Great Service!!
by Jane from Denver, Colorado, USA
Sailing date:
May 2007
Pros:
So hard to say, but probably the staff. They were top notch.
We felt we had been pampered all week long. Dining experiences were top notch. 5 star all the way. Staff were exceptional. We enjoyed the excursions. It was truly a trip of a lifetime, one we will always remember.

Cruise Glacier Bay
How beautiful. The trip to Glacier Bay was spectacular. It was nice having the National Forest Rangers on board to give us a running narative about the glaciers and the area.
Don't Miss:
Enjoy every minute. Take in as much of the glaciers as you can.
Cruise Inside Passage, Alaska
Wonderful experience. We enjoyed every minute off the ship at each of the ports.
Don't Miss:
The float plane trip to the Taku Lodge. Exceptional.
Juneau, Alaska
The best day, as it was our first. The Taku Lodge excursion was exceptional. We et so any nice people, and the staff there were wonderful. We saw a bear which was a thrill.
Don't Miss:
The Taku lodge experience.
Skagway, Alaska
Skagway was beautifu. We really enjoyed the shippong in Skagway as we had plenty of time to go into town before our excursion. The train trip was spectacular.
Don't Miss:
The train trip.

Not a spectacular cruise
by b.s. from miami, FLorida
Sailing date:
Dec 2008
Pros:
very nice staff
Cons:
not enough activities and food
We recently sailed on the Norweigen Pearl to the Cozumel,Belize, Honduras and Bahamas. We were traveling with our two year old son. The ship had a central buffet restaurant, two outside buffets that were ok. The food didn't change much everyday. After a while it becomes routine like a cafeteria. You have burgers, pizza, pasta, the same fruits and hardly any seafood. They also have two more formal restaurants that are free. Those were nice and had a little bit more variety. There are also some nice restaurants you can choos to eat at like a sushi bar. french restaurant and bistro. Those are really nice but you have to pay a $10 to $15 cover charge to get in plus a automatic gratuity. This holiday cruise was overpriced for what we got.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship is smaller than other cruise lines so you can feel the constant movement. Be also prepared to pay for ship excursions from $35 to $150 per person. Overall if you like a casual ship this would be perfect. There is no formal night and dont look for luxury. They were very clean n public areas and you get yours hand sanitized whereever you go.
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
The stateroom was really comfortable and room for plenty of storage. But if you are going to book a stateroom without a window please keep in mind you will get confused if it is day or night. The rooms are pitch black.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff were very nice
Entertainment & Activities
The ships entertainment consisted of one main theater, and ship activities like bingo and swimming, rockclimbing etc. Don't try the bowling alleys. Just think about the constant moving and bowling. They have bumpers so at least the ball will hit some pins. Also the poll is not heated.
Children's Programs
The only area for toddlers to play is an upstairs toddler pool and also day care. Unfortunately, if your child doesnt get along with some kids or just don't want to be left by their parents there is no other playground. Adults are not allowed to stay at the daycare and watch the activities. Children are also placed in group according to their age. Sometimes seemed big for some age groups. For example try sticking 12 kids 2-3 years together and see if they get along.

There was alot of poverty the only thing to see is the ruins or swimming. It wil cost from $45 or more per person to take a tour. Also shop right outside the gate of the terminal its cheaper.

Good points and bad
by Mary F. from Riverside, CA
Sailing date:
Sep 2008
Pros:
Clean and new
Cons:
Food was often cold
Fresh and clean. Didn't feel crowded. Lots of different areas to lounge in. Staff was overly solicitous, got annoying over time. Too many sales presentations, pushing product. Would have preferred more informational seminars on the lands that we were traveling through. Comedy shows were un-funny and often tasteless. Constant pushing of alcohol. Music in the lounges was good.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Free-style dining (whenever, no assigned seating) was perfect. But food in the restaurants (other than the buffet) was often cold and had to go back for reheating.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Too much of a good thing. Overly solicitous. International staff (mostly Asian) were sometimes hard to understand because of accent.
Entertainment & Activities
Too many sales pitches promoted as activities.

A significant amount of time in port was after sunset.
Ketchikan, Alaska
Creek Street is billed as a 'must see' but is nothing but souvenier shops along a raised wooden walkway.
Skagway, Alaska
The White Pass railway is billed as a 'must-see' but is not worth the $112 for a three hour train ride. The views are wonderful, but there is no opportunity to get out and walk about. Just sitting while the train goes up, then back down to the town.
Victoria, British Columbia
Poor only because NCL cancelled the port stop - just 10 days before the cruise - due to some mechanical problem with the ship. Offered to allow for cancellation without penalty but it was too late for that. NCL refused to provide any compensation for cutting the cruise from four port stops to three.

A wonderful Alaskan Cruise
by A Traveler from Oak Harbor, WA
Sailing date:
Sep 2010
Pros:
The scenery was always changing. We saw seal, whales and a bear was spotted on the shore. Lots of choices for shore excursions in most ports. The train ride in Juneau got rave reviews.
Cons:
The ship was beautiful, but our stateroom was the smallest we'd ever had.
It is a beautiful ship with wonderful splashes of color. The Spinaker Lounge has new types of interesting seating like two person lounging couches with sofa pillows, you could lay together facing the same direction or towards each other. They also had big round leather donut hole chairs that were tipped toward the view windows, and a big canopy bed in reds/gold for a bunch of friends to visit on?! The Summer Palace dining room was very pretty and bright. The Indigo was much darker and was more convenient to the casino and shows. It's an easy ship to get around except when folks were trying to find and look at their ship photos as that causes a traffic jam in an ordinarily passageway. We had a great time.

Stateroom was smaller than we anticipated for a handicapped room.

I would go again--the best compliment
by Deanna D from Sacramento, CA
Sailing date:
May 2010
Pros:
Freestyling, friendly staff, cleanliness; many tables for 2 in dining rm
Cons:
TV channels, need more info on the towns rather than so much on shopping
The best comment is whether one would repeat the experience.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
excellent accessibility. Loved the atrium seating (unique foot stools.)
Dining/Food
Absolutely wonderful dining room food. Perfert portions and seasoned to perfection.
Stateroom Quality
Loved the shower. Cooling/heating worked perfectly (sometimes unusual on a cruise.) A bit smaller than other cruise lines but adequate.
Ship Staff Quality
(Almost 100%) very cordial and seemed very happy with their jobs.
Entertainment & Activities
Entertainmt not quite as professional as other cruises but OK. Info about ports: would have liked some info about the town itself (historical) rather than 99% on shopping. Not all cruisers cruise to shop!! TV channels: should be a single channel with the TV schedule. Always had to view the (commercial) casino/spa/restaurant stuff every time to FINALLY get to channel selections.

Great Trip!
by Erika from Alexandria, VA
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
Food, Entertainment and Friendly Service
Cons:
High Prices
I was impressed with the overall ship. I have been on nicer and newer RC ships but this one wasn't bad. I missed having a large middle area with shops but this ship was pretty easy to get around.
Ship Details:
Dining/Food
The food was great! I was impressed, even the buffet was surprisingly diverse and delicious. My biggest complaint is the inconsistency in portion and taste. I was with a large group and if someone got the Cesar salad one night, it would be huge and delicious and the next night it would be miniscule. That is disappointing sometimes but overall I wasn't let down.
Stateroom Quality
Cleaned often and well but we were on the lowest floor and they were so puny. We had an advertised 4 person room and it was hard with just 2 people in it.
Ship Staff Quality
Very friendly and fun

Didn't want to leave!
by WilliamF from Minneapolis, MN
Sailing date:
Feb 2010
Pros:
Beautiful, clean, friendly ship. Supurb food. Good entertainment. Great service.
Cons:
Surprise tender day in Tortola, tough beef at all resturaunts.
This was our first cruise, but I researched extensively. The whole industry has a "Mickey Mouse" approach to liquor on board, but no different anywhere else. Super service, room steward and maid really a "cut above" any others. Only negative was that an implied docking at Tortola turned into a "tender" transfer for unknown reasons...they had to use the ship's own launches, which was time consuming and blew most of the day ashore. They did their best to work it out, and were very efficient in the face of this minor adversity. Food quality and cleanliness were excellent...only some tough beef (forget the "included" resuraunts for steak, prime rib, etc.) I heartily recommend this Cruise Line, this ship, and intend to go again!

Beautiful. Saw eagles, seals and whales, pretty awsome.

Awsome day! For me this was the best day of my trip, took kowisaki mule(like a golf cart) into the mountain. Highly recommend if your not a hiker. Better food than ship, with barbecued halibut. Did not see any bears but you could tell they were there. Do this one for sure.
Don't Miss:
Take the kowaski mule excursion!

by A Traveler from Tampa, FL
Sailing date:

Pros:
Dining room food and quality of entertainment
Cons:
The tendering system - very slow!!!
We took this trip as a last minute deal, so our expectations were not high (we are frequent cruisers). This ship/staff/trip exceeded our expecations!

Our stateroom steward and waitress were "the best". The front desk staff brought down the rating to just "good".
