That there were no comfortable chairs in the shade

Awful, Miserable, & Borderline Inhumane

Pros:
Seated dinner was good and waitstaff was wonderful
Cons:
Everything else
My husband, myself, my elderly mother, and my 18-month-old son took a seven-night cruise to the Western Carribean. We were only allowed off the ship for 10 hours in eight days. Our trip encountered a tropical storm, but, unlike the other Carnival ship, went straight through the storm instead of re-routing. I spent three days stuck in a cabin with a sick mother and baby. The lazzez faire attitude of the staff to people's suffering was appalling. Our family hadn't been on a vacation for three years, and, when I think of all the money we spent to suffer so badly, I really want to cry.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The only positive thing I will say is they did clean the cabins twice a day, which is very good thing when people are sick. Every time we took a shower, our whole bathroom flooded.
Dining/Food
The food in the dining rooms was very good, and the waitstaff in the dining rooms was exceptional.
Stateroom Quality
Our bathroom flooded every time we showered. The only positive is that the beds were comfortable.
Ship Staff Quality
The waitstaff was excellent. The staff in the infirmary and the kids' club was borderline mean.
Entertainment & Activities
It's the same thing everyday, and, after two days, we'd had enough. After eight days, we were just mad.
Children's Programs
The staff in the kids' club is awful, at least to the under two's. Don't put your babies in there without supervision.

New Orleans cruise
by Pamela S from New Roads, La
Sailing date:

Pros:
Creme Brulee and warm chocolate cake
Cons:
entertainment, warm room, horrible odor
Shows were okay. Comedians funny. Our room was very very warm. Seemed like aircondition could not put out cold air. There was this horrible rotten smell at different times and different places on the ship. Mad me gag.

Cons:
stateroom was very hot barely no airconditioning
Our stateroom was very hot. Airconditioning barely put out any cold air. Entertainment was not that great. We actually skipped the show towards the end.

Not as good as I was hoping....
by Mark W from Oklahoma, USA
Sailing date:
Jan 2011
Pros:
Debarking, Fast and Easy
Cons:
Service
It was a nice ship, with a few drawbacks. It was hard to get away from the smokers. We were hit in the face every night after dinner, there was a lounge right across the hall from the doors. We tried to avoid area's that the smokers were, it kept us out of the casino, lounges, etc. Outside decks were often closed or off limits to quests. Deck 6 and 7 have outside walkways, they were closed after dark. Decks 11,12 and 4 were closed often due to winds. The bow (very front) was off limits to quests.

Ship Quality
Size was nice, not too big not too small. But, it was still hard to get away from smokers. Very well kept and impressive look. Every day there was at least one or more Elevator not working.
Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Staff was very friendly, not always helpful. We had a hard time getting Honey. It was like nobody knew where any was. We ended up buying our own at first port.
Entertainment & Activities
We left the one and only show after 15 mins., the women were in short skirts with thongs, and at one point they got up on desks and did a striptease. Granted the show was billed as a burlesque, which it was. But the problem was that right in front of us were a group of kids from Camp Carnival. We knew this from the Carnival Employees directing them. We would not take my kids to this type of show and felt it in bad taste that Carnival does.

I was not impressed over all
by A Traveler from tx
Sailing date:
Dec 2010
Pros:
room service
Cons:
dinning
First of all the room was right above a lounge and it was so load that our whole room shook and sleeping was impossible. So at the end of the next day they moved us and said we would be compensated for the bad room but they never did it. The service in the rooms was good but to eat dinner was lines and more lines and bad wait times, they should take lessons from Norwegian Cruise Lines they have no lines for food. Most of the service was good but unless it is way cheap I wont cruise with then again. This was the 2nd time with them and I was not impressed over all.

Cruises are not for everyone!
by Roger D from San Antonio
Sailing date:
Nov 2010
Pros:
The duty free tax on the ports
Cons:
Cost on board/Jamaica
If you are looking to save money purchase a ticket because thats where it ends. Everything on the ship is overpriced, everything has a gratuity slapped on top of it. The cooking staff is rude and hardly smiles when they complete your request. If they did it they made you feel like they doing you a favor. The Jamaica port by far was the worst, i dont know why carnival travels here. You cant even walk or swim 5 feet without someone trying to sell you something, not everything legal for that matter. They should hit cancun after cozumel. There is nothing really on board for latin people besides one musical group, latin grouve they were great. Other than that i did not enjoy the experience. I will not be returning to a cruise ship anytime soon.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The servicing of the ship was pretty good, they were efficient about that.
Dining/Food
Not alot of variety, i was so happy to eat in Cozumel.
Stateroom Quality
Liked the stateroom but no real cable it was the same programming over and over again.
Ship Staff Quality
Half good and half bad, thats what happens when your out to see 6 months at a time i guess!

Don't Miss:
Playa del Carmen
George Town, Grand Cayman
Lots of shopping but expensive Jamaica was more affordable, 7 mile beach was nice.
Montego Bay, Jamaica
Stay on the boat or plan an excursion do not go out on your own.

Horrible last impression.
by Laurie from St. Charles, IL, USA
Sailing date:
Mar 2006
Pros:
Getting on the ship was the best and easiest process of the whole week.
The cruise was nothing special. Boat too big - very hard to get around. Felt like a number - not at all personal. The disembarkation process was beyond a nightmare and I left a terrible last impression. I'd never cruise this line again.
