  Best trip ever by
Michelle M from Maryland Sailing date: Apr 2011Pros: The staff was the friendliest people on board, the rooms and food where A+ the excursions...beautiful Cons: The bus trips, felt like a cattle call, the islaners tried to put tooo many people on each bus There aren't enough words to say how wonderful this trip was, this was our first cruise and from the ease of booking threw ORBITZ and the sites, sounds, food I have nothing to compare it too. The most wonderful part was when one of the excursions we booked through ORBITZ didn't have a showing enough for the owner to take the catamaran out he stood by our tickets and showed us the time of our lives. Great family time and sightseeing by
A Traveler from West Chester, PA Sailing date: Jun 2010Pros: Activity crew, ports of call Cons: Not a lot of variety in food selection outside of official dining room; surly buffet workers Overall we had a great trip, mostly thanks to the activity crew and all the fun things they arranged. First impression of the ship was that it was showing a bit of its age (10 or so), however, as the week went on, we became quite comfortable and the wear and tear really didn't bother us. Ship QualityOverall was ok. Pool area was messy and interestingly, when the decks were wet, they became quite slippery. Public restrooms were quite clean. Other areas of the ship were kept in good order. Dining/FoodTried formal dining once - service took too long for our kids so we stuck with the buffet. Not much variety in food at buffet over course of the week at dinner, esp after 8 pm. They ran out of things frequently and drink machines were usually broken (too much ice, not enough, warm water instead of cold, only one milk machine working for skim milk, etc. The food service workers behind the buffet were quite surly and often difficult to communicate with. Stateroom QualityOverall worked out well. Small of course, but fine for sleeping and escaping for a few moments. Ship Staff QualitySplit vote here. Guest services was often difficult to get a hold of and never really seemed to be able to do much when you did. Buffet staff were not very friendly overall. Main dining room staff were very friendly but very slow. However, the activity staff were just AMAZING. Entertainment & ActivitiesVery very fun activities (bingo, trivia, song contests, scavenger hunts, ice carving demonsration, etc.) Great shows - amazing illusionist, Adam Trent and very funny and clear comedian, Fred Klett. Children's ProgramsEveryone seemed quite nice but our children decided they wanted to spend the time with us and we wanted them to be with us.

Newport, Rhode IslandThe biggest waste of time and source of frustration was waiting for tenders to take us to Newport!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! They absolutely have to get a better method of doing this. Wasted almost two hours waiting around to get numbers and then waiting for the numbers to be called to board the tenders. They should issue tickets for certain times the night before or the morning of and then have folks report back during those times or something like that.
Don't Miss: Cliff Walk, Mansions King's Wharf, BermudaBeaches, snorkeling, etc were amazing.
Don't Miss: Snorkeling at Church Bay 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  very good food by
David S from Westen Mass Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: food Cons: condition of ship The celebrity was a great choice for the dining experience. The layout of the ship was very poor (sailed last year on Royal Carribean Voyager of Seas-bigger and much easier to find your way around), the condition was Fair at best(was going in for electrical overhaul after this shortened cruise). The staff was friendly and excellent except for of all things, the guest relations department. Would recommend a more up to date ship, and prob more things to do. One minus was that you HAD TO PAY for using the steam and saunas (very cheesy), the only time in 4 cruises with different lines in which I had to. One more point is concerning deck smoking..It seems that you can smoke anywher on either side which is a problem for a non smoker like myself. The rules should be spelled out, or signage for it is horrible to have to breath that crap in, on a clear beautiful day at sea. Dining/Foodmuch better than bland food on Roayal, Costa, Carnival Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Qualityguest relations needed a bit of a refresher course on the topic. Stateroom atendant Joseph was excellent and remembered names as did waiter Joseph. Entire dining and stateroom staff could give Guest relations a lesson. Entertainment & Activitiespaying $100 extra for the suana and stem room is pathetic. The ship lists both but does not state that it costs extra in it's description, very misleading 5 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Impeccable service, great cruise! by
Kelly from Nashville, TN Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: Service, Attention to every need Cons: Never in port during evening The ship itself was fantastic. Plenty of bars and restaurants, the people were happy and ready to serve every need. The rooms were extremely clean and nice. We stayed in a room with a window, and it was great. Ship QualityThey were still working on redoing the top deck in the back of the ship, which I think is going to be a lawn area. Had that been done, I would give it 6 smileys. Dining/FoodThey didn't pair us with people on the same beverage package, which made it somewhat awkward when ordering wine at dinner. Stateroom Quality

relaxing or busy as you like by
George M from St Paul, MN Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: food and service The Summit is 10 years old, and certain things show their age (deck chairs, a few service doors, tile in the bathrooms etc.). Still, it is generally very well maintained and had had recent additions to make it more comparable to the Solstice-class ships. The food and over-all service is excellent, which is typical of Celebrity. The new Qsine restaurant is very fun and different from the main dining experience. Highly recommended! The ship has a pleasant and roomy feel in public areas (excluding the main dining and casino, of course) so there are few times that it feels crowded or loud. One oddity was the music choice - loud disco beat in the formal dining room, which tended to be turned off each night at the request of diners, but started again the next evening. This may seem like a small thing, but it really changes the tenor of the experience. Serene, new age by the pool, which didn't bother me, but I heard some wishing for a more exciting atmosphere. If you're wanting an experience of excellent service, and good food, Celebrity continues to be an excellent option. If you're wanting high-energy, loud and raucous, it probably isn't your best option. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe new Qsine restaurant is fantastic! Watch for drink pricing, particularly in the Martini Bar. A vodka gimlet cost almost twice as much there - ouch. Stateroom QualityStarting to look a little worn... Ship Staff QualityAlways well-trained and courteous. Of course you can always find exceptions, but the service is great. Entertainment & Activities

The best short term cruise ever by
Audrey E from Puerto Rico Sailing date: Mar 2011Pros: layout of the ship- genuinely friendly personnel-lectures Cons: beauty personnel too pushy The getting on/off of cruises is cumbersome and slow..but travel has changed anyway.
the ship was older but very well planned. Very good effort in maintenance. Clean. Dining/Foodshellfish and fish tend to be overcooked when brought to table. Other meals good flavor and creative pairings. Dining time about 30 min.too early for us. Like open seating. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Qualityseemed to act and react genuinely helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesAmazing array of talent and offerings considering the short duration.

  Lots of Fun by
Steve W from Upstate, NY Sailing date: Aug 2010Pros: Food, staff, activities. Cons: Ship is dated, could be cleaner. We took the Maine and Nova Scotia cruise on the celebrity Summit.
Pros: The itinerary, the food, size of stateroom, size of balcony, Normandie restaurant, staff.
Cons: Ship is getting old, not always the cleanest, smell in bathroom.
Overall lots of fun and would recommend the ship if you can live with an older dcor. The staff is great and there is a lot to do onboard. They do try to sell you something at every turn but I think that most cruises are like that. Dont miss the Normandie restaurant; my wife and I really enjoyed it. Ship QualityNeeds an update. Could be cleaner. Dining/FoodWe loved the food. Stateroom QualityNice size, could be cleaner. Ship Staff Quality

Good trip overall. Pre-boarding messy by
Sanjay S from Washington DC Sailing date: Jul 2010Pros: Friendly staff on board, good service and food. Cons: Rude baggage handlers pre-boarding. Not a pleasant experience to start the cruise. Overall we enjoyed the trip. Very polite staff on board and very helpful. Food selection could be better and more international. Pre-boarding and disembarkation is not very well coordinated and very unpleasant. Celebrity needs to improve this. Ship Quality

  Celebrity Summit Caribbean Cruise by
A Traveler from Houston, TX Sailing date: Mar 2010Pros: Wonderful itinerary and pampered care - a pleasant, professional, and attentive staff. Cons: Frankly, some of the other passengers - working hard to be This was our first cruise and we were very impressed. Excellent service from beginning to end - great shore excursion choices - amazing food - great on-board entertainment and activities for all ages and physical abilities. There was a wide range of ages on our cruise - from singles, couples with babies, teens, young adults, on to the elderly (although there weren't many of these), with a number of countries represented and quite a cross-section of the U.S. Service was absolutely excellent - we had no complaints. Guest Services promptly and professionally handled a few small issues we had, to our total satisfaction. One shore excursion was cancelled for reasons beyond the control of the ship, and we were promptly credited with the cost. We had staff assigned to our room and evening table, who remembered details like who drank decaffeinated coffee. I have never experienced such courteous and professional service - it was such a pleasure. Ship QualityLoved the ship - very clean, comfortable, and pleasant. Dining/FoodFood was excellent and abundant - served all hours. We chose select dining for dinner, with reservations each night. The food and service were both outstanding. For breakfast and lunch we did the buffets, which had a wide and varied choice of food - all excellently prepared. Stateroom QualityWe had a balcony stateroom which we loved - enough room to be comfortable and stow clothing and possessions out of the way, with a very pleasant balcony to enjoy the ocean views and often, for breakfast in our room. Ship Staff QualityThe ship's staff was unfailingly pleasant, helpful, and professional. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe attended evening performances and special events each night that we thoroughly enjoyed. Only problem was too many choices! 5 out of 7 people found this review helpful.
