Sailing date: May 2010 Pros: Just went on my first cruise and I am still in awe of the whole experience. The service was outstanding and everyone was so nice. The food was great and there was always something to do if you wanted to. A great mixture of activities and relaxation. Cons: The embarkment process took forever. I felt like we were cattle being driven to slaughter. Cruised on the Carnival Freedom ship. It was extremely clean and had great amenities. Our room was great especially with the balcony. We spent a lot of time enjoying being out there. Well worth the extra money. The food was outstanding......something for everyone. The service was wonderful.....I felt like a queen. Had to walk quite far to even reach the tram. The tour was 1 hour long and not much time was spent on any of the sights making picture taking difficult. Don't think it was worth the money. George Town, Grand Cayman AC bus much more comfortable but small for tall people, difficult getting in and out of the seats. Tour was interesting and picture taking was easier. Ocho Rios, Jamaica Enjoyed this tour the most. Again the bus was hard to get in and out of but what can you do. Cons: Need more for the older people & more instructions for first-timers The ship was huge and was very beautiful. Our stateroom was very nice & comfortable and always clean with plenty of towels & etc. Crew was very good & we enjoyed the shows a lot. Sailing date: Apr 2010 Pros: STAFF Cons: jAMICA This was our second cruise with Carnival and all I can say was Wonderful this ship Freedom was the best we have ever been on . We have cruised on other cruise lines. The state room was great/ we made our reservations 5 days before sailing and was told we had the last room so we figured we would have the worst room on board but our stateroom was very nice. It was our 43 year anniversary and the entire trip was great. Ship Details: Ship Quality Excellent we were very close to the elevator and stairs and everything was easy to get to Dining/Food We were a little disappointed in the desserts and the Pizza stand was not a all good bit everything else was great. The ship was clean, there was nothing out of place. I liked the decorations. Overall, I felt as though I was on a fancy floating resort. I really had a wonderful time on this ship. Ship Details: Ship Quality Dining/Food The food was wonderful - I just wished there was more variety. Stateroom Quality The stateroom was a whole lot better than I expected. I expected a tiny room with not much in it. It exceeded my expectations. Ship Staff Quality The entire staff was friendly. They were ready to help whenever needed. I can't decide! While the cruise director was fantastic, we never saw him other than on his tv show or on stage. The excursions were well organized. The service of crewmembers was much better than average. The length of the cruise was perfect! Overall, this was a very fabulous vacation for traveling with three teenaged children. This was our least favortie port. We did the Hagia Sophia, Topaki Palace and Blue Mosque. Too many people and you can't hear guides. Dining at Topaki Palace was horrible. Grand Bazaar was bothersome. We were not impressed overall. Don't Miss: The sites are beautiful. Izmir, Turkey Mary's House and Ephesus. Going to Mary's house was an incredible opportunity. We wished it wasn't as packed with people, but that was understandable. It was so nice to have this visual. Ephesus cannot be missed. There's still so much there uncovered. The history is incredible and it is preserved so you truly feel what it was like to walk the streets. Don't Miss: Mary's House/Ephesus. Naples, Italy A lot to do in Naples. We took the Pompeii, Sorrento and Capri excursion. It was 10 hours. It was long and hard and worth it because it was the only way to see a bit of everything. It was tough doing this excursion the first day as we were still dealing with the time change. But worth it, nonetheless. Don't Miss: Pompeii. Rhodes, Greece Don't plan excursion. This stop is easily done on your own. We got lost and were still back on the ship early. There's shopping, but it's bazaar style. We don't like to haggle, so we walked through. Beautiful people, culture and very friendly. Amazing water and views. Don't Miss: The old city walls and the little alleyways filled with wonderful, mysterious little shops. Naples, Italy Very good. Naples itself is ugly, for the most part. We opted to go to Pompei which was wonderful, interesting. Don't Miss: Capri and Sorrento(I had been there before), and Pompei if you like history. Messina, Sicily Taormina was fantastic -- beautiful -- and our favorite spot. Mt. Etna was erupting -- totally cool. We loved this port. Don't Miss: Finding out of the way places to eat; the canoli's; the wine; enjoying the people. Venice, Italy Would skip Venice next time. Had two rainy days. Big problem was rudeness of ticket sellers for water transfers back to ship. Carnival should have representative at docking area in Venice to direct passengers back to ship. More than other cruises we have been on, they were friendly and helpful. We always found something to do, from shopping, exercising, playing ping pong or shuffleboard to galley tours and a wine and food pairing seminar. The cabins were nicely decorated, and spacious. The staff went out of their way to ensure we had a great family vacation. Ship Details: Entertainment & Activities Activities: The gym was large, and had a variety of equipment available. The staff is very friendly and gets to know you by name in about a day. They are intentional about making sure you know that while you are their guests, you are on vacation and they will do everything they can to make sure you are taken care of. I was very impressed about the level of cleanliness they kept the ship. Everything is constantly being cleaned. Ship Details: Ship Quality Large ship and very stable in the water. Dining/Food Stateroom Quality The cabin is always cleaned and ready for you as you come back. They also respect that if you want to be more eco-friendly, they only will replace towels on the floor. Otherwise they will tidy up and let you reuse your towels. Ship Staff Quality The staff assigned to you get to know you by name very quickly and become like good friends.
