just another trip... by
Vance from Cary, NC Sailing date: Apr 2013Pros: bar staff Cons: dining room mediocre at best...non tipped staff (security, food service, port staff etc.) really didnt seem to care much. If anything, they made us feel as though we were a hinderence to their day. We were never welcomed, thanked or made to feel important. Ship Quality
Dining/Foodmain dining room food was horrible. And if the lousy food wasnt enough, they sang happy birthday every 10 minutes, tried to take photos while we dined and sell liquor shots. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Qualitytipped staff was great...non tipped staff was horrible. Entertainment & Activities

  Not that great by
Constance L from Asheville, NC Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Very friendly staff and good food Cons: Loud pop music everywhere, too expensive Too much glitzy commercial stuff trying to convince you to spend-spend-spend! The staff was great. The excursions were way too expensive to consider... and no info about other options once you were on the island. A few good shows, but not enough early family-oriented entertainment for what is billed as a 'family cruise.' The kids camp was very limited. They don't even take the kids swimming, which is the most fun thing for kids to do on the ship. Not much in the way of crafts/interesting activities. Ship QualityClean and the staff worked hard to create a nice environment. Personally, though, too much shops and emphasis on spending money. Dining/FoodThe food was quite good. The desserts were amazing. Stateroom QualityI thought our room was big enough. Too bad they charge for every little thing, including water, when there was no decent drinking water available otherwise. Ship Staff QualityExcellent, fun staff. Entertainment & ActivitiesNot enough going on when you're at sea for two days. Boring activities like Bingo. Not enough for kids. We did see two good comedians. Children's ProgramsNot nearly enough and not very engaging. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Nothing Fabulous! by
Heather W. from Knoxville, TN Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Port close to home. Cons: Not much to do. Old, outdated, and small. Ship QualityLayout of ship is very confusing to navigate. Dining/FoodFood was some of the worst we have had on a cruise. Stateroom QualityStateroom was decent, and kept clean Ship Staff QualityMost of the staff were friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesThere is not alot to do on the Fantasy, especially when it's cold on deck. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Good overall by
A Traveler from VA Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Convenience of port location to home Cons: Wish I would have realized it was spring break for college kids! Overall is was a good trip. Had a great time snorkelling at Deadman's Reef in Freeport.. look up their website and book directly through them for less money. Tons of spring breakers, which wouldn't have bothered me normally but the ones in our cabin area were very rude- extremely loud all hours of the night. Food was good- not exceptional but we certainly didn't starve. We liked being able to drive to Charleston vs having to fly to Florida. Ship QualityOur room steward Arthur was very friendly. Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityNeed refrigerators in rooms!!!! Ship Staff QualityEveryone was fine with the exception of the one guest services person we dealt with- he was very rude. Entertainment & ActivitiesComedy shows were great. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  wonderful cruise by
Rebekah G from NC Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Was very relaxing and everyone was very nice and helpful. Cons: We went spring break so there were a lot of drunk college kids, which was not very enjoyable on our honeymoon. You could easily hear people outside the rooms Very clean, and lots to do. Ship QualityWas a smaller ship but there was still plenty to do and plenty of places to go! Dining/FoodThere was lots of food. I wouldn't say it was amazing but it was good and always available. I would not recommend getting a soda card unless you really really drink lots of sodas. Every time we seat down to eat it took FOREVER for them to bring us anything other then water. And the only places to get the sodas are at the bars and it takes forever to get them. So if you are not very patient and diligent you will not get your sodas. Stateroom QualityOf course the staterooms were not very big but we excepted that. They were very clean and nice. The man taking care of our room was wonderful. He came in and cleaned up twice and day and made sure we were fully stocked in towels and everything else we needed. Once I asked for another blanket and he stopped what he was doing and got it right then with a big smile on his face. Only thing I wish was different about the room was there was not a fridge. Ship Staff QualityEveryone was awesome. Our stateroom staff was wonderful and more than willing to do anything we needed. Everyone was very friendly and willing to help with anything that we needed. They couldn't have been nicer! Entertainment & Activities

Would choose a different ship next time by
A Traveler from SC Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: short travel distance to port Cons: music very loud showed it's age, but mostly clean. Except for the room attendant we felt most of the crew were just not very friendly. Ship Qualitynot many public restrooms and some needed service Dining/Foodfood was fair and always a wait for the pizza, even when not a long line. Very slow in dining room. Stateroom Qualitybeds were comfortable and room clean Ship Staff QualityA few very friendly, but most seemed very indifferent. Entertainment & Activitiesthe shows were okay, not a lot of options. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

A disappointing 5 day vacation by
ARM from Charlotte Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: The pillows in the stateroom were very nice, as well as the soft-serve icecream... Cons: We were all seasick the entire time. The food was awful, getting one of my friend's sick on the first night. The ship was a little outdated and the events were either free and cheesy or okay and very expensive. It was also very loud the entire time from all the music being place. Overall, you could tell it was a bit outdated and cheesy. The carpet and decor wasn't that nice, the staterooms were a bit rugged and cheap. Our sink was broken and squirted water everywhere with every single use. The dining room was a bit clustered. I was not very happy with the ship. There was only one small pool and 3 hottubs which were always occupied. Not a lot of choices for a ship with approximately 1500-2000 guests on board.
Nassau was a wonderful experience but I don't quite understand why they stop in Freeport. It is just a port city and very trashy with nothing to do. Clearly, it benefits the cruise line in some way or it is just the only way to make it a 5-day cruise. I rather would have stayed overnight in Nassau- but it is probably too expensive for them to dock overnight... disappointed. I felt like I only had one day (not even a full day) to enjoy the Bahamas, which was the sole reason for this cruise Ship QualityIt was very clean for the most part. People were always cleaning the ship. The decor was outdated and cheesy. Public space was okay but I did not like the smoking on the boat and inside the casino b/c the casino is open and the smoke drifts into other parts of the boat. Disgusting. Dining/FoodOur dining time was nice as we were able to go whenever we wanted, but only in one dining room. It would have been nice to be able to eat in any dining room we wanted but we were not allowed. The food was awful. It was like eating in a hospital. They would literally bring our food out on trays while we had our first course and it would sit there until we got done. Weird. Very disappointing as the advertisements make you think the food is amazing. Stateroom QualityThe pillows were nice. Not a lot of space, but not really expecting space with a cruise. Everything was outdated. Ship Staff QualityOverall, everyone who worked on the ship was very nice. Entertainment & ActivitiesThere were a few things to do but the things for free were not that great. The other things were so expensive (Bingo for $20 a sheet?! wow.) Children's ProgramsAlmost everything was age appropriate. This was almost a downfall b/c everything was fit for families with little ones and not adults. 2 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

Great cruise, but bring Dramamine. by
Lara M from Nashville, TN Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: Nassau snorkel with sharks excursion (through Orbitz) was incredible! Cons: Rough seas with Dr. closed (night) and no over the counter meds available to buy on ship. The ship and crew were great! "Cheap" food (burgers, pizza, hot dogs) were aweful, but the "better" food options were amazing! Club O2 (older teens) was fantastic! Even though this is the oldest ship and scheduled for overhaul next month, it was well kept and the entertainment was fantastic, both in the show lounge and on the deck! Room service offers smoked salmon and hot coffee, which helped start the days. Laundry is available on board. Bring a nice outfit (or two) for formal portraits worth taking home! Ship QualityOther than a few frayed carpet fibers and a loose strip of caulking, you couldn't tell it was in need of attention. After January 2012 when it returns from renovations, it will look even more amazing! Dining/FoodThe food was wonderful! A "Mexican buffet" the last night was the highlight with ice sculptures, artfully designed desserts, and the most amazing appetizers of the entire trip! The feta potatoes were to die for! Stateroom QualityIf you are prone to motion sickness, choose a cabin near the center of the ship to reduce movement. Porthole rooms are a nice economy option! Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesThe love/marriage show is a "can't miss" - the best show of the entire cruise! After Jan 2012, new shows will be introduced. Children's ProgramsClub O2 (ages 15-17) kept the kids busy and happy until 1 AM daily with activities, games, teen dinners, dances and encouraging new friendships. 3 out of 4 people found this review helpful.

  an okay cruise by
A Traveler from South Carolina Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: my granddaughter had a blast, her first cruise Cons: it was a holiday cruise, hardly anything done for the holidays, very dissapointing. The director of the kids program was not very nice to us. We went EARLY to get a seat for the holiday show (like a many others did) to see our granddaughter in the show. we had a nice front row seat. the show was at 4:00 and at 3:45ish she comes out and says we can't sit there, it was suppose to be posted that it was reserved for the kids (no signs or ropes were there). She was not nice about it and now we had NO SEATS as the place had filled up by then. she could have been more pleasant about it and arranged that we could have sat there with the kids or something. it was in sheer poor taste of that woman to treat us like she did. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodFood was good, as usual on a Carnival ship Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Qualityexpect for the director of the kids stuff... Entertainment & ActivitiesI am sorry but the costume the girls wear in the shows, i do believe are very inappropriate. There were many kids on this cruise attending these shows and those women up there in a thong that barely covers anything. even for the adults, some people do find this insensitive. no reason they have to be that barely dressed. Children's ProgramsCamp Carnival is a very good thing 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
