the Acropolis. Be careful not to get lost in the tiny little streets, you will miss your tour bus.
Don't Miss:
Acropolis
Venice, Italy
It was awesome but there was some sort of religious holiday so most things were shut down. Regardless there was enough to see to keep me busy all day.
Don't Miss:
Statue of David
Villefranche-Sur-Mer, France
You can smell the money dripping off of the people! Eat before you go, food is very expensve. (paid 22 euro foor a hamburger!!!)
Don't Miss:
Monico!

very good food
by David S from Westen Mass
Sailing date:

Pros:
food
Cons:
condition of ship
The celebrity was a great choice for the dining experience. The layout of the ship was very poor (sailed last year on Royal Carribean Voyager of Seas-bigger and much easier to find your way around), the condition was Fair at best(was going in for electrical overhaul after this shortened cruise). The staff was friendly and excellent except for of all things, the guest relations department. Would recommend a more up to date ship, and prob more things to do. One minus was that you HAD TO PAY for using the steam and saunas (very cheesy), the only time in 4 cruises with different lines in which I had to. One more point is concerning deck smoking..It seems that you can smoke anywher on either side which is a problem for a non smoker like myself. The rules should be spelled out, or signage for it is horrible to have to breath that crap in, on a clear beautiful day at sea.

guest relations needed a bit of a refresher course on the topic. Stateroom atendant Joseph was excellent and remembered names as did waiter Joseph. Entire dining and stateroom staff could give Guest relations a lesson.
Entertainment & Activities
paying $100 extra for the suana and stem room is pathetic. The ship lists both but does not state that it costs extra in it's description, very misleading

Great cruise!
by Valerie W. from Indianapolis, IN
Sailing date:
Feb 2013
Pros:
Very nice ship that has been recently updated. Everything was clean and looked new. Staff was friendly and helpful. LOVED the thalassotherapy pool. Spent a few evenings there relaxing after dinner. Also liked the AquaSpa healthier options for breakfast and lunch.
Cons:
Nothing, really. The
The ship was great. Very clean and new. Friendly and helpful staff. Variety of food selections, which you'd expect on a cruise. We loved the thalassotherapy pool, which was very relaxing.

The ship is pretty big, so I still don't think we saw all of it in the week we were on it. Everything was very clean and well maintained. I was a little disappointed that there wasn't a deck that you could walk all the way around the ship on the outside. The very front and back were restricted.
Dining/Food
As you'd expect on a cruise, there's almost always food available. I liked the AquaSpa healthier options for breakfast and lunch, so I didn't have to deal with the breakfast crowd to get my morning oatmeal. We did the select/flexible dining and usually went around 6:00 and were always seated right away. The main dining food was good and there was a good variety, though I was a little disappointed by the lack of local-type or Caribbean-style options for dinner. Most of the menu items seemed like things you could have anywhere.
Stateroom Quality
We had an oceanview stateroom. It was nice, though the layout was a little cramped. Wasn't expecting anything spacious, but I don't usually unpack my clothes and put them in drawers, but we really had to because there wasn't much room to set our suitcases out and no moveable luggage racks.
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
We didn't find many things to do in the evenings, since my husband wasn't too interested in the shows. Some of the things we were interested in, like wine tastings, charged an extra fee. There were several things scheduled each night, just nothing that really suited our interests. It was all right though, because we just relaxed on deck or in the hot tubs.

Impeccable service, great cruise!
by Kelly from Nashville, TN
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
Service, Attention to every need
Cons:
Never in port during evening
The ship itself was fantastic. Plenty of bars and restaurants, the people were happy and ready to serve every need. The rooms were extremely clean and nice. We stayed in a room with a window, and it was great.

They were still working on redoing the top deck in the back of the ship, which I think is going to be a lawn area. Had that been done, I would give it 6 smileys.
Dining/Food
They didn't pair us with people on the same beverage package, which made it somewhat awkward when ordering wine at dinner.

relaxing or busy as you like
by George M from St Paul, MN
Sailing date:

Pros:
food and service
The Summit is 10 years old, and certain things show their age (deck chairs, a few service doors, tile in the bathrooms etc.). Still, it is generally very well maintained and had had recent additions to make it more comparable to the Solstice-class ships. The food and over-all service is excellent, which is typical of Celebrity. The new Qsine restaurant is very fun and different from the main dining experience. Highly recommended! The ship has a pleasant and roomy feel in public areas (excluding the main dining and casino, of course) so there are few times that it feels crowded or loud. One oddity was the music choice - loud disco beat in the formal dining room, which tended to be turned off each night at the request of diners, but started again the next evening. This may seem like a small thing, but it really changes the tenor of the experience. Serene, new age by the pool, which didn't bother me, but I heard some wishing for a more exciting atmosphere. If you're wanting an experience of excellent service, and good food, Celebrity continues to be an excellent option. If you're wanting high-energy, loud and raucous, it probably isn't your best option.

Dining/Food
The new Qsine restaurant is fantastic! Watch for drink pricing, particularly in the Martini Bar. A vodka gimlet cost almost twice as much there - ouch.
Stateroom Quality
Starting to look a little worn...
Ship Staff Quality
Always well-trained and courteous. Of course you can always find exceptions, but the service is great.

by P.J. from Virginia
Sailing date:
Nov 2010
Pros:
Friendly crew - and on going activities....IF you want to !
Cons:
Food in dining room was "ok" not super wonderful
Have been on bigger cruises but this was perfect.....always something going on by the pool but not overwhelming to the point of annoying! Stateroom was WONDERFUL, and steward the best! Ports were fun, crews always willing to help with information.

Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Dining room food was "ok" but not wonderful....deck lunches were perfect and on going (5 lbs right there!) Buffet aft open all day and most the night, great selection of menus - on deck every morning at 6 for sunrise, coffee and danish...YUM!
Stateroom Quality
First time to have a veranda and now am spoiled! Door open every night to listen to the ocean and wind....Great size and lots of closet and drawer space....even the bathroom was roomy
Ship Staff Quality
Everyone willing to help or answer questions....most understand english enough to get by in the dining rooms, main staff were perfect.
Entertainment & Activities
Shows at night were very entertaining, great variety of acts....At the pool there was something going on most day (even when in port) and the use of the pool area for evening entertainment was exceptional.....full use of all venues.
