"Fun filled from start to finish" by
Lynn R from Catawba, NC Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: The balcony room Cons: Missing the time frame for certain buffets when boarding after a day at port We got what we paid for and that was a beautiful ship with alot to do and with staff members that cared about you and your needs....at all times! Ship QualityWe finally figured out which elevators took us to which parts of the ship...on the last day. Very clean and well decorated. Dining/FoodThe food was awesome. Our only wish would've been extending the lunch buffet hours because by the time we got back on the ship from our port days, the buffet was closing. Stateroom QualityThe balcony room was awesome. Enjoyed the view tremendously. Ship Staff QualityNever had the first issue! The staff was there for your every need! Entertainment & ActivitiesThe nightly entertainment was incredible! The band and the performers were truly talented and put on their best show possible each night. Excellent! 5 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

What a horrible excuse for a cruise by
Peter B from United States Sailing date: Jul 2011Pros: The destinations Cons: The overkill on photographers. This was my 8th cruise, and, by far, this was the worst one I have been on. The cabin smelled horrible (smelled like cigar smoke and exhaust), and after voicing my concern 4 times, they finally sent an engineer who fixed it in about 30 minutes. Why was this not done from the beginning?
The "evening shows" were amateurish as best. They were posted to begin at a set time, but the the ship's "fun crew" was so busy trying to sell "just one more ticket for bingo" that they were consistently 20 minutes late every night except the last night when they were over 45 minutes late starting.
There was no information to be found on-board about the ports of call EXCEPT for the shopping opportunities for the stores that had a commission back to Carnival (it was even stated in the fine print).
There were SO MANY photographers set up in the Promenade deck that it was almost impossible to walk through. I was actually afraid for my safety because the equipment blocked free movement in case of an emergency. Ship QualityRoom and hallways smelled horrible. Dining/Food

St. John's, AntiguaTook a local taxi to one of the beaches ($16 round trip)---secluded with about a half dozen people on it. Rented beach chairs and umbrella for $6 for The people on the ship sponsored trips were loudly complaining about how crowded the beaches were
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.Again took a taxi to a local beach ($14 each way). Chair free for the day--rented snorkeling equipment for $10 all day) Snorkeling right from the beach. Great food--the guy actually made frozen drinks using a blender he had running off his car battery!
While we were there, 3 different "Sail and Snorkel" from the ship stopped here to disgorge the folks from the ship for a 40 minute snorkel.
Nassau, BahamasHilton Day Pass = $45 which gave you run of the property, a $30 voucher for lunch/drinks and a free chair and towels. Easy walk from the ship.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.Booked the tour through Orbitz and it was great. The people who booked through the ship were not as happy. They felt rushed all day.

  GREAT CRUISE by
Adonis R. from Port Orange, FL. Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: STAFF Cons: jAMICA This was our second cruise with Carnival and all I can say was Wonderful this ship Freedom was the best we have ever been on . We have cruised on other cruise lines.
The state room was great/ we made our reservations 5 days before sailing and was told we had the last room so we figured we would have the worst room on board but our stateroom was very nice. It was our 43 year anniversary and the entire trip was great. Ship QualityExcellent we were very close to the elevator and stairs and everything was easy to get to Dining/FoodWe were a little disappointed in the desserts and the Pizza stand was not a all good bit everything else was great. Stateroom QualityPerfect for us and everything was perfect Ship Staff QualityEveryone went above and beyond to make sure we were Happy Entertainment & ActivitiesThe only thing I would add is that when telling about the tour of the Cayman Island is that to
take your passport with you so that when you visit " Hell" you can have your passport stamp

  Just perfect by
Sherman V. from Denver, CO Sailing date: May 2011Pros: relaxing and doing what we wanted. Cons: short time at ports It was our first cruise and it was just right. We had plenty of time to relax in the sun and do what we wanted. The staff was amazing and it was a much needed vacation. Ship QualityPerfect for first time cruisers. Dining/FoodI rated good because the buffet options were good but not great. I have to say that the formal dining room dinners were very good. Stateroom QualityIt seemed a little small when we first walked in but it really didn't matter since we were hardly in there. We only were there to sleep at night and take short naps. The stewards who were taking care of us were wonderful. Ship Staff QualityOur steward was the best there could have been. Friendly and ready to accomadate at a moments notice. Entertainment & ActivitiesActivities were plenty but we relaxed in the sun most of the time. The shows were good but when you compare them to Broadway and other big shows they were ok.

St. John's, AntiguaWe did the zip line canopy tour and it was fun. Only bad part was we were stuck behind some scared/slow people so we ended up waiting inbetween zip lines for a total of 30-45 mins.
Road Town, Tortola, B.V.I.We avoided the tourist trap beach (Meghan's Beach) and paid extra to go to Smuggler's cove beach and it was the best. It was on the other side of the island but it was nice and quiet. There were only about 20 people there and it was perfect.
Nassau, BahamasWe went to Atlantis and rode all of the water slides. This was fun but very very expensive. We only got to spend 5 hours there and paid $130 each. The rides were great but wish we had more time or it cost less.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.Went to Coki beach and it was great snorkeling. Only bad thing was you had to rent beach chairs, umbrellas, and the food was a little expensive.

  Our Cruise by
Nancy S from Port Huron MI Sailing date: May 2011Pros: ports, ship, food, service Cons: didnt stay long enough at the ports I was very impressed with the ship and its decor. Ship QualityI really didnt care for the dining being at opposite ends, because when one was closed you had to walk way down to the other end. It would be ok if you didnt have problems walking but we did. Dining/FoodWe ate at the Steakhouse and I was impressed with the food, but the location wasnt that great. It was below a sports court and was noisy and it also overlooked a sunbathing deck, not directly over looking the ocean. Stateroom Qualitythe size of this interior room was wonderful, although it was noisy when docking or taking off. It was on the lower deck and towards the front of the ship. Ship Staff Qualityeveryone was wonderul Entertainment & Activitiesexcellent entertainment

Would not go to these ports again. by
Timothy K from Isanti, Minnesota Sailing date: Nov 2008Pros: Jamaica Cons: Key West, Grand Cayman, buffet food I was on the Carnival ship "Freedom", we went through Key West, Grand Cayman Islands, and Ocho Rios Jamaica. If you like to shop then you will have a great time in Key West and Grand Caymen Islands, there was nothing else to do. We had a riot in Jamaica, there was not enough time to see all that we wanted to, the people were very friendly there. The cruise ship Freedom, had a lot of great staff from the room stewards to the formal dining area but the buffet left a lot to be desired, food that was supposed to be hot was cold (and in a lot of situations not cooked thoroughly), and food that was supposed to be cold was warm, by the end of the cruise they were running out of stuff in the buffet area. Overall, I would give this cruise a "D". Ship QualityShip was clean and room stewards did an excellant job. Dining/FoodFormal dining area had some fantastic food, stuff you would find in a 5 star restaurant, the buffet left a lot to be desired, food was not totally cooked (breakfast foods), they ran out of items by the end of the cruise. Stateroom Qualityfantastic Ship Staff Qualitymost were great, there were a few that acted like we were an inconvenience. Entertainment & Activitiesgreat shows, but would not recommend going to the adult comedy show if you do not want to hear a lot of profanity.

Key West, Floridagreat for shopping, not much else to see
George Town, Grand Caymangreat commercialized port with lots of shopping
Ocho Rios, Jamaicadidn't have enough time to get to everything I wanted to do like the white water rafting. The only thing I did not like about Jamaica is when you get off the ship you are hounded by taxi drivers trying to get your business and do not like to hear no.

Diane L. from Coleman, WI Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: I enjoyed the many different types of entertainment from comedy to musicals Cons: Having a cabin on level 6 above the stage, you could hear everything and had trouble sleeping. Very nice ship. Crew and staff did a wonderful job. Ship Quality

  Wonderful cruise? by
Angie A. from Florida Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: The cabin appeared to be well thought out to provide the most space available. Cons: The food was just o.k., with the exception of dinner in the dining room. More charges were added to my credit card 2 days later. Carnival Freedom had plenty of room for the more than 3000 passengers on our cruise. It is a fairly new ship and looked it. Our state room was small but not cramped like some of the other ships I have sailed on previously. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodDinner in the dining room was fantastic. The buffet was not as good as the buffets on other ships. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityThe ship had fantastic staff. Everyone seemed happy and worked very hard to make sure the ship was spotless. Entertainment & ActivitiesHalf of the shows were just all right. The other half were great.

Key West, FloridaI found it too touristy.
George Town, Grand CaymanI stopped at a restaurant and bar for some drinks, but don't remember the name of it. They were serving nachos, hamburgers, chicken strips, fries, etc., which did not interest me at all. I would have liked to try local cuisine.
Ocho Rios, JamaicaIt rained the day we got to Ocho Rios, so it was like a waste of time.

  Very Enjoyable!! by
Kristie H. from Montgomery, AL Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: The ship and staff Cons: The bed This ship is easier to maneuver than others I have been on. Our room was at a point in the ship that we had access to everything, but had privacy as needed. It was just large enough, but not too big to get around in a hurry. Ship QualityThe ship was well maintained and in great condition. Everything was clean and the fixtures, furnishings and carpets were new looking and not worn. Dining/FoodThe food was easy to get to and of course wonderful. Something for everyone. We ate lunch in the dining room one day and it was very nice as well and a change from the buffet. Stateroom QualityThe room is small of course but large compared to others I have stayed in. Everything was clean and well maintained. The location of the room was excellent as far as being able to get everywhere and still maintain privacy. The bed was not as comfortable as others I have had. The beds are twin pushed together and there was nothing to hold the mattresses together making it difficult to keep them together. No biggie though overall. Ship Staff Quality100% THE BEST!!!! Entertainment & ActivitiesSomething for everyone. I did a lot of nothing, so it was fine for me. The shows were top notch quality, and very interactive and fun! 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Daffy from Jacksonville, FL Sailing date: Dec 2010Pros: The service was outstanding and they were anlento balance my spouses needs with the kids needs Cons: The food quality was ok. They were good to offer healthy options at every meal The ship was nice and large. Perfectly suited for everyone. Highly recommend balcony room off the back of the ship. Sunset from your room every night. My daughter went from hating daycare at home to begging to go to camp carnival on the ship.
