More than other cruises we have been on, they were friendly and helpful. We always found something to do, from shopping, exercising, playing ping pong or shuffleboard to galley tours and a wine and food pairing seminar. The cabins were nicely decorated, and spacious. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great family vacation. Ship Details: Entertainment & Activities Activities: The gym was large, and had a variety of equipment available. I can't decide! While the cruise director was fantastic, we never saw him other than on his tv show or on stage. The excursions were well organized. The service of crewmembers was much better than average. The length of the cruise was perfect! Overall, this was a very fabulous vacation for traveling with three teenaged children. Ship Details: Dining/Food Stateroom Quality Decent size and storage. Ship Staff Quality Entertainment & Activities Entertainment: Only on Celebrity have we been impressed with a performer. It was a lower level talent than we are accustomed to as we are theater goers. This was our least favortie port. We did the Hagia Sophia, Topaki Palace and Blue Mosque. Too many people and you can't hear guides. Dining at Topaki Palace was horrible. Grand Bazaar was bothersome. We were not impressed overall. Don't Miss: The sites are beautiful. Izmir, Turkey Mary's House and Ephesus. Going to Mary's house was an incredible opportunity. We wished it wasn't as packed with people, but that was understandable. It was so nice to have this visual. Ephesus cannot be missed. There's still so much there uncovered. The history is incredible and it is preserved so you truly feel what it was like to walk the streets. Don't Miss: Mary's House/Ephesus. Naples, Italy A lot to do in Naples. We took the Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri excursion. It was 10 hours. It was long and hard and worth it because it was the only way to see a bit of everything. It was tough doing this excursion the first day as we were still dealing with the time change. But worth it, nonetheless. Don't Miss: Pompeii. Rhodes, Greece Don't plan excursion. This stop is easily done on your own. We got lost and were still back on the ship early. There's shopping, but it's bazaar style. We don't like to haggle, so we walked through. Beautiful people, culture and very friendly. Amazing water and views. Don't Miss: The old city walls and the little alleyways filled with wonderful, mysterious little shops. Naples, Italy Very good. Naples itself is ugly, for the most part. We opted to go to Pompei which was wonderful, interesting. Don't Miss: Capri and Sorrento(I had been there before), and Pompei if you like history. Messina, Sicily Taormina was fantastic -- beautiful -- and our favorite spot. Mt. Etna was erupting -- totally cool. We loved this port. Don't Miss: Finding out of the way places to eat; the canoli's; the wine; enjoying the people. Venice, Italy Would skip Venice next time. Had two rainy days. Big problem was rudeness of ticket sellers for water transfers back to ship. Carnival should have representative at docking area in Venice to direct passengers back to ship. Stingray City is a must see! Our guides were friendly. We ate a Margaritaville for lunch. Beware of the high cost! For 2 people, our total was $89.00 (1 app, 2 burgers, and a few drinks) Don't Miss: Stingray City and snorkeling Ocho Rios, Jamaica Our family did the Zipline and Dunn's River Falls. The Zipline was amazing. The workers were very friendly and funny. Dunn's Falls was fun. The tour guide tried to ask everyone for tips the minute we stepped out of the water. My housekeeper was awesome! He was very friendly and professional. All of the ship's staff were the same, very friendly and professional. Everyone wanted to make sure I had a great time on the cruise. The only problem I had was in Ocho Rios, Jamaica and that's not the fault of the cruise ship. I had a great time on the trip and thought the ship was excellent. Ship Details: Ship Quality Since I've been on 2 other Carnival cruises, I already knew the layout of the ship since they are just about all the same. I thought the interior looked great and clean, no problems with that. Public areas were kept up very well. Dining/Food I thought the food was great. It's not something of a 5-star restaurant, but it was still excellent. One thing I didn't like in the formal dining room was that they make the staff sing and dance. I just find that kind of tacky but some people really enjoyed it. I'm the kind of person that wants to talk to family and friends during dinner without being interrupted by unnecessary gimicks. Other than that, the food and restaurants were great. Stateroom Quality My room was 6375 which had a balcony and was very comfortable and clean. The only thing about my room that I did not like was that it was right over where a live band performs just outside of the casino so I would hear them playing until around midnight. It wasn't the worst thing in the world, but if you want peace and quiet, move up to deck 7. Ship Staff Quality My housekeeper was awesome! He made my room very clean and comfortable. When I asked for something, he was on the ball and got it. Entertainment & Activities There is always something to do on the ship. Bingo, trivia games, pools, shows, and more to entertain anyone. I didn't see any of the shows but I did find it to be a great variety of things to do. It was really beautiful and clean with no hassels from anyone. If you like history, check out the Little White House where President Truman used to conduct some of the country's business. Get some Key Lime pie while you're here too! Yummy! Don't Miss: Key Lime pie George Town, Grand Cayman I thought that Grand Cayman was just like any other tourist trap. Lots of locals trying to get you to take one of their tours and shops that looked the same on any other island. The streets didn't seem very clean and looked outdated. We didn't do any excursions but I heard snorkeling here is awesome. Ocho Rios, Jamaica Awful! Decided to walk into town and it turned out to be a huge mistake. Once you get out of the main gate, we were bombarded with taxi drivers/tour guides trying to get us to hire them by any means possible. Once you turned them down, they kept trying and trying even if you tell them you plan to walk to town (which is less than a mile away). Then when you turn down one guy, you have another in your face doing the same thing. It was constant harassment and we didn't get 1/2 mile before we ended up going back to the boat. The people we sat at dinner with went on an excursion and said it was awesome so if you plan to come here, go on an excursion (snorkeling) instead of trying to get to town.
