A wonderful honeymoon by
William M from Wilmore, KY Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: We didn't have to worry about anything. From activities to food, we were covered. Cons: Everything was crowded. I guess that is to be expected, but it was still the only downside. We really enjoyed everything; the ship appeared to be in great shape, and all the public areas were clean. Ship Quality

  mediocre cruise by
A Traveler from Virginia Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: Spa treatments and Spa team was great Cons: the food was just ordinary- when asked if there were nuts ( food allergy) in items - serving staff did not know. And even after being told that nuts were a problem, was given food items with nuts in it and on top of it. We were on the 11th floor- Spa Deck. because we thought it would be quiter. Above us was people walking around , the kids playng basket ball. There was the announcement about not disposing of cigarrette ashes and trash off the decks, but we would get hit by these items when on the deck. Formal dining attire was not enforced. People came to the dining rooms in shorts, t-shirts, sandles, baseball hats etc. This made what was suppose to be a formal situation into a joke. There was not really a variety of food choices one would not prepare for themselves at home. With Nuts being a huge allergy issue with a great deal of people there were many items with nuts in them.
On the plus side the Spa team was great. On the negative the whirlpool had cold water in it. The Sauna and Steam rooms were on a 30 minute cycle and unless you hit them at the right time you could not use them. Ship Quality
Dining/Foodgarden every day foods, formal dining options were not really formal because people came in shorts, t-shirts, sandles, baseball hats etc. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualitySome of the staff were very helpful and interactive. Some acted like they did not want to be there especially in the shops. Entertainment & Activitiessome of the activities were offered late in the evening - 10 pm or later. And only offered on time the entire cruise . 1 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Disapppointing food quality by
Sue K from Hickory, NC Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: Ports, ship ammenities & cost Cons: Poor food quality and was often served barely warm Good. Ship if fairly new and appeared clean and well maintained. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodWere not able to get our preferred dinner time and maitre'd was only able to give us anytime seating option. Quality and appropriate temperature (never hot and barely warm) was not what we have come to expect from Carnival. Lobster was mussy, dark meat turkey turned out to be processed turkey roll and the breakfast meats on the Lido buffet were never warm. Stateroom Quality

Not comparable to Princess Cruise Line.. by
A Traveler from Detroit, MI Sailing date: Nov 2011Pros: Friendly porters, waterslide. Cons: Same poor selection of fruit/food, Salt water pools, Constant headache caused by the 12 different colors and patterns in everyroom, availability of chairs on the deck, Short amount of time at ports. The ship was good overall but they needed to redo the menu and make the times of the buffet less random and more often. We didn't like that we were an hour late to our shore excursion because the ship failed to inform us of the time difference on the ship and on the islands we visited..very embarrassing!! Ship Quality
Dining/FoodNot a variety.. Stateroom QualityHard beds. Ship Staff QualityPorter was excellent but most staff didn't speak English. Entertainment & Activities
Children's ProgramsLots of options for the kids :)

Nassau, BahamasBad shore excursion, bad location to snorkel was dangerous with other boats and ships zooming by..scary!!
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.The Best, we went snorkeling with the sea turtles :) Saw 3 turtles and sting rays and held one sea urchin. Very good! Chris and Donny were the best!
Don't Miss: Half day snorkel with sea turtles = AWESOME! 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  A Good Cruise! by
A Traveler from Jupiter, FL Sailing date: Jun 2011Pros: The Shows at night! It was very impressive...they were like Broadway shows! Cons: They showed 2-3 movies on an 8 night cruise; The Library was only open 1 hour in late morning and early evening for 1 hour; only 70's Disco for adults at a certain time (for dancing) I had never been on a cruise before and maybe my expectations were too high after people raved about them...but my experience was nice. I wouldn't say I had a "fabulous" time...but it was nice. It was something different. Ship QualityThe ship was not very big and there were only 2 pools that were very small. However, the ship was VERY CLEAN! Decor was nice, a little cheap, but nice. Dining/Food

Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThe activities were ok...not that great...but the entertainment shows at night were "fantastic"! They were "broadway style and quality" shows...very impressive!!!! Children's ProgramsThere weren't many "teenage" activities that were age appropriate. The teen activities were a little childish. My teen boys didn't want to do the activities.

Cozumel, MexicoThe "Extreme Carribbean Jeep Adventure" was GREAT! My boys loved it, even Mom and Dad! It was even better because it had rained the day before and the day we did it, so there were BIG mud puddles to go through...very muddy! The "All Pros Tours" were WONDERFUL and very friendly! We had them all to ourselves!
Don't Miss: The "mini-jeep" through the beach/jungle tour!!! Colon, PanamaThe shopping was horrible and the people in the shops at the port were very rude and things were pricey. There wasn't much to this port...I wouldn't visit here again.
Puerto Limon, Costa RicaWe did the Bus/Boat/Train Excursion! It was good...the boat ride was the best...we had a few interesting events happen!
Don't Miss: Banana Plantation! 1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  A needed vacation by
Thomas M from New Windsor, New York Sailing date: Aug 2010Pros: Chic dining room. Cons: Buffet dining room. The Freedom was a nice ship. Layout of the floors was a liitle difficult to manage. Elevator lobby lights defining whether an elevator was going up or down could only be seen from directly in front of the elevator prompting passengers to run around to see which elevator was going where they wanted to go. When a show got out elevators were inadequate for the passenger load. Only one lounge for cigar smokers and it was not available periodically when the lounge was set up for private group functions. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodCould use more variety in the buffet dining room. Chic dining room had excellent wait staff and good selection of appetizers and entrees. Free style dining worked out great. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesCould use more entertainment for in between shows. Interactive games and activities.

Cozumel, MexicoJeep adventure was great. Good guides. Good Jeep vehicles. Interesting history to the sites visited. Swimming in the underground caves was great. The drive back through Playa Del Carmen was fun but you should be used to driving in New York type traffic. Food at the beach was very good. Watch out for the low height umbrellas at the beach.
Don't Miss: Underground caverns Colon, PanamaNeeds more activities to appeal to visitors. Did not do any excursions at this port. Perhaps a scooter adventure to see the countryside.
Puerto Limon, Costa RicaDo the zip line. Great staff sets you up with the harnesses and are constanly alert to give you a safe experience. Make sure to look through the canopy for native animals. I was enjoying zipping through the canopy on the cable so much I didn't look for the canopy dwellers.
Don't Miss: Zip line adventure. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  relaxing sunny cruise by
Cathy R. from Cincinnati, OH Sailing date: Mar 2009Pros: Grand Cayman Cons: Jamaica - way too many "gauntlets of peddlers" to wade thru a very nice large ship. You can tell they are cutting back some but it is still nice. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Qualityour steward was excellent, some of the staff verged on rudeness, probably tired of seeing "rich, fat" Americans enjoying things they cannot (sorry, that was my impression) Entertainment & Activities

Key West, FloridaDo not do "Taste of Key West", waste of time, not much eating
George Town, Grand Caymanwe did stingray city on the Allura, it was terrifice. Tons of boats and people at the site, though. People super nice, vendors super nice
Ocho Rios, Jamaicathe planatation tour was excellent and the people there really nice, everything else a waste of time. Taj Mahal shopping plaza a joke (Indians and Pakistanis selling chinese junk), Dunn's river falls was beautiful but so many people and everyone wanting a tip, plus the "gauntlet of peddlers" to get to the exit was extremely annoying.

Diane L. from Coleman, WI Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: I enjoyed the many different types of entertainment from comedy to musicals Cons: Having a cabin on level 6 above the stage, you could hear everything and had trouble sleeping. Very nice ship. Crew and staff did a wonderful job. Ship Quality

  Great Trip! by
W P from San Francisco, CA Sailing date: Dec 2008Pros: Entertainment & Excursions Cons: Food was very mediocre We were totally surprised by the excellent dancers and live entertainment. It is clear that they did the very best possible with the resources (music, staging, and costumes). The dancers worked hard (and we didn't even necessarily liked the music). Also, if you select the right shore excursions - we took a canal cruise in Costa Rica and a city tour of Panama City - you will also be delighted. Very, very informed hosts. The only negatives were of the ship itself - tacky and over the top decor. Also, the food looked good but were neither delectable to the palate nor aromatic. So, it filled the stomach without being fulfilling. Ship QualityThe only negatives were of the ship itself - tacky and over the top decor.
Staff, service, and cleanliness were excellent, however. Dining/Food Also, the food looked good but were neither delectable to the palate nor aromatic. So, it filled the stomach without being fulfilling. Stateroom QualityComfortable sheets and towels. Clean. Attentive. Just the over the top decor. Pink everywhere. They really need to have fired the original interior designer. Ship Staff QualityGreat stateroom and dining staff.
Just wished they had a few less loudspeaker announcements. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe're use to Broadway, so we were totally surprised by the excellent dancers and live entertainment. Cozumel, MexicoLots of outdoor sporting activity options. Mexicans are always welcoming.
Colon, PanamaThe port city itself is not great. The ride from Colon to Panama City was unexpectedly interesting. I am not a big boat guy but the canal was more interesting than I anticipated. And Panama City is quite cosmopolitan.
Don't Miss: The old city of Panama City is quaint and beautiful. Puerto Limon, Costa RicaThe port city itself is not great. But the excursion was excellent. Just have reasonable expectations of seeing wildlife in Costa Rica. It is not like vising a zoo where the animals are all crammed together. It's sparse as is the case in wild areas. Loved the sloths!
Don't Miss: Canal tour! The wildlife soak up the sun by the river. Great guides! 6 out of 10 people found this review helpful.
