Next time it's a suite.
by Judi from New York
Sailing date:
Sep 2007
Pros:
The food was fabulous and the cleanliness superb. The ship is impressive in its appearance.
We love cruising, but next time we will book a suite, mainly because you don't have to wait on interminably long lines, in the heat and humidity, to board the ship. I filled out the sea-pass ahead of time at home on the computer but still had to wait--all in all the ship is wonderful and is worth every penny, but the boarding and disembarking are the worst part. Please think of a more pleasant way to go through this.

Love this cruise line.
by Ray from Elgin, TX
Sailing date:
Jun 2007
Pros:
Activity areas - climbing wall, inline skating, ice skating rink. And the entertainment. And the dining staff.
I will definitely choose Royal Caribbean again. Their staff were wonderful, the entertainment was superb, the public areas were clean, and the excursions were great. It was a wonderful cruise to celebrate our 10 year anniversary. It is definitely geared more toward the active, which we loved. If you want a 'traditional' cruise, this isn't for you. But if you want a relaxing, fun environment then RCC is for you. We'll be sailing with the again, someday.

Entertainment & Activities
Activities: Love the inline skate track and wall climbing. Those were great! Entertainment: The quality of entertainers on the cruise was outstanding. I went to the Lyric Theater every night and thoroughly enjoyed it. And what I loved the most is nobody tried to push drinks down us while we were there, which I've heard can be annoying from talking with others that took other cruise lines.

Nice, but not as nice as the other stops. Bridgetown was nice, but not as nice as the other ports of call. The excursion we did was the cave hike. That was great, but not for those scared of tight spaces. You will crawl through tunnels in the cave on your hands and knees, with water flowing through. Really unique experience.
Don't Miss:
Cave hike/tour.
St. John, U.S.V.I.
Beach. We went to the beach on our own - wonderful relaxing time with few people around.
Castries, St. Lucia
Go for the zip lines We did the zip lines through the tree tops. That is something you SHOULD not miss!
Don't Miss:
Zip line through the tree tops - wonderful scenic views and experience.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Power Snorkel. We did power snorkeling and loved it. Good guides and pretty good views.

A Nice Cruise
by Mr. & Mrs. S from Northern VA
Sailing date:
Oct 2009
Pros:
The Activities Available
Cons:
Lack of Free Beverage Stations
It was overall a good cruise. The ship was clean and most of the staff was very friendly. Just wish there had been beverage stations available on the pool deck. Prior cruises had them, and it was sorely missed on this ship.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
It was annoying that you had to go up one flight of stairs, through the casino, and back down a flight of stairs to get to the main shows from dinner.
Dining/Food
We didn't try any of the specialty restaurants that were not included. There was only one evening that we didn't like the main entree selection during dinner.
Stateroom Quality
The chairs on our balcony were dirty.
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
A great variety of things to do around the ship. There was only one main show that we didn't like. We liked that the main shows were fun and not super cheesy.

Was let down by Royal Carribean Cruise
by Denise from Columbus Oh
Sailing date:
Mar 2009
Pros:
The beaches on the islands
Cons:
The service the cruiseline gave after crusing 4 times with them.
After 3 years of waiting to be able to go on a cruise again with Royal Caribbean, I was so shocked and disappointed. The food quality has gone down. The same lunch items everyday at the buffet. The service for our room was poor. Our floor never got vaccumed and we had to strip the bed to get clean sheets. I was to have a container in my room to put my needles in after I took my shots but no where to be found. The band at the pool was terrible and as I listened to the song they sang the words were depressing about someone loosing a girlfriend and didn't want to live any longer. I got up and left the area. There was not really a midnight buffet in the grand dining room as I had experineced before. Just one night on deck and was not good at all. Lots of other cruisers complained about the lower standards. Even the evening entertainment was not that great. At the Captains Welcome Back we were not offered appetizers, just walk right by my husband and another couple and we even tried to reach out to get it off the tray. Was very disappointed about the whole cruise. The ports were the best and it was a good thing they were because it would have been a terrible vacation. My husband said he would not cruise again after that disappointment. The only good thing I can say was the ship was clean as always. The staff was nice.

I recommend spending time at Palm Beach area. The snorkeling was not great. Didn't care for Arbua otherwise. Other ports much better.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
This is the 2nd time to St Thomas and we highly recommend this port. Snorking and swimming is awesome. Magen's Beach is a must see and place to hang out. A Beautiful Island.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
We liked this port to. The beach was nice and lots of shopping.
Curacao
I would love to go back and spend a few days there. The Taxi service took us to this very nice beach that cost $3.00. I could have stayed there at the beach the whole day. It was clean and nice there. Not much else other than shopping. Lots of shopping there

Quite a trip
by Tom M. from Chicago
Sailing date:
Feb 2010
Pros:
Customer service on the ship
Cons:
Hairpin turns on mountain roads
The ship is very well laid out. Its the biggest one we've been on, and it felt the least crowded. It was not possible to participate in every availble activity.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
You can tell the ship has been around a while, but it is very well maintained. We experienced none of the plumbing and elevator issues mentioned in other reviews we've seen.
Dining/Food
This is the bigget area of concern. Portofino, the specialty restaurant was great. However, anything cooked on the breakfast buffet was mediocre, at best. The same stuff was also served in the main dining room. Dinners were better but not great.
Stateroom Quality
We had a junior suite and it was far better than other balcony rooms we've had before. You get all the amenities you would get in a good hotel room, and the balcony was terrific: three chairs (one a recliner) and a table. The room was full of closets and drawers. Our four large suitcases didn't use more than half the space. It had a walk-in closet with shelves.
Ship Staff Quality
The stateroom attendant , waiter and head waiter were fantastic. Others on board were also very helpful. RCL must have a terrific training and recruitment program.
Entertainment & Activities
Mercedes, the cruise director was fun. They had an act, the Scintas, who were headliners in Las Vegas when we visited in the past. Their show was great, but the best thing was their friendliness. We saw them several times on the ship. A highlight of the cruise, for us, was when they joined the singer at the piano bar to sing several songs, and banter (and drink) with the folks in the bar.

Great cruise with lots to do!
by Krista P from St George, UT
Sailing date:
Oct 2008
Pros:
Lots of activities and friendly staff!
Cons:
No drink machines in public areas make it hard to find water when you want it!
Nice ship with lots of things to do. Staff was friendly and attentive. The only thing I didn't like was that I am a big water drinker and it was hard to find a drink when you wanted it unless you were in a restaurant. Also, in Aruba, DO NOT DIVE WITH RED SAIL SPORTS which is the company currently providing service for the ship. They are an accident waiting to happen. We had a group of 11 that went along with a few others from the ship, and almost ALL of us had equipment problems, and BIG problems, not just little ones!

Dining/Food
Not as good as Celebrity, but better than others we've been on.
Stateroom Quality
Nice, clean, large staterooms.
Ship Staff Quality
Friendly and attentive.
Entertainment & Activities
Shows weren't that great, but lots to do and game shows are really fun!

The only thing we did in Aruba was diving, so that's all we saw, and the diving was great other than the majorly DANGEROUS equipment problems we had with RED SAIL SPORTS who is currently the company the ship uses for shore excursions. BEWARE.
Don't Miss:
Diving was great, just DON'T GO WITH RED SAIL SPORTS.

What a great place! We went to Cas Aabo beach. A truly great place to go! About 40 minute taxi ride but worth every minute.

Royal Caribbean vs Omar
by Annette R. from Atlanta, Ga
Sailing date:

Pros:
Staff was helpful and friendly, effective effecient
Cons:
Menu in main dining room needed more variety
Good ship. I enjoyed the ice skating and rock climbing. The staff was helpful and friendly. The "rush" you off the ship at journey's end was minimal.

The night light fixtures next to the bed did not have shades and my child cut her finger on the fixture. The bathroom shower fixtures were starting to peel and the soap dish was loose on the wall

Great adult family vacation.
by Carole from Providence, RI
Sailing date:
Jul 2007
Pros:
We met a bartender in the Sports bar and he was the greatest. Always had a smile and made you feel so welcomed. Staff in general were always friendly and helpful. The entertainment was great, even our 20 something kids enjoyed it.
This was a college graduation celebration and we all had a wonderful time. The staff was friendly and helpful. The islands were beautiful.

Beware the dark side of Barbados. Barbados is a beautiful island and most of the locals are friendly.
Don't Miss:
The beaches are beautiful.
St. John, U.S.V.I.
Antigua has great beach activities. We enjoyed our beach day. My son rode a jetski and our daughters went horseback riding on the beach. Mom and Dad were happy to lounge in chairs, read and relax.
Castries, St. Lucia
The Reduit Beaches are beautiful.
Don't Miss:
The Beaches.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
Shopping in St. Maarten was great. Shopped the Dutch side. It was great. But be careful when purchasing jewelry. Prices are very inflated on the tags. Had to have my purchase repaired one week after returning home. Best advice is buyer beware.
Don't Miss:
The mixture of the two cultures/Fench and Dutch.
