To paradise and back
by Jackie R. from Baltimore. MD
Sailing date:
May 2013
Pros:
Staff and service.
Cons:
Paying $120 to hire a wheelchair, didn't realize how far it was to walk from cabin to elevators..
The Pride is an older ship and beginning to show her age but that did not detract from the many amenities and services provided. Our junior suite was huge and had everything in the way of creature comforts and more than enough storage space. Our cabin steward Puto was wonderful and nothing was too much trouble for him or his colleagues. The on board entertainment was really good and Kirk and his chuckle buddies were hilarious. The dining room staff and service were exceptional as was the food, vast range to choose from to please every palate. I loved the fact that after the first day, the staff knew our names and it made you feel like a part of the Carnival family. Sometimes the simplest plans gave one the most pleasure, sitting on my balcony, surrounded by that vast ocean with a tropical drink in one hand and a good book in the other was perfection indeed.

Such a small thing, but the covers on the two stateroom chairs were tatty and in need of replacing.

Bahamas Cruise
by Sherri S from IL
Sailing date:
Mar 2013
Pros:
Hanging with our friends at senior frogs in Nassau
Cons:
The rocky night at sea, several broken dishes, tvs, delayed 2 hours on return and I felt the passengers that needed to get to the airport should have had priority since we were already 2 hours late.
This was our second time on the Pride. It was ok. The staff in the dining room and our room steward were awesome! However, the customer service was not as good as it was back in 2004. I felt like the ship was understaffed. Saturday evening on our way back to Baltimore we had 30 mile per hour winds with 15 ft waves. The ship was very rocky and several coffee cups, liquor bottles and glasses and even a few tv's broke. Our friends wine glasses broke and shattered all over their bed and the floor in their stateroom. The called guest services twice and were told someone would be there. Nobody showed up and they had to clean up the broken glass themselves. They even slept on some glass because they missed a few pieces. That should not have happened. They should have pulled employees from the bars if necessary. It seemed all they cared about was getting people to drink up and spend money. This was my 7th Carnival cruise and it may very well be the last.

Entertainment & Activities
I was disappointed in the Vegas style shows and the staff run activities were often inappropriate. At one show the man on stage was talking to a 4 year old and when she didn't respond he said "are you deaf?" Totally inappropriate.

No sleep = No fun
by John H from Harrisburg PA
Sailing date:
Jan 2013
Pros:
Inexpensive
Cons:
Being kept up until 1AM every night
Ship was nice enough appearance-wise. One big problem though: Our stateroom was located very close to a bar that had a live rock band playing until 1AM almost every night. Being kept awake by the musical stylings of Journey and Skynard night after night, coupled with the staff dragging furniture around (HONNNNNNKKKK) at 6AM pretty well ruined the trip. I've never had a problem like this on other cruise lines. The layout of the common/entertainment areas and/or the sound insulation is terrible. The guest services desk offered us complimentary earplugs which did nothing, and later offered to refund 20% of our cruise price. That helps, but I would have much preferred to pay the price that I agreed to and get a decent night of sleep. We really missed out on doing much of anything fun in port becuase we were both exhausted. Another minor beef: Carnival automatically applies the customary tip amounts to your on-board card account. This is done on the second day of the cruise, so at that point, how do I really know if anybody deserves a better (or not so great) tip? Secondly, how do I know if the people serving me are getting that tip or if the cruise line is taking a big chunk of it? I much prefer to hand them cash at the end of the week.

It's a good looking ship to not sleep on.
Dining/Food
Pretty standard cruise ship fare.
Stateroom Quality
Larger than we've experienced with other cruise lines. A bit worn, but servicable. A nice place to hang out and not sleep.
Ship Staff Quality
Average
Entertainment & Activities
Mediocre. The main theatre exclusively featured the "carnival pride dancers" which wasn't really my thing. Comedians in the comedy club were OK. Kind of missed the variety acts that other cruise lines feature - magicians, ventriloquist, etc.

I have had better!
by Millie W from Ann Arbor, Mi and England
Sailing date:
Dec 2012
Pros:
Piano Bar and Trivia
Cons:
Shows
The shows were awful. The dancers were ok but the musicals were difficult to sit through and so we either left or did not attend. I did not like the assistant to the cruise director and this was not as good as other cruises I have been on.

There are so many talented singers in the world, why not contract with some real singers. If felt like we had to suffer through a bad highschool musical where the only persons enjoying the show were the parents.

Great first time cruise
by A Traveler from Cleveland, ohio
Sailing date:
Dec 2012
Pros:
Being on the ocean, ports of call, hot tubs, serenity deck, live music, food
Cons:
Not enough time in freeport
We are first time cruisers and were nervous about being crowded, but the rooms and the ship areas were spacious and we had plenty of areas where we could be alone if we wanted. There were also many opportunities to meet new people. We had a blast and would do it again!

Our first cruise
by Amy D. from Duncansville, PA
Sailing date:
Nov 2012
Pros:
relaxing watching the world slide by
Cons:
the food was just ok
The ship is on the small side, and one of the older of the fleet. The crew is extremely wonderful and helpful. The food was ok, it was edible, but nothing to write home about. There was a lot to do the first few days but then a lot of nothing it seemed like the last 3.
