  Lots of fun by
A Traveler from Cleveland, OH Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Entertainment Cons: Repetition of food items at the buffet We had a great time on the cruise. We had a lot to eat and do. The staff were friendly and made us feel at home.
Majority of the the passengers were above the age of 50 which at the beginning made us feel a little out of place. Eventually were felt very comfortable. Most of them were very friendly and had a lot to tell us.
Overall we had an awesome experience with celebrity century and would recommend this cruise line to anyone interested in taking a cruise Ship Quality

  2012 Celebrity Century review by
Dean O from Minnesota Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: Food, Stateroom Service, Ship Cleanliness and Interior quality, Shows Cons: Mandatory 15 percent across the board gratuity, disco closed for crew party all night Excellent overall, on par with Princess, very good cruise program director and shows, food excellent for dinner and good for all other meals, late night so great - high average age of passengers meant not many people to party and dance with late if you like that sort of thing, very few singles, overall service was excellent, music entertainment geared for the older crowd Ship Quality

Pleasant, late season cruise to Alaska by
Gian G. from San Diego, CA Sailing date: Sep 2011Pros: Food in the main dining room was excellent along with the service from the wait staff. The entertainment on the ship was top notch every night and there were plenty of activities to do Cons: The ship is a little bit smaller and older than the gigantic ships that are being churned out by Celebrity and the other cruise lines. This ship felt a little old and needs a re-model. The activites are geared towards an older crowd. The ship itself felt a little dated but was adequate for our cruise itenerary, Some of the lounges were a bit small for the activities being conducted and often times got crowded. The theater was good sized and there were a great array of shows every night. The dining in the Grand Restaurant was excellent every night and our 2 waiters were top notch in service, while the buffet in the Island Cafe left a little to be desired. The hours were a little short as well (closed at 9:30 every night), so if you had a late day on shore and came back after that all that was available was pizza. The cinema was small and was indoors unlike the Movies Under the Stars that Princess Cruise Lines has on their ships. Ship QualityShip was easy to navigate and you could be anywhere within 5 minutes. The pool area was a little small and only 1 pool was heated so that was quite crowded. Theater was nice for shows. The Martini Bar was the site of many activities but was too small a venue for many of them. Dining/FoodI only give this a "good" rating because of the buffet. The main dining room was excellent and I would recommend eating there every night if possible. The buffet was OK for breakfast but was the same every day. You can only eat eggs, bacon, and sausage so many times before you start to feel sick to your stomach. The dinner and lunch buffet times were too short and left much to be desired. I did like the ice cream bar that was open for much of the day. Stateroom QualityComfortable for what it is meant for...sleeping and taking a shower. Not a great place to hang out. The bed was adequate but nothing special. The windows in the oceanview staterooms were a little bigger than I thought they would be. The TV's were too small and had a very limited number of channels. Shower curtains were a little moldy and should have been changed out along with the carpet. Closets smelled musty. Ship Staff QualityThe best ship staff I have ever had the pleasure of being around. Everybody is friendly and willing to talk with you. The cruise director staff did a great job with the Celebrity Life Activities and were very accessible and personable. Entertainment & ActivitiesI only thing I didn't like was that some of the activities overlapped each other and I wasn't able to do all of them. This cruise is geared towards an older crowd so there were not a lot of night time activities.

Icy Strait Point (Hoonah), AlaskaNot very much to do at this port except for shop at the stores. The tribal dance show is interesting but a can't miss activity. The forest tram is a waste of time and not very fun. The Zip line was closed because of the weater at the end of September but is supposed to be their biggest attraction.
Don't Miss: Zip Line Juneau, AlaskaThe Mendenhall Glacier and Mt. Roberts Tramway are both must see items. Take the tram to the top of Mt. Roberts and look for Bald Eagles in the trees on the way up. If you are in good shape take a hike up one of the trails and look out for bears. We saw one not more than 30 feet for our trail just a short hike from the visitor center. When you go to the glacier, make the walk out to the waterfall. It is amazing and you will not be disappointed.
Don't Miss: Mendenhall Glacier Ketchikan, AlaskaThe Lumberjack Show was fun. It was pouring rain all day so this is all we were able to see.
Don't Miss: Lumberjack Show Seattle, WashingtonThe Space Needle is cool but don't waste your money on the restaurant. The prices are outrageous and you have to spend a minimum of $50 to sit in the restaurant without paying the elevator fee. Entrees are at least $20 each. Check out the Experience Music Project in Seattle Center and go to the Sound Lab to play around with the instruments. It is a good way to waste several hours. Check out the flying fish at the Pike Place Market Fish Store
Don't Miss: Space Needle San Francisco, CaliforniaSo many things to see and do in this city. The Golden Gate Bridge is a must do activity. If you have a car I would reccommend driving to Twin Peaks where you will have a view of the entire city to the north and the hills to the south. It is amazing. The Ferry Building on the Embarcadero is popular hang out for the foodies and there are several interesting restaurants. If you are looking for good workout. Try walking up the steps on Telegraph Hill to Coit Tower. You will be tired after that!
Don't Miss: The Golden Gate Bridge Skagway, AlaskaThe White Pass Summit is beautiful. We were lucky enough to go when fresh show had fallen the night before at the end of September. The town is very rustic and has many old historic buildings. The cementary is something you could pass on but if you do go there, take the walk to the waterfall for some beautiful pictures.
Don't Miss: White Pass/Yukon Railroad 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  Good cruise by
Mike C. from Tampa, FL Sailing date: Mar 2011Pros: The Entertainment & Staff Cons: Limited Shore Excursions in Roatan, Honduras I found the public areas to be well taken care of; my stateroom was showing its age for example the closet doors needed some work and a touch of painting sa well as the balcony door latch that would not keep the door closed during rough seas. Ship Quality

Cozumel, MexicoI enjoyed the ruins at Tulum; though having more time at the site would have been good.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, HondurasThe island was beautiful; I signed up for scuba diving but due to a health condition they highly recommended that I not go. I believe Orbitz needs to be clearer in its statement regarding this shore excursion.

  This trip was awesome! by
A Traveler from Colorado Sailing date: Mar 2011Pros: We loved the intimate atmosphere on the Celebrity Century, affording rest, relaxation, fun activities and excellent service Cons: What's not to like? Although the Celebrity Century is not a large cruise ship, we enjoyed all the same luxuries and service we would have on a larger ship. The price was amazing, the food was wonderful, the staff were excellent, the ports of call had plenty of fun activities to do, and we returned from this trip feeling more rested and relaxed than at any other time. We can't wait to go to Alaska next! Ship QualityIt's true, less really IS more! We never felt overwhelmed or lost on this ship, yet it still had all teh amenities you would expect on a larger ship. Dining/FoodFood was great, the dining room was elegant, restaraunts were always open with interesting food choices. The service was just the best! Stateroom QualityAgain, far surpassed our expectations. Ship Staff QualityWe wanted to take them home with us! Entertainment & ActivitiesThere was a channel on the TV in our room that lets you know what's happening each day, the schedule of activities on board as well as off. Plenty of things to do for both adults and children of all ages. Children's ProgramsOur teenager had just as much fun as we did meeting new friends and participating in activities onboard. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

A Good Cruise, Not Fantastic by
Arianne T from Salt Lake City, UT Sailing date: Dec 2010Pros: The staterooms were spacious and attractive, good service throughout the ship Cons: Very little to do onboard, food quality in the dining room wasn't as high as I'd hoped The ship itself was nice. Despite being older, I saw no signs of wear except on our balcony (it needed new paint on the floor). Everything looked updated and well decorated. Our stateroom (balcony, concierge class, deck 9) was roomy, had tons of storage, and had a nice bathroom. The linens were attractive and soft, though the beds were a bit firm.
The food was good. I wouldn't say great, but good. Lots of variety. We ate breakfast in the buffet (tons to choose from-the best was the made-to-order Eggs Benedict, worst were the previously frozen pancakes). We either ate lunch at the buffet or at the pool-side grill (great burgers). The lunch buffet too had a wide variety, though quality varied depending on what you chose. Dinner we ate freestyle in the main dining room. We never had to wait, were always given excellent service, and had plenty of choices for appetizers, soups and salads, entrees and desserts. Again the food varied. Some was absolutely delicious, others tasted like high end buffet food, but not like a fine restaurant. We had dinner the last night at the buffet as we were too full for another big meal, and we found the choices of sushi, Indian food, made-to-order pasta and other items just as good as the main restaurant. Room service was the only food disappointment. Not only was the selection quite small, but the service was slow and they always got something wrong. Our food almost always lacked something that had been in the description of it and usually was missing something major like salad dressing or a side of fruit. It was like playing roulette to see if would get what you ordered.
The embarkation/debarkation were always quick and smooth. We never had to wait in big lines getting on or off the ship. The excursions were nice and well-planned. The Dunns River Falls and Dolphin Swim was awesome and I would do it again in a heartbeat.
Service on the ship was probably the best part. Everyone was friendly and eager to help. Our room steward wasn't overly present as they were on our previous cruise, but they did a good job of keeping the room up and meeting our needs. Ship QualityDon't worry about this being an older ship. It didn't show. They've done a great job of updating it, from thes staterooms to the dining rooms, to the lounges. It looked wonderful. My only complaint about the ship was the toilets. They are poorly designed so that the toilet paper sticks to the bowl and never flushes down on its own. They put toilet wands (long-handled) next to every toilet on board, so you could give your TP a scoot to where the water would catch it, but it got tannoying having to do this EVERY time you went to the toilet, in your stateroom and in public restrooms, especially for me, a pregnant woman who had to go quite often!) Dining/FoodI would categorize the food as good, but not spectacular. We never did eat in the specialty restaurant, but both the buffet and main dining room varied widely as to the quality. I felt like the buffet was generally of a higher quality than the buffet on our Norwegian cruise, but not as good in the dining room as the several restaurants on our Norwegian cruise. The service and decor in the main restuarant, however, were wonderful. Stateroom QualityWe had a concierge class balcony room. It was pretty spacious, had tons of storage, had a good sized, updated bathroom with a nice shower head and lots of extas. The beds were a bit firm for my taste, but not rock hard. The pillows and linens were nice. The TV was a new flatscreen. The balcony was so-so. I might not consider paying extra for it next time as we used it a lot less than I thought I would and it was rather small. Overall, I think the room was the most impressive part of the cruise. I also really liked being on deck 9. It was nicely spaced between the pool at deck 11 and the restaurant/theater on deck 7. No public rooms above or below, so it stayed quiet. And being aft, we hardly felt any rocking. Ship Staff QualityWe had great service from our waiters in the main restaurant. Our room stewardess kept up on things and was very polite when we saw her, which was rare; she seemed to know when we were gone and always had things perfect by the time we got back. Every waiter or staff member in the hall said hello and smiled. We never had anyone be rude or discourteous. I think the concierge was a bit under-knowledgeable, but she was very eager to try to work things out after my husband's golf excursion got cancelled. The only really annoying staff members were the activities director and his right hand man, who dominated all the TV channels with commercials for onboard shopping and made tons of announcements but did very little actual activity directing as far as I could tell. Entertainment & ActivitiesThis is where this ship really lost points compared to our other cruise and compared to the descriptions of the other cruise lines we haven't been on. There was almost nothing to do in terms of built-in entertainment (rock walls, skating rinks, putting greens, etc.). Even the golf simulator they advertised was un-findable. We searched for it four or five times, even asked directions to it, but we could never find a door open or marked for it. So at-sea days really only had the option of sitting by the pool. We couldn't even find any shuffle board decks. As far as other entertainment, the guest comedian was excellent, but the broadway-ish numbers were like a high school production. And we never seemed to be able to find much else going on other than wine/food classes that costed a lot or lectures/classes about this and that boring thing. Nothing really entertaining . So with the last 2 days of the cruise too windy and cold for the pool, and the TV channels sparse, we were bored!!! 26 out of 26 people found this review helpful.
