Good, but some disappointments by
A Traveler from Virginia Beach, VA Sailing date: May 2012Pros: Food Cons: Entertainment - Lot of the same as last time The Glory is still a nice ship. It's large and still impressive, although starting to show some signs of wear here and there.
As with all Carnival ships, they cram a lot of people on board giving the cruise a more crowded feel and resulting in some time waiting in lines here and there. It's also loud A LOT with blaring music almost all over the ship. It's difficult to get away from the noise and find a tranquil place to relax outside of your cabin. This, for me, is one of the biggest cons to the Carnival ships. That said, they are the "FUN" ships and are known for being more party oriented, so this is to be expected to an extent. I just think that my husband (49) and I (38) are starting to outgrow the Carnival line a little bit as some peace and quiet now and again are becoming more of a desire for us. Hearing the news blaring on the big screen TV up on the Lido deck during morning breakfast is not something I desire either. Getting away from all, to include not having to listen to all of the woes in the world, is part of the reason I vacation, but that might be something others would enjoy. Ship QualityQuality is good, but it is getting older. I like the layout of the ship and it's pretty easy to get around, except for the deck with the Golden Restaurant. They've got that one so it takes up the whole width of the ship, so you've got to go up or down a level or two to make your way across the ship.
The keep it pretty clean overall and, unlike the last time I was on this ship, they did a better job of ensuring tables up on the lido deck were cleared faster.
All the public restrooms were clean barring one off the back adult only deck that goes to the Red Sail Restaurant. Looks like the toilets are in need of serious scouring or replacement in that restroom.
Overall decor is just okay for me. Dining/FoodBest in the main dining halls, of course. Carnival's selection is good and the food is very good as well. Try the Chocolate Melting Cake for dessert in the main dining hall. The Red Sail Restaurant offers buffets for all meals and there's quite a lot to choose from. The lines, especially while in port when they close down at least 2 of the buffets, are annoying though. I've often thought they could split up the buffets a little bit more so that you don't have to wait in a long, slow moving line for one or two items. Having to specifically ask for something like bacon is a little irritating and holds up the lines as well. They offer pizza any time at one of the other locations on the ship, which is a definite plus. Not the best, but it hits the spot. They also have several ice cream/frozen yogurt machines on the Lido deck, which is a nice plus. Room svc arrived in 15 min vs the 45 it took last cruise. Although, it does seem that their room svc menu is more limited than it was years ago. Stateroom QualityWe were in an interior cabin, which is what I usually choose on ships since I don't spend much time in the room anyway. Most Carnival cabins are small and this was no different, but they meet my needs. I was happy the drain in my shower was working better this trip than the last. The stewards were great and who doesn't love the towel animals they leave for you? Ship Staff QualityService good. Waiters and waitresses in the dining halls use your name whenever possible when they speak with you. It's plain to see that the staff work their butts off as is typical of most ships. It was also nice to see that they did a better job of keeping the tables clear this time around, most especially up on the Lido deck. Entertainment & ActivitiesThis is where the word "disappointment" comes in within my title. I've been on the Glory several times now, the last of which was back in Oct 2010. On this cruise (May 2012) a year and half later, the big show entertainment on the ship was still the same. When I say "big shows," I'm referring to those in the main theater. After a year and a half, you'd think they'd have new material. I'm sure I'm not the only one who might cruise once a year or once every couple of years, so I'm sure I'm not the only one that would want some different shows. They did change the entertainment in the atrium and the piano bar, however. Unfortunately though, neither was as good as the entertainers that were in the atrium and piano bar the last time we were on the ship. Hence, some added disappointment. 4 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

  Outstanding service, great cruise! by
David T. from Bartow, FL Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: The very friendly and helpful staff. Cons: Debarkation, it took a long time to get off the ship. Very nice, big, and very clean. Ship QualityThere is always someone cleaning the ship in many areas throughout the day. Dining/FoodThe main dinning was always great, our Headwaiter Sedrick was phenomenal! Always made us smile, and very impressed how they treat you! The other meals were very good too, we had an opportunity to visit most of the others and we have nothing to complain about the food. Stateroom QualityWe had an interior room, next time it will be a balcony, but we liked our room and the service. It seemed like everytime we left the room, we came back and it had been cleaned and serviced! Ship Staff QualityCan not say enough about how impressed we were with the staff. From the cruise director Trevor down to the guys cleanning the deck all the time. Everyone said hello when we walked by and asked how we were doing. Very friendly staff, Carnival does a great job of finding nice people to work on the ship! Entertainment & ActivitiesWe enjoyed every show we went to, and we went to several shows. This was our first cruise, so we can't compare it to others, but we loved them. Great comedians, outstanding dancing, and many other funny shows! 7 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

Great Itinerary but Food Subpar by
Don L. from Los Angeles, CA Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: Value, Itinerary, Entertainment Cons: Subpar Friendliness, Overly crowded, Below Average Dining My wife and I had a great time but the food was below average in that it was dry, cold, and tasted like leftovers. Excursions were great and entertainment was extremely fun. Some employees were not very friendly and looked tired and bored most of the time. Ship Quality

  Our Glory Cruise by
Tracy G from Minneapolis, MN Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: Shows Cons: Not being able to get in the pools We sailed with Carnival for the first time and have cruised before on Norweigan. We kept comparing them to each other. We like the overall Ship on Carnival better, the size was great, the shows were great, the buffets for breakfast and lunch were ok. The main dinner was much better on Norweigan, we did no have the friendliest waiter, the food was not that great, we chose to eat buffet the last evening meal so we did not have to deal with the wait staff in the main dining room. We wished we had been able to stop in Belize instead of Costa Maya which was kind of boring, Cozumel was ok, Grand Cayman was good and Mahogney Bay was the best and we would go back there. The staff was overall friendly, but felt they could have been a little more friendly. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe main dining room food could have been better Stateroom Quality

  Pleasant time by
Mary D from Western MA Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: Having a balcony room Cons: All the mix ups It was a nice middle of the road ship. Small pools. Disappointing promenade shops. Very clean. Ship QualityIt was a nice ship. Library small. Layout ok. Could only get from back to front (public areas) on promenade deck. Missed a walk around outside of ship. Dining/FoodAverage quality food. Meat tended to be dry, veggies overlooked and desserts very bland. Enjoyed the fresh fruits. Dining areas very noisy. Stateroom QualityVery nice. Excellent linens. Ship Staff QualityWait staff and room stewards were superb. Customer service and shore excursion staff not nearly as friendly or helpful. Very curt- had to push for help. We were supposed to have a crib- didn't arrive until 7p. Baby had to nap on bed. Felt like I was a nuisance the few times I had to deal with them Entertainment & ActivitiesShows were a disappointment-underehearsed. Magician was laughable. Any activity was way too loud. Left each night with a headache. Couldn't carry on a conversation when band was playing on lido deck. Children's ProgramsNot available for toddlers. There were a lot of them on board. We couldn't use the pools and there was no designated play area for them-yet we were charged almost full price for the privilege of having them with us. Poor little guy had no place to stretch and play. We took to going to a lounge and making our own play area 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Cheap, but good by
A Traveler from Seattle, WA Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: price, ports of call Cons: photograghers Big beautiful ship with typical Carnival decor and quality. The food was way better than our last Carnival cruise. A very nice surprise. I wish the shows were more classy and less raunchy. There was a lot of options for activities, but the cruise staff was not very friendly. Our cabin was great with the exception of the hard bed. The steward was terrific. Love those towel animals! Shore excursions were good, but expensive. Ship Quality

  Great Cruise! by
Jackie P. from Long Island Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: The Ports of Call ! Nassau, St. Thomas, San Juan, Grand Turk! Cons: There could have been a few more places to eat. There was never a lack of things to do! I've been on many Carnival ships and I always go back! There could have been a few more places to eat but still the food was so great! The staff was amazing, as usual. I have loved every Carnival cruise I've ever been on and this just added to my list of 7 cruises! Ship QualityI felt the ship was always clean! They did a great job of keeping it very nice the whole cruise! Dining/FoodFood was delicious! But there were only a few places to eat. Stateroom QualityRoom was cleaned twice a day and it was perfect! Ship Staff QualityLove the staff! The steward remembered our names the first day and always said Hi to us! Entertainment & ActivitiesA show every night! Funny comedians and pretty cool magicians! 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Very enjoyable cruise by
Jeff T from Port St Lucie, FL Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: Good food in dining room, good variety on board. Cons: Tender into Belize City was long. The ship was excellent, variety shows are typical cruise quality, good for the senior set, but would never make it ion shore. Comedy shows were atanding room only. We booked two excursions, the dolphin encounter in Cozumel ($101.00) was worth every penny, but the photo CD, 72 pictures cost $110.00. We booded the South Shore Adventure Zip Line and it was great, 13 zip lines, and a great guide who took us into town on the way back for some "away from the pier" shopping.
We had a balcony room which was roomy and had a bigger than usual bathroom. Only drawback was that the beds were a little too firm.
Ship is clean and the staff is very friendly. Ship QualityWe ususally book a Carnival ship and this one was a food experience. Dining/FoodFood was good with a large bariety on board. The 24 hour pizza was good and offered calzones, with about an 8 minute wait. I would recommend the "anytiime dining" since eating at the same time every night did not work out, Don't be afraid to order as much as you can eat. Stateroom QualityLarge balcony room had pleanty of storage and a roomy bathroom. Big enough shower to wash your feet without being crtowded. Ship Staff QualityStaff was friendly and courteous, I recommend pre paying the tips. Entertainment & ActivitiesVariety shows were second rate at best. The comedians had standing room only and the lounge music was very good and very diversified. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Does not Compare to RCL by
Jason Rodriguez from United States Sailing date: Nov 2011Pros: Getting off the ship (Shore excursions through Carnival were good though) Cons: Lack Luster to little on board entertainment Our Balcony aft room 8455 was awesome. Great balcony which wraps around which was the same cost as other adjacent aft balconies. You can hear all the chairs being moved on Lido deck 9 which wasn't too bad if your from NYC like us but if you like it nice and quiet choose deck 7. Food was okay, nothing spectacular. Service was spotty with a light crew. Entertainment on the ship consisted of mostly the cruise patrons, the ship had two decent shows, small stage though. Ship QualityWater in the shower went from Hot to Cold to luke warm from the 2nd day to almost the last day. Found this quite peculiar. Also my shower head was missing one day. They were doing maintenance on the ship while we were ON BOARD. They took off the base molding and replaced it the following day. Felt like they were preparing for the next cruise and didn't really care what we thought anymore since our cruise was almost done. Certain items like the Mechanical Equipment rooms weren't covered up, not so much a big issue but these are items that you would like to keep hidden for aesthetic reasons. Dining/FoodI didn't expect anything too spectacular from the buffet but the dinning room was one of the biggest let down. Many days i just had a Cesar salad and a cappuccino, some nights i avoided the dinning room all together. Trust me i am 300lbs and know a thing or two about food and i had NO appetite. Stateroom QualityThe room staff was awesome! Tip well! Ship Staff QualityLight bartenders at every station, some avoided you all together and when you did get service they barely smiled. Entertainment & ActivitiesLack luster. Was mostly self entertainment. When they did put together a package it involved you paying something in order to win or to get involved. 4 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

not what a cruise should be by
Jeff S from Deltaville Va Sailing date: Nov 2011Pros: nice room Cons: dining, signs to tell where to go for anything. the rooms are nice. that's about the best thing I can say about the Carnival Glory. The ship rocked constantly and it wasn't that rough. impossible to find your way around without a map. no signs to tell where anything is. dining was pitiful. buffet was OK but would close at odd times with only a pizza station staying open. would not recommend Carnival!! Ship Quality
Dining/Foodfood is mediocre at best. don't try anytime dining! It's anytime a table becomes available. we were told at one seating that we would have to wait 20 minutes to get a pager that would then let us know when a table was available. Stateroom Quality
