The ship is a great ship and has great features but food is nasty.
Every thing was great except the food. Not enough shore time. One stop would have been better.

Not bad....
by A Traveler from atlanta
Sailing date:
Jul 2009
Pros:
Food better than expected.
Cons:
Small pool, evening entertainment
Food I'd give a solid B- or B. That's pretty good coming from me. I'm pretty picky. The dining room service was OK. just OK. We brought wine in most nights but when we didn't, they didn't ask for a drink order. One night we ordered a baked potato and didn't even know they had a guy running around with toppings (sour cream, bacon...) until the next night. We never saw him when we ordered one. Evening entertainment was kind of bad. 1 night peaked in and it was like a revival in the woods. One of the comedians was pretty funny (kenny ??? I think). The other nights were high school caliber. sorry guys. The biggest disappointment was the pool. one small pool for 2000+ people. forget "swimming". just find a spot and stand there. there were 2 hot tubs but they were filled with 10yr olds. nice and relaxing, right? there may have been another hot tub somewhere, but I didn't see one. kids liked the water slides, camp carnival was pretty good (although closed for meals a lot) and the ship itself was pretty clean.

Simply a blast
by Tim S from ATL
Sailing date:
Mar 2009
Pros:
Service was great, boat was nice
Cons:
Out of 2000 guests, 1000 kids 10 yrs and younger.
Overall a great time. The ship was large, fast elevators for the older/lazy guests. Food was good, like any other cruise. The service was good, although most of the bartenders seemed pissed off everyday. The huge amount of children getting a new soda every 5 minutes may have played a role in that. It seemed like the final night of the cruise that the staff stopped caring. Not refilling the juice or ice after asking several times, our room wasting cleaned or towels refreshed the final day at sea. The drinks weren't overly expensive, but still weren't economical. It seemed like there were staff photographers at every corner, wanting you to buy the pictures they shot. I would like to go on this ship again, and recommend it.

Playa Mia. $40 ticket gives you all you can drink from 10-6 pm. A really fun time, food is available, contests, nice pool, ocean has a trampoline and giant iceberg. The ice berg was a pretty far swim. By the time I got out there, it was very hard to climb up it. Make sure to barter anytime you are buying something, especially cab rides or souvenirs
George Town, Grand Cayman
Margaritaville was fun. They give out free tequila hosts every hour, the DJ leads dancing contests, best beer chugger contests, a fun time!

Carnival Inspiration - Oct 2008
by A Traveler from Howell, MI
Sailing date:
Oct 2008
Pros:
Ports & Friendliness of Staf
Cons:
Food
Overall I was disappointed in the Carnival Inspiration. The ship itself is kept rather clean, and our stateroom was quite accomodating, but the ammenties on the boat itself were lacking as was the food.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The public areas were usually very clean, decor was outdated, the layout was for the most part accomodating
Dining/Food
Here is what really did the trip in for me. I like to cook, by no means am I a pro or anything, but I enjoy good food, non greasy, fresh produce, variety etc. Especially when it's all paid for in advance. That is the big perk of a cruise right? The food? Not in this case. Breakfast on the Lido deck was always the same fare. Good enough to start your day with but lacking in variety. Room service was disappointing. We ordered breakfast (coffee and toast) 3x and it only arrived 2x. Dinner was ok through room service, the menu was actually pretty good for that...FOrmal dining, or sit down service rather then buffet was not all that great. Occasionally a good piece of meat, but for the most part too greasy, lacked flavor and appeal and overall very disappointing. And the pizza everyone raved about so much - overrated. Sorry, but THAT is not GREAT pizza. Pizza yes, great pizza, no. The one thing that stands out was the chocolate melting cake that was quite good.
Stateroom Quality
THe steward did a very good job of keeping the towels fresh, linens clean and neat, areas straightened up and tidy.
Ship Staff Quality
I wouldn't rate the staff excellent, but they were better then good. Our servers for dinner, Rinda and Nyoman were very friendly and made our less then stellar dinners fun. The bartenders and other servers were for the most part pleasant and did a nice job providing prompt service.
Entertainment & Activities
There were lots of scheduled activities but I think they were geared more toward an older or younger crowd. Meaning 50+ or 13 and under...

Here we had a lot more time which gave us a chance to really enjoy the port. We went to Chankanaab and swam with the Dolphins - very fun! THen we enjoyed the beaches of the park and had a wonderful lunch on the beach. After we spent some more time just enjoying the beach and quiet of the area, we went downtown to Senor Frog's for a quick cocktail before some shopping. Typical Frog's ambiance. Fun, upbeat, lots of young overly served people. Shopping was good. Vendors not overly pushy. THen we hit another Margaritaville to kill some time before boarding the boat. It was quite windy that day so snorkeling on that side of the island was out, but something I would try if we go back there for sure.

George Town, Grand Cayman
This was an awesome beach. We unfortunately did not get to spend as much time there as we would have liked b/c the tendering to shore took over 1.5 hrs just to get off the boat. That caused us to lose a lot of tim that we should have been able to be on the island enjoying it. We hit Margaritaville immediately after the tender and had a drink, the bartender was helpful and told us of a place to go enjoy the beach which is all we had time for. Too little time there with a very inefficient tendering process took away from this goregous place.

A great trip
by A Traveler from North Jersey
Sailing date:
Mar 2009
Pros:
Entertainment, ease of planning, food
Cons:
Spring Breakers
As a first time cruiser, I was pleasently surprise with how long my trip felt. Not having to take time to plan activities or travel from place to place saves tons of time. Additionally, if you get bored with what you're doing, you can just go do something else without feeling like you wasted time or money. Entertainment, food, etc -- everything was above my expectations.

Shopping is better here than at Grand Cayman if you're not looking to spend thousands. The jungle ATV tour was well wroth the money. Very very bumpy though.
George Town, Grand Cayman
Do the shore snorkel. I give you a home base with a come and go as you please feel. Great reef too if you're a decent swimmer.

Watch for Auctions!
by Jennifer from Orlando, FL
Sailing date:
Mar 2007
Pros:
The food service at dinner.
Overall, it was a memorable experience and I can't wait to go again-- BUT, I seriously regret getting swindled into an art purchase at one of the auctions. I had bought some smaller pieces and expressed interest in one particular "Master Artist" painting. They approached me later and told me they'd take $500 off if I purchased it now. I was told it was only one of 24 in the world and was worth about $6200. I paid half that and thought it was a great deal. When I got home (and could look up the real info), it was one of 6000 and worth about $400. That is my only regret. There's no recourse with the auctions, either, because they do not guarantee their appraisals are the same as others and you cannot return items. Just be wary of what you buy when you can't authenticate it with anyone other than the seller.
Ship Details:
Entertainment & Activities
Activities: We got bored after the first day. It was cloudy, so you couldn't really go outside. And we expected a real pool. The two on board were more like large hot tubs-- seriously. The trivia was not conventional trivia and the people next to us kept talking about the answers out loud. Bingo was kind of fun, but really expensive ($10/card). Entertainment: I love karaoke, but it filled up fast the first night. The guys next to us were completely drunk and obnoxious-- spilling glass all over the floor. It was hardly entertainment, and you can't really blame the cruise, but they should have been escorted out just for safety.

Swim at beach at Tulum Ruins! As soon as you step off the ship, you could be at any local strip mall in America. It's just row upon row of shops set up for tourists. There were no deals that were any greater than I could get at an outlet mall in Orlando and consequently, I didn't buy anything on shore. It was nice to see Cozumel, but the boat ride over to Playa de Carma for our excursion to the Tulum Ruins was much prettier. And the beach at the ruins that you can swim in or lay on was absolutely stunning!
Don't Miss:
The beaches at the Tulum Ruins.

First and Last cruise
by Chris S. from Tulsa, Ok
Sailing date:
Dec 2010
Pros:
Cozumel was awesome
Cons:
Food onboard was terrible, ship was delayed a day, no refunds for 2 weeks
The cruise that my wife and I booked was supposed to leave from Tsmpa @ 4:00p.m. on the 13th of December; high seas prevented the boat from gettting under a bridge to get to port. This is completetly understandable as obviously the weather can't be controlled. My wife and I drove from Oklahoma to Tampa and budgeted for a 2 night hotel stay then on the boat monday. Carnival would'nt reimburse for the additional hotel stay and would'nt apply credit to this cruise (other than a measley 15$ per person for meal credit). Instead the credit would be pro-rated and applied to a future cruise with carnival plus 20% off. What are we supposed to do with that? Food was fast food quality even the one formal we attened was baked shrimp and lobster tail, but was not "to die for." We are very displeased and would'nt recommend to anyone! STAY AWAY!!

Pros:
Ship, entertainment, food (of course), service, and the crew was awesome!
Cons:
SPRING BREAKERS!!!!!!
I went on this trip with my old best friend. We were naive in thinking that the spring breakers wouldn't be vacationing so early in March. Boy oh boy were we wrong. *sigh* Everything was fabulous EXCEPT for them. They pretty much drove everyone insane from the yelling, drunken fiascos, etc. After the first day I learned where not to go, then all was peachy. :o) There was always something to do during the day, from bean bag toss to cha cha class to ice sculpting. you have to keep an open mind and try the activities - you may surprise yourself and have fun doing something you wouldnt have done in a million years. If anyone is going on the Inspiration within the next few weeks I'd love for you to do me a small favor. Just need to get an email address to a friend of mine on board! :o)
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Very clean, not too big, always someone to help you if you get lost on-board. :o)
Dining/Food
The food was great.... yes, the buffets were pretty much the same day in and day out, but if you're not picky then it's perfectly fine. The dinners and desserts were fantastic. the chocolate melting cake was ridiculously good and I had one of the best tiramisus that I've ever had... yum yum.
Stateroom Quality
Clean, small, but only one outlet. Sad.
Ship Staff Quality
Really friendly folks on board. I feel sorry for them and some of the "angels" they have to put up with day in and day out... must be tiring.
Entertainment & Activities
The love and marriage show is a must-see, as well as the comedians. And, of course, go to the regular shows as well! Highly entertaining.

Little more than basics.
by Sherry W from Ann Arbor, MI
Sailing date:
Feb 2009
Pros:
Fellow cruisers
Cons:
The food was mediocre and there were some service problems
This ship was VERY clean, but it felt small/closed-in and had a VERY confusing layout. There were maps available, but we didn't find that out until the end of day 2! If this was my first cruise and had nothing to compare, however, I would think it was fine. Dinners were good, but overall the food was no better than you could get at a mid-priced restaurant at home. There were some service issues (see below), but overall the people were VERY nice. Check out "Barry" at the piano bar--HYSTERICAL!!!!!
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Ship was VERY clean, but it felt small and the layout was VERY confusing, even for someone with a good sense of direction!
Dining/Food
Sit-down dinners were fine (especially the melting chocolate cake!), but the breakfast and lunch buffets were mediocre at best. Same choices day after day.
Stateroom Quality
What I expected.
Ship Staff Quality
Our dinner servers and room steward were great, but the service desk employees were not always helpful. Misplaced my camera and he only said, "Sorry." I had to ask him to take my room # in case it turned up, then another crew member recommended he check in the back--VOILA! There was my camera. When I tried to show him a picture of me at "formal dinner" to prove it was my camera, he said, "THAT'S YOU???" I was HIGHLY offended. Also, they were pushing the pictures and drinks WAY TOO HARD! Very overwhelming.
Entertainment & Activities
I enjoyed the evening entertainment, but didn't find anything interesting for a 40-something to do during the day, so I napped or laid on the deck.

Absolutely BEAUTIFUL! The shopping district was full of sculptures, fountains, and flowers. I went to the adventure park for zip-lines, rock climbing towers, and various other "high wire" activities, then went snorkeling. Felt a little herded, but it all culminated in free drink (I chose a margarita and it was STRONG!).
Don't Miss:
If you like a good strong drink, don't miss FAT TUESDAYS! But be warned, they are STRONG!!!
George Town, Grand Cayman
You HAVE to go to Stingray City! I booked an excursion through Captain Bryan's and they were VERY professional, helpful, educated us about the stingrays, had a smaller sailboat (catamaran) that had fewer people than the cruise excursion "cattle boats," and provided food to feed them. They took pics of us holding the stingrays and kissing them for good luck. These little creatures are GREAT and very friendly!!!! We then went to two other snorkeling sites and had plenty of time at each. The best part: it cost only $39 instead of the $69 through the ship!!!
Don't Miss:
