Pros:
Nice library.
Bad service makes for an unpleasant week. I would not recommend this cruise.

Enjoyable. The lava flows were beautiful to watch.
Kailua-Kona, Hawaii
Kauii is beautiful. The shore excursion was disappointing.
Kahului, Maui
Maui was lovely when the sun shined. The first day we made our own plans and enjoyed the day. The second day was a shore excursion which we did not enjoy partly due to bad weather and partly to misinformation received about it.
Don't Miss:
Snorkeling at Molikini crater was great.

Lots of exercise and laughter.
by A Traveler from Grand Rapids, MI
Sailing date:
Mar 2006
Pros:
We enjoyed the freestyle dining. The food was not so over the top that all you did was eat. We also enjoyed a lot of outside activity.
Many of our shore excursions were cancelled due to much rain and flooding during our trip. Still we found plenty to do with shuffleboard, hot tubs, saunas, walking and exploring the ship, and craft activities during the day. We had two wonderful snorkeling outings, saw whales and an erupting volcano. What more could I ask for?
Ship Details:
Entertainment & Activities
Activities: Very friendly and helpful. Entertainment: There was a lot of talent on board and we enjoyed seeing the people we met working on stage.

Not customer service driven!!!
by Carrie from Colorado Springs, CO
Sailing date:
Mar 2007
Pros:
Where they go in 7 days.
This cruise line has a great itenerary but the staff on board are not very helpful and seem to be more concerned about finishing their jobs so they can get off the ship, instead of making sure your family vacation is enjoyable. I was very dissatisfied with the overall dedication of almost all of the staff members, even the higher ranking managers.

Great itinerary and good excursion offer
by A Traveler from Las Vegas, NV
Sailing date:
Aug 2006
Pros:
The Pride of America theme was well-done throughout the ship - very colorful and creative. The Hawaiian culture representative was knowledgable and fun.
Hawai'i is wonderful! But this particular cruise was not as enjoyable as I'd hoped, based on my other cruise experiences. The itinerary, the cruise dates, and the excursions were all wonderful and very enjoyable. But our overall cruise experience was fraught with inconvenience and downright incompetence. Not to say that all the staff was horrid or the entire cruise was lost. We did have certain staff members who stepped up and did their best to turn our experience around - and thanks to them, it did. But 1/2-way through the cruise... We had particular difficulty with the front desk and with housekeeping. Our room was not clean when we boarded (we didn't go to our room until the 'all clear' was sounded for our floor); we had difficulty getting the room cleaned until we - along with the other cabins being serviced by the same steward - complained. Then we received an excellent, kind, very capable cabin steward who cheerfully and efficiently cleaned our cabin and made us feel welcome. As for the food... we did have a great time in most of the specialty restaurants. The upgraded 'cover' prices were reasonable, the service impeccable, and the food quality, quantity, and taste were EXCELLENT. We took the advice of other travelers and made our reservations immediately upon boarding, so we had no trouble getting in. The main dining rooms were wonderful for breakfast; but for dinner, we had difficulty getting our party of 2 seated in less than 45 minutes after arriving. The servers got the orders wrong, food arrived cold, and basically, the experience wasn't good. The buffet and 24-hour diner were hit-and-miss. But mostly, the food was tasty and the service was friendly. We met several people on this cruise who mentioned - without solicitation - that they were quite disappointed with their experience. They, too, had much better experiences on other cruise lines. We all agreed that Hawai'i and the excursions were wonderful; but the ship and its crew should pay more attention to their guests. I don't plan on taking another Norwegian cruise any time soon.

Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment: Shows and entertainment were very amature and not all that enjoyable. The only 'fun' was the daily time with the Hawaiian cultural rep - crafts.
