Fun and Relaxing trip! by
A Traveler from Kentucky Sailing date: May 2012This was such a great cruise with lots of activities, excellent food, very relaxing, and the nicest and most helpful waitstaff and other employees that I have ever met. Ship QualityThe only complaint was that it was difficult to get places the first couple of days even with the map. Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityEveryone was extremely nice and friendly, but the waitstaff in particular was amazing. They were so nice, knew what they were talking about, and made the experience wonderful. Entertainment & Activities

A FIVE NIGHTER FROM JACKSONVILLE by
Phil B & Mrs from Tallahasse, FL Sailing date: Apr 2012Pros: ANOTHER FRIENDLY CARNIVAL SHIP Cons: MISSING HALF MOON CAY The cruise was very good but with bad weather meant we missed out on Half Moon Cay. The cruise line put in an extra stop at Freeport to make up for it. Overall a good time away !! Ship QualityThe ship had the traditional layout of a Carnival ship, so if you have sailed before you won't get lost Dining/FoodExcellent with a good variety and always hot Stateroom QualityLook out for the animal folded towels in your well kept stateroom Ship Staff QualityAll the staff were very friendly and welcoming Entertainment & ActivitiesTalent nights were great 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

First cruise - good overall by
Dale Y from Fayetteville, NC Sailing date: Apr 2011Pros: Clean ship, excellent service Cons: First cabin had a strong sewer smell The Carnival Destiney is a fine ship. Very well maintained, well layed out, and clean. It appears tp have been recently renovated. Ship QualityThe ship is large enough to offer everything, without being too large to wander about. The decor is modern and tastefull. Dining/FoodOur dining room was excellent. The open dining area/grill was fast foodish and crowded. Some type of service is available 24/7, and our dining times were convenient. Stateroom QualityOur first stateroom suffered some kind of plumbing malfunction. We suffered a day of a very strong sewer smell before we complained. After alerting the crew, we were in a new stateroom within 2 hours. I can' think of anything the crew might have done differently to correct the problem. Ship Staff QualityService as it should be. Simply the best I've ever experienced. Courteous and cheerful all the time. Entertainment & ActivitiesOn board shows were entertaining and scheduled at convenient times. Good variety of entertainment.

Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandLooked like a slum. We chose to stay on board, as it was only the first full day of the cruise. Other passengers seems to enjoy the day ashore.
Nassau, BahamasHonestly, we were disappointed in Nassau. Except for The Atlantis Resort, what we saw was like any other tourist trap location we've been to, only slightly less affluent. Think Colon, Panama or Cairo.

The private Island is great. by
Pam V. from Monroe, Ga. Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: Half Moon Cay is the best part of the cruise. Cons: There were not enough activities for the days at sea. Plus, the food could use improvement. The ship could use some improvements as far as the musky smells in the halls. It is my understanding that they will be refurbishing the ship soon. The beds are nice and the workers on the ship were great. The casino was not giving out any money though. The shows were wonderful. If you need a relaxing time away this was a good vacation to go on. Ship QualityThe ship was clean. However, there was a musty smell in the halls. They do have some problems in the public bathrooms with the toilets running over. Dining/FoodThe food could use some improvement as compared to some other ships I have been on. I got tired of hambugers which they tend to serve all the time. They only have two resturants the formal dining and the pool dining. They do have a free sushi bar though which was great. Stateroom QualityThe rooms were confortable. There was lots of closet space and the beds were very confortable. The bath was just the right size. Ship Staff QualityAll the workers were great. They were friendly and did the best they could to make you happy. Entertainment & Activities

  Waste of time by
Gary B. from Atlanta Sailing date: Sep 2010Pros: getting off the ship Cons: Being crammed like a sardine The Carnival Fascination is an older ship that apparently underwent renovations. However, the decor is cheap and cheesy with lots of neons giving the appearance of a 1980's disco feel wherever we went--even in Coconut Grove cafe. There are very few places one can escape people, unike other ships we've been on of a similar size. Being a 4 day Bahamas cruise out of Jacksonville it catered to the party set, which was not our cup of tea.We were looking to have fun too, but not to the extent of having to be drunk and obnoxious to enjoy oneself. Ship QualityNo problem with cleanliness, and the cabin stewards were excellent. One problem was that the no smoking signs were constantly ignored. When staff were alerted they didn't care. There were designated smoking areas but one couldn't see ash trays etc. so no wonder people smoked where they liked. Dining/FoodFormal dining was a mixed bag. The staff were great, but sometimes the food appeared as it had been cooked 30 minutes before and reheated. Other nights it was great. Again, not up to what we've had, say on Royal Caribbean. Stateroom QualityThis was the one upside. Perhaps the renovations extended here. We had a triple room with a window and the configuration gave us plenty of room. It was kept very clean. Ship Staff QualityCabin stewards and dining staff were always good. When we pointed out people smoking in non-designated areas, they couldn't care less. In one shop my wife wanted to a buy a purse that was in the window (they had no stock). The assistant sais "I don't have a key." So I suggested she ask her supervisor. The reply was, 'she doesn't have key either." Plainly ridiculous. Entertainment & ActivitiesFirst couple of nights we had dancers and a review. The comedian was average--shame he had to use foul language to make his second appearance "adult". The last night we had a large black female 'comedian'. I use the term loosely because she didn't tell any jokes. She made referenced to human genetalia and the inebriated passengers thought it was funny. I'm no prude but it was crass and cheap. Several people walked out.

Freeport, Grand Bahama IslandOne little shopping precinct and one beach. Not much to see at all unfortunately.
Don't Miss: There isn't one. Nassau, BahamasMuch more interesting. get a taxi (don't pay for the ship excursion) and get a taxi to Atlantis or Cabbage Beach for a swim. We had a taxi/shuttle tour of the town. Not a lot to see but the city is on the doorsteps of the port and there is more shopping than Freeport.
Don't Miss: Atlantis resort--just to visit. 6 out of 9 people found this review helpful.

  An amazing cruise! by
Michelle M. from Dalton, GA Sailing date: Sep 2009Pros: The whole experience. Cons: Did so much we were exhausted....our fault! Great cruise for first-timers. Our cabin steward Bernard was the best! Not only did he remember our names and greet us everytime he saw us but he surprised us with a different towel animal everyday. So much to do on the ship we never lacked for fun and adventure. Ports of call were great...especially Half Moon Cay. I have never seen any place so beautiful! Nassau was alot of fun but beware of the tour offers from the locals when you first come off the ship. Go inside the welcome building and do your own thing cheaper than what the tour people offer. Food was excellent and cruise staff was the best. Shows were very good with many talented performers. Comedian was halarious. Photo's were very expensive and not really that good.....ended up spending over $100 for them anyway. Overall it was an excellent experience and will do it again. Dining/FoodFood at dinner in the main dining rooms was 5 star! Have the lobster tail and the chocolate molten cake. YUMMMY! Stateroom QualityVery comfortable room. Ship Staff QualityCould not askfor a more qualfied and friendly staff! Entertainment & ActivitiesSo much to do! 4 out of 5 people found this review helpful.

  Nice Relaxing Cruise by
Judy S. from Ocala, FL Sailing date: Feb 2009Pros: Comfort of Beds Cons: Buffet Ship was very clean and nice. In good shape for how old she is. Ship QualityCondition is very good. very clean. Decor was not that great as the new ships out there. Dining/FoodFood was always good to excellent in the dining rooms. Buffet was another story. On embarkation only hamburger and hot dogs. Other options , but were not really good. If ou want to enjoy the cruise eat in the restuarant for all meals, you are on vacation and should be waited on. Stateroom QualityStaterooms were nice, seemed small, but effecient. Plenty of closet and storage space. Clean and Beds were Great. Ship Staff QualityDid not receive any exceptional service. Did not use our names. Entertainment & ActivitiesShows were great, Love the 80's finale show. Comedian was also fantastic!
Not enough Lido deck partys. Ship seemed to wind down early, thought I was on a fun ship.

  BEWARE OF PORTHOLE ROOMS!!! by
Adam M. from Knoxville Sailing date: Mar 2012Pros: beautiful ship, amazingly friendly staff, decent food Cons: expensive drinks, very loud noises while pulling into port Overall the cruise was very nice. We saved some money booking our own snorkeling in Freeport and going to the public beach in Nassau. The biggest negative was definitely the porthole room. As we pulled into each dock we heard very, very loud machinery that also shook our room. This would not have been a problem except for the fact that it goes on for about an hour and occurs between four and seven in the morning. If you are an early riser who is up before then the porthole room might be for you but otherwise just go for an interior or upgrade to an ocean view! 7/10! Ship Quality
