mixed reviews from a first time cruiser
by Keith M. from brooklyn, NY
Sailing date:

Pros:
had a great time with my family, and a select few of the staff were amazing!
Cons:
my first day, i found DIRTY UNDERWEAR in my room!!! (and thats not all)
first of all, let me say, overall, i had a great time, but, i think that had more to do with me and my family being together, and exploring new islands, and it had very little to do with the ship and its crew. my first impression was, walking into my room with my bags, opening all of the drawers to see the kind of room i had for my things, and i found ******A DIRTY PAIR OF WOMENS UNDERWEAR***** ... wow, are you kidding my, how do you miss something like that? i didnt get too upset at the time, things happen... stuff gets overlooked, and i understand.. what really upset me, is that it took 4 days for someone to call me, and there solution, was to credit me 14.00 $ i laughed. the 14$ was based on a percentage of my first days stay in the room... i dont know where they came up with this number... but either way, its funny! On a bright housekeeping note, they did a great job for the rest of my stay. my wife and daughter had a separate room (i snore) and the housekeeper, supapon (Sue) was amazing, my daughter spit up two nights in a row on the bed,and sue couldnt have been cooler about it, she hopped right out of bed and changed our sheets! thats not the only thing she did that was above and beyond her job description, but to be short, she was great! now, lets get to the casino....im gonna keep this very short they were awful, they messed up time and again, they would often "forget" to pay out people in roulette, im not going to get into every little thing they did wrong, but if i described everything, you would be disgusted!

Puerto Rico is a fun place to visit. Very historical. Really nice time.

A little old world coffee shop called La bombonera. I think thats how it spelled. Its in old San Juan.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
St. Thomas is beautiful. Laid on the beach all day.....excellent. Water was spectacular.
Tortola, British Virgin Islands
Tortola was nice, but expected more. Not much to see in the town. Island should be kept a little nicer. It was different but kinda nice. Weather was great.

Excellent cruise!!!

Pros:
Food, staff, itinerary, service
Cons:
Ship decor
Read many reviews and was expecting an average cruise but ended up being pleasantly surprised. Sailed in many NCL's before and heard that Carnival was a step below, but was definitely not the case. Food was excellent in the dining room, and although breakfasts could have been better, everything else was great. Went to the steakhouse one night and it was an incredible experience for a cruise ship. Great appetizers and main course selection and an array of vintage wines to choose to Compliment the luscious steaks. In terns of itinerary my wife and I enjoyed St Thomas the most, as it it truly heaven on earth, but did not find much to do inPuerto Rico. Turks and Caicos was also a gorgeous stop and we did the Catamaran snorkeling there. While the snorkeling itself is not great at all, the Catamaran ride, private beach after and all you can drink made up for it. On the way back we went to 2 shows and they were excellent! Also, the lie music every night at Franky and Johnnnies is not to be missed. The swimming pools do get overcrowded so we spent a lot of our time at the serenity adults only pool which is a great feature on this ship. Overall, extremely happy with our vcation. Forgot to mention, we had an extended balcony room which wad excellent in size and was cleaned timely everyday by extremely attentive staff who greeted us by our names every day!

Pros:
Food
Cons:
We didn't dock in Turks due to the wind and was only credited for the port tax.
The ship was clean and well kept. The staff was great and so was the food. I'm upset that we didn't stop in Turks and there was only compensation for the port tax which was $21. I think that Carnival should have made other arrangements, such as arriving earlier at another port so that we could still had a day off the ship. The staff said that there has been previous times when the ship didn't stop at Turks due to the same wind problems. Given that info i think Carnival should do something better for their customers than a $21 tax credit.

First and Last time with Carnival
by Shen W. from New York, NY
Sailing date:
Sep 2010
Pros:
The very friendly and hardworking waiters and room service personnel
Cons:
Guest services
We will not be going on Carnival again, this was our first and last cruise and the Guest Services were beyond disgusting. My wife could not board on NY after being told by numerous Carnival agents that she had all the required documentation and then finding out she didn't. We requested something extra to be done for her after she spent over $800 flying out to the first port and was flatly refused - "You should read the contract and fine print." Would a cupcake and a little singing have been to difficult for them? Then on Half Moon Cay, the beach area had jagged rocks not covered by sand. Several people including myself tripped and scrapped my arms and knees on the rocks. After going back to the ship, I notified Guest Services and they stated I had to pay $2.19 for some band-aids. POOR SERVICE - CHEAP!

Average island with a dozen stores and very overpriced items.
Half Moon Cay, Bahamas (Cruiseline Private Island)
Beach area is filled with dangerous rocks and eventually some people will start suing Carnival for the lack of safety.
Nassau, Bahamas
We arrived on Sunday so 60% of the stores were closed. Another poor planning by Carnival.
