Enjoyable cruise by
Nan B from Southeast Sailing date: Apr 2013Pros: The staff on the ship . Cons: Food The staff onboard the NCL Star was extremely efficient in taking care of our needs. The dining room servers were super even though the food was rather bland and monotonous. The breakfast at the Market Cafe was our favorite meal. We tried a couple of the speciality restaurants but found them not worth the extra money.
The itinerary was excellent. All of the ports we visited were interesting and easy to navigate. Roatan was our favorite!
Thank goodness we spent most of our time outside the stateroom. Our room was clean but very cramped!
All in all I would recommend this cruise to others. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe menu in the two main dining rooms was monotonous. The service was excellent!!!!!! The speciality dining was not worth the extra money. Breakfast in the Market Place restaurant was our favorite meal. Stateroom QualityRoom was clean but extremely small! Ship Staff QualityDining staff in the Aqua dining room was superb!!
Information desk staff seemed pre-occupied and bothered by questions.
Room steward was excellent!
Bar staff was great and very attentive. Entertainment & ActivitiesMany activities provided to meet the needs of all family members. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Good trip, not excellent by
A Traveler from Los Angeles Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Time away Cons: Food, most entertainment The food was okay in the dining rooms, but I never really looked forward to having dinner as compared to other cruises. Breakfast in Market Cafe was the best meal. Also, our stateroom attendant was excellent and did a great job daily and was very friendly. However, there was some long term dirt that would be nice to have cleaned. I know turn around is an issue, but these areas could be addressed. For example, the tissue box cover, tops of outlet in bathroom, tops of towel rungs, soap dispenser and spots in the shower I felt needed a good scrubbing. Lastly, the toilet seat looked very beat up, it should be replaced so it appears much more clean. When we first entered the bathroom, I wiped down several areas and used a tissue to open the toilet and another to flush. Finally, the comedians were good, but we would have enjoyed more evenings of them or other stand up comedians. The final show "Elements" was very good and by far the best show of the entire cruise. Ship QualityPublic areas were being cleaned, but railings were sticky. Not sure if that was because they needed cleaning or because of the cleaning agent. Dining/FoodI was never excited to go to dinner. The first night with Lobster was great, but after that, nothing ever stood out. The dining rooms were nicely decorated and the wait staff was very nice. Stateroom QualityThe stateroom was small as expected, and daily chores were done nicely but there was some long term grime that should be addressed. The toilet seat was really beat up too, it had the appearance of being dirty, but needed to be replaced. Beds were fairly comfortable. Ship Staff QualityStaff was very friendly and very nice. Our stateroom attendant always knew our name as we were coming and going. Waiters were very nice as well. Entertainment & ActivitiesNot a huge fan of the entertainment, however the final show "Elements" was great. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Fantastic Trip by
Barb S. from Washington, DC Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: Friendly, hard-working staff. Lots of choices for food and activities. Cons: Smokers! Casino air was unbreathable. The Star was very quiet and clean. There were enough staffers to keep everything running efficiently, and staff were incredibly good-humored. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodSimpler food was best. Surf and turf were broiled perfectly. Other, more complex, dishes such as cioppino, were less successful. Food is bland. Spices should be available to kick it up a notch. Stateroom QualityI didn't think 3 of us were going to fit in a smallish cabin, but we did. It really was perfect. Ship Staff QualityI've never experienced such a high level of friendliness and professionalism. Entertainment & Activities

  Never Again by
A Traveler from NY Sailing date: Aug 2012Pros: 2 main dining rooms has decent food Cons: Balcony room was very small, ran out of items at the buffet, not enough 120volt outlets in the room, no iron available for nightly use had to wait 45 min each night , room service took over an hour, to call reception or room service or restaurant reservations was at least a 10 min wait on hold I went on this cruise for a family members wedding, so we were a group of about 26 ranging from 2 years old to 80. I have cruisedin the past but more recently usually go on all inclusive vacations. The amount of money for this cruise was not worth what you were given. You can go to an all inclusive for the same amount or cheaper and not have to pay for anything when you get there, not even tips! The balcony mini suite was extremely small with only 2 drawers and a small closet. We had 3 people in the room, 2 adults And a child and had to take everything out of our suitcases and find places for it do we could stuff the suitcases under the bed or else we wouldnt b able to move. There was only 1 120v outlet in the room and 1 in the bathroom. We thought an iron would be available for use in the room but you had to call to get one, wait on hold for them to answer then wait another 45 min for them to bring it to you! They ran out of food items at the buffet such as Italian dressing but had 3 of the same types of dressing. They also had a lot of starchy foods on the buffet line. The watersides close at the pool very often and the pool closes to of the water is rough. The basketball court was usually being used during the day by a kids camp so you couldnt play. Most of the competitions pool side were for adults not children. Lastly you will be charged a $12 per day service charge per person on your bill. Make sure to go to the desk on the last night and ask to remove this. This is in addition to gratuity being added to your check Everytime you order a drink! Ship Quality

  A vacation to remember by
Sue S from New Jersey Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: Convenient port, well maintained ship, excellent staff, 3 day stay in Bermuda Cons: Stateroom size, small pool area, not enough lounge chairs, menu choices This was our first Norwegian cruise. The ship was well maintained, very clean and nicely decorated. The rooms were a little small but had sufficient closet/storage space. Our room attendant was amazing. The buffets had various types of tasty food but I felt there should have been more seafood dishes included in all the restaurants. The wait staff was very efficient. The head chef visited every table at dinner to ask if there was anything needed. The entertainment staff/shows were wonderful. The pool area was small and there were definitely not enough lounge chairs. Overall I would rate this cruise as excellent. Getting to spend 3 days in beautiful Bermuda was amazing. Ship Quality

  Okay-ish cruise by
Roger I from New Jersey Sailing date: Jun 2012Pros: Almost 3 full days in Bermuda Cons: Stateroom was dirty (dust everywhere), waiters were not prepared to serve wine properly even in specialty restaurants Excellent musicians on board (Star Orchestra and Manila Trio), nice pool with 2 water slides, hot tubs, night shows. Dining/FoodTeppanyaki restaurant is a real rip off (overpriced) and food was completely tasteless, don't waste your money and simply go to Acqua or Versailles (already included in all packages).
Moderno Churrascaria is average, but they do not serve you quality meats; go for Le Bistro or Cagney's instead. Stateroom QualityStateroom was dirty (dust all over the place). Ship Staff QualityFriendly staff. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe Daily (on board newspaper) definitely helps you a lot. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Best bang for your buck by
Christine K from Warnerville, NY Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: Food and shows, the Pub Hop, flexibility of Cons: Not as many activities planned before noon aside from exercise related ones. Pool area was smaller than anticipated. The pool area seemed outdated, however the activities really made the experience enjoyable. We were pleasantly surprised that our stateroom had more storage and larger bathroom than on Norwergian Sky. Ship QualityThe ship was considerably larger than when we sailed on the Norwegian Sky. There were more dining options. As mentioned earlier, the pool area seemed small/outdated. Cleanliness and decor rate high. Dining/FoodNever had a bad meal. Waitstaff highly attentive. Food always delicious. Matter of fact, I would rate our experience in the main dining halls higher than our experience in the specialty restaurants. Stateroom QualityAs mentioned earlier, we were pleasantly surprised that our stateroom had more storage and larger bathroom than on Norwergian Sky. Our steward, Victor, was always great about tidying up the room and restocking whatever was needed. Ship Staff QualityAlways friendly and attentive. Many had a great sense of humor (Estela and Philip from Acqua dining, Henry from the Pub Hop). Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows were superb. Plenty of afternoon/night time activities. Wish there were more activities in the morning, aside from fitness related ones. 6 out of 6 people found this review helpful.

A Traveler from NJ Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: combimnation of sea and land time Cons: noise Numbering of cabins is confusing. Ship Quality
