A Traveler from Virginia Sailing date: May 2012Pros: stateroom attendee was super nice n kept room looking nice n tidy Cons: horrible food The food in the dining room was nearly the same as the windjammer buffet. The waiter was not very friendly. Steaks n prime ribs were horrible. Medium steak were super well done, thin and prime rib medium was dry n hard. Lol...Worst food ever on a cruise and we cruised many times before. They were smoking everywhere. On the deck by the pool. we couldn't spend any time on the balcony because of cigarette smell. Great Cruise by
Richard D from Portage, IN Sailing date: Feb 2012Pros: Excusions Cons: Very Expensive This was my first cruise, and have heard that every cruise is like this, but I can't believe how much money they try to get out of you. Seems like every time I turn my back they are trying to sell something. Other than that, it was a great cruise, loved the stops. Ship QualityShip was clean, had no issues. Dining/FoodFood was very good. Our table mates were very nice. Had real good conversations with them. Stateroom QualityRoom was nice. I was expecting something very small and was surprised it wasn't that small. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was very friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesMy wife was upset with the Jewerly making that there wasn't enough time to complete anything. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Not up to Royal Carribean's standards by
Eric C from Wichita Falls, TX Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: Clean room, good shows Cons: Terrible food, poor waiters, limited entertainment options This was our first time on Royal Caribbean, and might be our last. As a floating hotel, this could have been a decent cruise. Most of the service was fair to good, the room was ok, and the trip mostly went off without a hitch.
Our biggest complaints centered around the dining room: slow/inconsistent service and poor food quality brought down the rest of the experience. Food was obviously microwaved just before being served, most of the food on the buffet was lukewarm, and in both areas the food was dry, stale, overcooked, flavorless or any combination of these.
Most of the other passengers with whom we spoke were regular Royal cruisers, and were telling us how this boat fell far short of Royal's usual standard of quality, but we can only take their words for it at this point. We left more detailed reviews below. Ship QualitySeemed very large. The ship smelled musty when we first boarded, including our stateroom. The decor was appealing, and the common areas were kept clean. Not all elevators or stairs went to every floor, so going up and down floors could be confusing; go up two flights, then go to the other side of the ship to another set of stairs to continue going up, etc. Dining/FoodThe food in both the buffet and dining room had the taste and consistency of having been reheated (microwaved). Most dishes were dried-out and/or overcooked. The soups and gravy were made from powder mixes. Each passenger was assigned a specific table and seating time for dinner (which we did not mind), but during breakfast and lunch you would always be seated at a large table with other random diners. While we enjoyed most of our conversations with these other people, we would have preferred to have been seated privately at least once in awhile. The Jade Restaurant is not a separate dining room, as advertised, but a six foot section of the regular buffet that just served a few different kinds of fried rice. Regular buffet consisted of only three stations: small salad bar, burger/hot dog station, and carvery. Very little of the food tasted good, though you were allowed to order as much as you wanted. The best meal that we had during the whole trip was at a little snack shop in Jamaic Stateroom QualityRoom size and decor met our expectations. Room was cleaned and serviced twice daily, so we always had fresh towels and ice. Bed and couch were decent. Balcony door lock was damaged by a previous passenger, but stayed closed. Transparent dividers between balconies limited privacy. Ship Staff QualityStateroom attendants provided excellent, personalized service. Dining room staff were slow and disorganized; often could not get refills on drinks for half or more of the meal service. Customer service and shore excursions staff were friendly and helpful. Entertainment & ActivitiesSpecial shows were great, but infrequent; ice dancing, juggler, singers, etc, usually only had one show per day. Most of the regularly scheduled activities on board seemed to consist of just alcohol, gambling and sales pitches. More than half of video arcade games were broken. Sports facilities (basketball court, mini-golf, rock wall, etc) were in decent shape. "Murder mystery" night at the Portofino restaurant was fun, if expensive (it's also four hours long; 7-11pm). 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Cruise exceeded our highest expectations by
Bill H from Shady Shores, TX Sailing date: Jul 2011Pros: outstanding & genuinely friendly staff Cons: ended all too soon The ship was spotless any where we went. the entertainment was varied, excellent, and fun. The food was first class all the way wherever you ate & our room was quiet and comfy. Ship Qualitytakes a while to get your bearings but before long it's like an old friiend Dining/Foodtake your appetite and forget the calories...you're gonna love the presentations and varied flavors. Stateroom Qualityloved our balcony views, the bed was huge and comfortable, nice sitting area, and plenty of closet space and storeage Ship Staff Qualityyou just have to see for yourself...the service from everyone was second to none! Entertainment & Activitieswe took advantage of every venue offered and had a blast. the entrainment director deserves a raise.

Kusadasi (Ephesus), TurkeyThis was an unanticapted pleasure. The counrtyside is beautiful, the people were very nice & helpful and Ephesus is a national treasue as well as Mary's home. Whatever faith you are you will appreciate the Biblical Ephesus tour. The ruins are specatular...it's as if you can hear the vendors and chariots in the streets.
Don't Miss: Ephesus Souda (Chania), Cretethe port of Chania or Hania as they write it is simply a beautiful place to spend the afternoon or to take a boat tour. The port has a great fell to it and the market is well worth a visit to.
Don't Miss: the in town port itself & the nearby resturants Piraeus (Athens), GreeceThe port and Athens may leave a bit to be desired but once again we had a great guide and she made the Acroplois come to life for us at every turn
Don't Miss: the Acroplois of course Messina, Sicilythe drive to Mt Etna gives you the most scenic panoramas and our guide knew the history which was a real plus for us. The stop in beautiful Taormina was too short but we enjoyed every minute of it,,,,take the tour...it's a must.
Don't Miss: Taormina 5 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

  Good Times...Great People!! by
A Traveler from Ontario. Canada Sailing date: Apr 2011Pros: The staff was exceptionally friendly and helpful at all times! The food was fantastic! Cons: We needed to be more informed of the large one time events going on...such as the 12 am buffet that we just happened to stumble upon! We loved the ship...it was well layed out and clean. There were many outside decks to sit upon and lots of waite staff to take care of you at all times. We enjoyed the cafe that stayed open 24hrs and the room service that brought out coffee and first snack of the day. The selection of food and restaurant was great and we enjoyed the staff who took good care of us. Ship QualityThe ship was spotless at all times! Dining/FoodLots of variety and selection to choose from. The extra restaurants had a very nice ambiance when you were looking to escape the large crowds of people. Stateroom QualityWe loved our room but did feel that the bed placed at the first of where you walk in was not as servicable to get around as it would have been up against the window which looked out on the promenade. Otherwise lots of cupboard and drawer space....and the safe was an excellent idea. Ship Staff QualityWe felt the ship desk staff went over and above for us on a few accounts. We had an engagement and birthday which they did a few things for at no extra charge. The were friendly and very accomodating. Entertainment & ActivitiesI would have like to see more activities such as Water melon eating contest....or pool activities to complete in. I experienced some of these many years ago on a cruise which I really enjoyed.

Cozumel, MexicoWe road in the coupe cars and it was ok but never seen the sites we thought we would. We rounded the island and made a few stops. The guides were great!
George Town, Grand CaymanWe went to see the stingrays and snorkling to gaze at the underwater creatures. I dont think anything is ever a waste of time...we enjoyed our excursion but next time may just hit a beach to do some relaxing. We only ate at the dairy queen!
