Fabulous Cruise by Patty M. from Ewing, NJ

Pros:

Great employees, great food, great fun!!

Cons:

The buffet lunch not enough choices

This was one of the best cruises we have ever been on, so many times throughtout the cruise we took a look outside and completely forgot that we were on a boat. it was so smooth. Out waiters at dinner time were so good. The only complaint i would have is to have a better selection at lunch time on the buffet. I like the idea to do different types everyday but there needs to be more of a variety. Will definetly recommend this cruise to everyone.

It was beautiful & easy to get around. If you had any troubles there were always people to point you in the right direction.

It was big beautiful & clean. I couldn't believe how clean it was & what it must take to keep it that way.

Dining/Food

The food was delicious & even when it was really late we could always get pizza & after 11 the grill opeend up again for hot dogs & hamburgers.

Stateroom Quality

It was really clean. I came back one day in the middle of a cleaning to find the couch turned up & thought, WOW! That is how they keep it so clean!!! :) The bed was SO comfortable. I haven't slept this good in a long time.

Ship Staff Quality

Everyone was helpful & friendly. We got extra entrees at dinner w/ no problem. I don't think one request was ever denied.

Entertainment & Activities

It was ok. The magic show was pretty lame. But the music revues were stellar. Great singer & songs! Flashy! Fun!

Children's Programs

We don't have kids but they had great activities for them & there seemed to be plenty to keep them busy. There weren't tons of kids on the ship.

The "Valor" is an Amazing Ship! by Robert M from Warren, OH

Pros:

The size makes for smoother travel in rough waters and offers roomy quarters.

Cons:

I have no cons to speak of. The entire voyage was just perfect!

The layout and quality of the decor makes the Valor a stunning vessel.

The layout makes it hard to imagine you are sharing the ride with 3,000 neighbors. No congestion or long lines with so much spread out over such a large area.

Dining/Food

No matter if we dined in the restaurants of in the many buffet lines, the food was always fresh, tasty, and plentiful!

Stateroom Quality

The stateroom offered more than enough room for luggage storage and for settling in for 8 days. We actually had drawyer and closet space to spare!

Ship Staff Quality

From cleaning staff, waiters & waitresses, hostesses, to customer service, it is obvious that everyone truly wants you to enjoy your vacation to the max.

Entertainment & Activities

The entertainment was fun to watch. We are not bingo players so it would be nice to have other options for group activities during those times.

Pros:

captain kept us out of the way of the hurricance

Cons:

i would have like to see another "Dance" bar that doesn't just play hard core gangster rap.

I didn't like that many of the shows overlapped making it impossible to attend both. More comedians less magic shows.

The layout sucked! I can't count the number of times we had to go up or down a flight of stairs and then back up again to get where we wanted to go.

Dining/Food

Food was good the service was poor. I had to wait 2 hours for a sit down breakfast service. Dinner and breakfast servers need help or training.

Awesome Vacation! by A Traveler from Miami, FL

Pros:

Friendly staff, great weather, lots of activities!

Cons:

The photographers were annoying.

The cruise was great. The staff was friendly and helpful always. The drinks were delicious.

I got to eat steak at the dining room, frog legs, avocado soup, and others. The food was amazing at every single buffet and dining room. Be sure to try the belgian waffle with stewed banana for breakfast in the dining room (it's like a carameled syrup banana with waffles).

Stateroom Quality

The interior room was small, but of course it was expected. I loved the awesome towel animals, and the attention to detail that the housekeeping staff had.

Ship Staff Quality

You'll probably meet Felipe, the cruise director. He is on every channel, on every deck, at every show, and if you love him that'll be great for you. I'll have to admit that he was a tad annoying. Everyone else that did the trivias and karaoke and other events were awesome folks. Things were organized and exactly on time, which was great when trying to do many things in one night.

Entertainment & Activities

The shows were relevant and entertaining. The comedy shows were awesome, my favorites were A.J. and Al Romero. Hilarious guys.

A Dissapointing Getaway by NanG from NewJersey

Pros:

Our balcony room was great, especially listening to the water at night.

Cons:

Our unenthusiastic waiter contributed to our poor dining experiences.

We like cruising and have been on several Carnival Cruises. Unfortunately this cruise was a dissapointment. I suppoose the economy is even having an effect on cruiselines. Captains cocktail party is now a$1.00 off drinks. Asking for a large table in diningroom to meet others became tables of 4 wherein 1 couple per each table.When moved 1 seat over to join couple to our right(they too wanted to sit at a large table) we were scolded. Dining staff not very accomodating. Also ports of call were a disappointment. Ship ported in Montego Bay Jamaica and excursions were in Ochos rios - 1 1/2 hours away, leaving us little time at port.

Ship was kept clean, although a woman we met who used a wheelchair said there wasn't alot of things for her to do; even the bingo she couldn't get cards because they didn't come around in the lounge, you had to go to them.

Dining/Food

Dining room food was below average and wait staff was unaccomodating. The way the diningroom was designed when the waiters did their routines it was done in the center which is blocked off to view.

Stateroom Quality

Enjoyed our first balcony room and our stateroom attendants was the only friendly staff we encountered.

Ship Staff Quality

No one stood out or went above and beyond.

Entertainment & Activities

The karoake entertainment was alot of fun. Options at night were limited.

The overall layout of the ship was impressive.

After a few days, we were comfortable with manuvering around and did not get too lost. Love the amenities of the gym. Would definitely cruise again.

Dining/Food

I liked the convenience of open dining. We were not always hungry at the typical dinner hour. The a la carte dining was on point!

Stateroom Quality

Perfect!

Ship Staff Quality

Our steward was always helpful, friendly and polite. He made I trip much more pleasurable. I looked forward to my towel animals each night.

Entertainment & Activities

Always something to do. Never a dull moment (unless you wanted it that way).

Pros:

The food, events on the ship, excursions, the room, everything!

Cons:

The cost of the booze on the ship - which was expected

This was my first cruise and I really enjoyed our trip. I thought there were plenty of activites, the staff was very nice and helpful, and the food was much better than I was expecting. I would definitely cruise with Carnival again. We also wne on our cruise in September and were concerned about hurricanes/storms, but has no issues at all. In fact, since it is considering their "off-season" there were less people at port and on the excursions, which was very nice!

I was amazed at how often I saw people cleaning the ship. All restrooms in the public areas were always very clean as well.

Dining/Food

There was always somewhere to eat and the food exceeding my expectations. We especially enjoyed the sushi bar which was a great "snack" between lunch and dinner.

Stateroom Quality

We had a suite, so my rating is based off of that. But the suite was very spacious.

Ship Staff Quality

Everyone was very happy and friendly.

Entertainment & Activities

loved getting the nightly newsletter that would tell the next days activities. It was great to be able to see what was going on and to plan out activities for the next day.

My rooom

The ship was amazing. The staff...and I mean all of the staff...even people you just don't even expect to acknowledge you are sweet and wonderful. The food was great, the entertainment was great. It was clean. I loved it all. The only thing that sucked, and obviously its a little my fault for getting such a cheap room, but I had the last room on the bottom floor. It was far too close to an engine room or something. It was loud, you could always hear the motor going. When we docked it was banging around. I had to sleep with a towel wrapped around my head to fall asleep every night. There was no sleeping through docking. And then the last day at sea and the ride home, the captain kicked it up to like 21 knots, everything in the room was slamming. The closet, the safe, the hangers. I mean...whatever the rest of the cruise was amazing, but I slept awful, and the air conditioning sucked...badly. ahah But everything else more than made up for it.

6 day cruise turned into a 4 day cruise due to a hurricane that passed the day before. The 2 beauitful ports we were supposed to stop in were cancelled & we stopped in Mexico & Honduras instead.I realize the cruise line cannot control the weather conditions but they handled the whole situation very poorly. Carnival left passengers in the dark & were completely disorganized. They made us wait at the airport for 6 hours & then buses came & they herded us like cattle to a convention center for another 8 hrs (6,000 people). They never even told us we were not going to the port when the buses came. Halfway there, the driver told us. They would give us a time & when the time came, they would push it back a few more hours. The food was just okay, we couldnt get into the nice (pay) restaurant bc there was always a waiting list. They offered room service but didn't provide us with a menu until the last day. This was our first cruise so anytime we needed help the majority of staff did not understand English. Long lines. Our a/c in room hardly worked. I just wish we would've cancelled. We had 2 good days.

The room was nice. The a/c was not adequate, could not sleep at night with the blanket on.

Most of the staff did not speak English & you had to wait in a very long line at the help desk.

Entertainment & Activities

Offered a magic show & when we showed up it was changed to a comic act.
