Mediocre at best
by Michelle Becerra from Southern CA
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
the pillows
Cons:
the food
The ship decor was very out dated and worn. Our room was good but the counter in the bathroom was dirty. The entertainment was horrible and it seemed designed to humiliate (the gameshows, contests, etc.). We enjoyed the karaoke.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Ship was small, dark, weird decor.
Dining/Food
The food was terrible. Tasteless and bland. Dry and over cooked. Not fresh ingredients. The dinners were a tad better but the lunches and breakfast was just horrible.
Stateroom Quality
the bed and pillows were nice.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff looked either totally exhausted or absolutely without personality. Something in our room was dirty and had to be removed and the steward asked if he could bring a clean one later. When later came, he asked if I still needed it or could we do without it.
Entertainment & Activities
The disco lesson was ok. We were bored as there was nothing of quality to do.

Great Starter Cruise
by Gregg H from Portland, OR
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
Always something to do
Cons:
We were seated at a table for 10 with a total of 11 people. A little crowded for dinner
The 4 of us )wife and 2 adult children had a great time!Food was excellent, drinks were good (although some were a little expensive), shore excursions were fun, especially Catalina. Our overall wish was that Catalina would have been the longer of the two lay overs and Ensenada was shorter. We spent about 4-5 hours in Ensenada and the rest of the day on the boat. Don;t get me wrong, Ensenada was fun, but there was not enough to stay busy for 13-13 hours.

Entertainment & Activities
We had early dinner seating and could not catch the family friendly comedy shows due to show times. We would have liked to see at least one.

First-time Cruise Experience
by A Traveler from Southern California
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
The extremely efficient and friendly staff
Cons:
The beds!
This was our first-ever cruise, and we were not quite sure what to expect. The ship was exactly as portrayed online, so there were no unpleasant surprises.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The layout of the ship took some getting used to, but once we did it was easy enough to maneuver around. It was pleasantly decorated and always very clean.
Dining/Food
The food in the dining room was very good, although some meal selections were better than others. The variety offered was excellent, as was the staff. I do not recommend eating breakfast in the dining room -- the food quality was merely so-so and there was not a big variety. Instead, I recommend eating breakfast at the Brasserie, especially the omelet bar -- MUCH better food, and you don't have to wait forever to get a second cup of coffee.
Stateroom Quality
I would rate the stateroom excellent, but the quality of the mattresses in our room was awful! One of the two on the twin beds pushed together to make a king was so worn out that it sagged in the middle, causing back pain. In retrospect, we should have requested another mattress, although I have no idea if any were available.
Ship Staff Quality
You could not ask for better staff. The dining room staff were amazing -- our head waiter even greeted us by name as we passed him in another area of the ship! Our cabin steward was equally wonderful, and kept our cabin clean and tidy without being the least bit obtrusive. Everyone on the ship was very helpful.
Entertainment & Activities
Most of our group enjoyed the Rhapsody in Blue piano lounge, and some also enjoyed playing the slot machines in the casino.

An ok cruise
by Cathy S from Desert Hot Springs, CA
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
efficiency of the room staff
Cons:
nothing to do most of the time on ship, geared to 20 to 30 year olds
A dark interior in the atruim so made it look smaller then it is. Crowded feeling during at sea days. Dining rooms not open at more convient times. Geared to the 20 to 30 year old crowd.

No public restrooms on every floor. While getting ready to go ashore on Deck 3 or 4, had to use a restroom on 8 first.

Will never cruise Carnival again
by Kim P from Las Vegas, NV
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
Being out on the ocean
Cons:
The uncleanliness of our room
This was the 3rd time we cruised with Carnival. Our first two trips were fine but this one was not. Upon entering our cabin, I went into the walk in closet to hang my clothes and found a hotel room key on one shelf and a pair of dirty underware on another. I contacted guest services and they sent up housekeeping to deal with the issue. The girl that came, took away the dirty underwear and stated somebody would be back to santize our room. Never happened. Later that night, I went to pull back the bedding and found hair on both of the pillows. The next day, our room stewart confronted us in the hallway and stated that since we complained to guest services about the dirty underwear, he was getting reassigned to another position because it is his responsibility to make sure housekeeping had cleaned all of the rooms. We were shocked at his unprofessionalism. He should have apologized and let it go. It is not our fault that he did not do his job. We paid alot of money for our suite and we expected it to be reasonably clean. Next cruise we take will be with NCL again. Their ships are beautiful, clean and their staff are amazing.

Minus our room steward. The rest of the staff was ok.

Cruise +, Catalia +, Baja -
by A Traveler from Los Gatos, CA
Sailing date:
Apr 2012
Pros:
The cruise staff is great and very friendly. Catalia is amaxing. If they had stayed in Catalina for 2 days the cruise would have been perfect.
Cons:
Baja Mexico is not a place to visit. Very dirty, lots of kids asking for $, and looks like a industrial city. Not a vacation destination.
Ship and Staff were excellent!

Simple and Relaxing
by Bob T. from Los Angeles, CA
Sailing date:
Apr 2012
Pros:
The stateroom; the dining was good overall
Cons:
Ship rocked often because of the smaller size
This cruise provided all the things needed to relax and enjoy a short vacation. The short distance we traveled forced us to sail slower which caused the ship to rock at times, but overall, there was plenty to do and I felt very comfortable.

just what I needed!
by Linda B from Barstow, CA
Sailing date:
Apr 2012
Pros:
ability to simply let go and not feel pressured to be somewhere, doing something, and still got to do more this time than ever before!
Cons:
not being able to take an excursion I was looking forward to experiencing: my fault for booking too late.
Very clean and well maintained. The captain and crew were very professional. At catalina the waves were starting to really rock so the captain turned the ship to fix the problem. Decorations different, from the other carnival ships I have traveled on, loved the shakespere library, room was kept beautifilly. Only thing was the amenities weren't the same as before, I forgot a razor and then was expecting to find one in cabin.
