Great Cruise by Tricia B from East Hartford, CT
Sailing date: Apr 2013

Pros:
The food was fabulous. The service couldn't have been better.

Upon entering the Liberty one is struck by its beautiful design. The buffet food had a great selection and was very good. The main dining room is really a highlight of the day. The wait staff are very polite and helpful. The dinner menu was great. We also enjoyed the music on the Ledo deck. It was a fun cruise. We enjoyed it very much.

Pros:
The food, friendly crew.

Cons:
So much booze.

The ship was excellent...clean, well organized. We were especially impressed with the friendly and helpful crew. They were always pleasant, with a friendly greeting, calling us by name. This included the housekeeping crew as well as the dining room waiters.

Relaxing, Fun and Paradise! by Steve M from New York, NY
Sailing date: Feb 2013

Pros:
Ports visited, Friendly staff, clean staterooms, always something to do

Cons:
smell on main deck (my room), people who save chairs, food

We recently sailed from Miami on the Carnival Liberty to the Caribbean. We loved all of the ports and enjoyed all of the beaches. The ship was big and very clean. If you have been on Carnival before then you know the basic set up on all of their ships are pretty much the same. We enjoyed the buffets and two awesome improvements were the added burrito bar and Guy's burgers. The main dining room food was just ok. I felt like when I ordered prime rib that it was the rejected prime rib that the steakhouse wouldn't want. The staterooms were very clean and staff were always on top of cleaning it twice a day. I have to say that for the first 3 days there was a sewage smell in our hallway on the Main (2nd) floor. Someone must have said something because by the 4th day they had washed the carpets and put fans in the hallway. we saw two shows and they were just "ok" compared to others I had seen on Carnival ships. However, I loved the adult comedians every night and especially "Cowboy Bill." They were amazing. The only problem is after each show they made us leave and get back in line so they could "clean" the place up which no guest believed. We lost our seats several times and were frustrated. My only other complaint is the fact that Carnival says there is no reserving or saving of deck chairs or they will remove it in 30 minutes. I have NEVER seen them remove an article of clothing off a chair in the 3 cruises I have been on and is frustrating when someone saves 10 chairs at 5 a.m. The sports deck on the Liberty was the best I have seen thus far which included the mini golf and basketball/volleyball court. Overall, I think that Carnival does a great job with all of their sailings and makes sure everyone has a great time and are always putting on some type of themed party or show. They are great entertainers and fun for everyone. I would recommend this cruise to anyone who wants to have fun and enjoys a good time. I wouldn't sail with any other cruise line!!!

I sailed on the Carnival Miracle May 2012 and the staff went above and beyond saying good morning and Hi every single time they saw you. On the Liberty I have to say I was disappointed that that was not the case. Often times we walked by without any communication from staff. However, they were helpful when we had questions.

It was ok, so-so by Megan t from Connecticut
Sailing date: Jan 2013

Pros:
The islands

Cons:
Entertainment and how you take tips

I do not agree with carnival on taking the tips on the second day. Tips are earned and not mandatory. I work in an industry where I work for tips so I understand how important they are. However stealing them from people is not how you should get them. Honestly it ruined our whole cruise feeling like we were robbed. A better way to do it would be to takes base pay from each cabin of about $10 a person then giving everyone the option of what they want to pay at the end.

Great first cruise on Carnival by Brian E. from Durham, NC
Sailing date: Dec 2012

Pros:
The service from the staff...and the weather was great!

Cons:
no digital photo options

Simply put, it was a fine cruise. I've sailed Royal C., Princess, and this was our first Carnival cruise. The service was nothing but exceptional for us. They made us and our daughter feel special. She liked the slide the most :) and once she saw the larger slide on the "Magic" I was told I had to pick that ship next time..haha.. We were lucky with the weather too. It was like sailing on glass for 6 days. Last day, we had a front move down from US and we had choppy water on way back to Miami so daughter was ill from that and many people must have felt the same way as getting to things was pretty easing, no lines. The embarkation/debarkation was suburb. We were shocked when we walked right up and onto the ship in the terminal since we did the check in while waiting at the airport. The food was fine, nothing special in the dining room, but this was typical on most cruises Ive been on. My daughter loved ordering her adult meal from the menu each night so that was great practice. The alternate dining was ok too, all about expectations the Wok was a favorite of our family. Activities were plentiful for daughter and us. Some people in the reviews complain about the load music by the main pool well sure, its loud but not overly loud in my opinion and the further back from the pool you were, the easier it was on the ears. I laid out and read a book with the music going plenty of times without an issue, but I got on tiers away from the pool itself. Shore excursions were good, my highlight was the Grand Caymen shore snorkel, but wife was disappointed in that the description is misleading. You dont walk in from a shore. So for a novice it might be more of a concern if they are not confident in their skills. (Also, the 5min bus ride to the location from the pier, they used every darn seat, now you might think, so whatExcept one seat was sitting on the front console with the driver and with your legs practically on the dash..my wife got this lucky seat since we were near last in line and she was quite upset. This is not SAFE..should have just run another taxi/bus.) You start off, from the shore, but the shore is a ladder down into 8 feet of water, you never touch the bottom the snorkel is focused in depth of water of about 20-30 feet. My daughter (a novice) did fine with me and the guided snorkel was excellentwonderful coral heads, fish, caves, channels, etc. but you are not at a shore to come and go at your leisure. The guides were super nice, took care of us all and the youngsters in the group. Roatan did have a island shore snorkel which is what you would expect, sand/pier, walk out, stand up, get out when you want..etc. Roatan had beautiful corals as well and very close to the surface, so you are literally in 6-15 feet of water with coral growing to within a few feet of surface. Great fan corals, sponges.. and a 50 foot drop off to snorkel around to see.. really neat. As I said earlier, the service we experienced and witnessed was just great. We commented on it often. I watched one of the lido deck dining assistants, who was also the evening dining room hostess Golden room (Alexandra was her name I believe), approach an older lady who did not ask for help, but kindly took her arm and slowly walked her back to her table. The older lady had walked up the line with another person, but that person had gone back to the table and I guess Alexandra took notice. I was so impressed I cant tell you. If I could have found a comment card or some way to easily express my observations to her boss I would have. That should be something they work on by the way. The photos they take on ship are very nice, we loved the formal photos. But.. we did not like that they did not have digital option for saving and viewing the photos. We ended up losing a stack of them because they moved and no one could find them in the slots again. I was told newer ships have digital option. We might have bought more photos if they had.

some shows (dancers and music) were okay, they were honestly just super corny and a little weird, 40-50 year old guy singing love songs with a 22 year old young woman..... that was a little weird and odd. The comedy shows were crude and pretty sketchy, we left..... a lot of unnecessary language. we weren't on the cruise to watch these shows anyway so it didn't matter to us.

First cruise trip by Jeff T from Cincinnati, OH
Sailing date: Dec 2012

Pros:
The overall quality and atmosphere of the ship

Cons:
Lame entertainment, food was not as good as I thought due to the cruise trying to make everything elegant, but instead ruining it.

Overall we had a great time. There were some pros and cons, as stated above, but the pros definitely outweighed the cons. Staff was wonderful as one would expect, and the actual boat inside and out was amazing!! The shows/entertainment/parties were very lame and cheesy. The food was ok and there was plenty of it, but the quality was no where near what I thought it was going to be. I should have guessed this due to the fact they have to feed 3500 people.

Action packed cruise! by Jon J from United States
Sailing date: Nov 2012

Pros:
Quality of food at dinner, top notch service, numerous activities, rock and roll vegas show

Cons:
Engine issues causing us to miss St. Thomas; the first two comedians; the female lead during the vegas shows

Large ship with plenty of activities to do. Great food and service. We sadly had some engine problems and had to miss a port, but carnival graciously gave everyone on board credit and worked quickly to re-plan the day's activities. They mixed up the entertainment by flying in an additional male lead for one of the shows as well as 2 additional comedians which was well worth it! Also, at dinner the wait staff and magician kept us entertained.

Guy Fiery's burger joint is awesome. The Mongolian wok wait takes too long, but is good; it probably needs some rice as an optional mix in. Sit down dinner was divine, the service was top notch and Antonio and Robin were excellent wait staff. The burrito bar was so-so. The 24 hour pizza joint was good to have. I miss having chicken fingers as an option during lunch though. The cereal crusted french toast at the comedy brunch was out of this world! Definitely don't miss the comedy brunches.

Natalie Junk had an excellent voice and helped with the karaoke and piano bar a lot. She did a great job. She should have been the female lead in the vegas style shows! The male leads did a god job and so did the dancers. The first two comedians were horrible, but the last few days 2 other ones were flown onto the ship and both of those guys were beyond hilarious. I wish I could have seen more of their shows! I would have liked to see a full on magic show. The magician was great during dinner, but on my last cruise he had a few shows of his own. The first two vegas style shows were so-so. Karl with a K did a fine job as the cruise director and the rest of the main cruise staff was fun and lively during the events.
