Awesome cruise
by A Traveler from Raleigh, NC
Sailing date:
Nov 2012
Pros:
the ship itself, great food.
Cons:
Crowds, pools overflowing
Very clean ship...we had a really good time. Gained a few pounds from all the food, but I can't complain at all. Would highly recommend cruising as a vacation option. You can't beat sitting on the deck in the sunshine in the middle of the Atlantic. Picture perfect.

A Well needed vacation
by A Traveler from Charlotte, NC
Sailing date:
Oct 2012
Pros:
Pretty much everything
Cons:
Boat looks a little aged
My husband and I were in need a vacation, so we decided to take our first cruise on the Carnival Fantasy. It was a 5 night cruise, which we thought initially would be WAY too much time away from home and the children, but we had a truly wonderful time. We absolutely loved the beach at Free Port Bahamas--so serene, beautiful..the list goes on and on. The staff was friendly and helpful. There was always something to do--and ALWAYS something to eat :) I would definitely recommend this cruise to anyone that needs a get away from the hustle and bustle of everyday life

The boat loked a little aged but was very clean, eating areas stayed clean, rooms stayed clean
Dining/Food
The food was good--ESPECIALLY the carribean cuisine! I wanted to ask for the recipe. The selection was awesome--we switched up our meals - maybe nice sit down dinner one night, pizza another night, burgers another night, Italian another night--ice cream all day.. My husband gained 9 pounds!! I am too afraid to step on the scale myself
Stateroom Quality
We had a room on the Riviera deck and I'd heard so many horribale things about being on the Riviera deck--but it mus thave been from people that have never stayed on the Riviera deck. We had a porthole window so we could get some light in the room, and the room size was perfect for me and my hubby.

A great cruise and wonderful ppl!!!
by william n. from raleigh,nc
Sailing date:
Oct 2012
Pros:
Great food and entertainment!
Cons:
Should have chosen a different excursion!
The ship was very nice and clean. A little confusing were the glass elevators and how the floors were labeled. It seemed almost everyone had the same problems with the labeling of floors. The decks were nice and had enough chairs. Lots of activities throughout the cruise.

It was alright
by A Traveler from Charlotte NC
Sailing date:
Oct 2012
Pros:
food
Cons:
kids
We were not expecting all the kids that were on this cruise. Kids were left to go about the ship and do what they wanted without parents. They were some teenagers who played on the elevator for 2 hours and said they were bored.

Fantastic time!
by Angie M from Columbia, SC
Sailing date:
Aug 2012
Pros:
Friendly staff and crew!
Cons:
Cost of drinks...
This was a great cruise for the price! Because it leaves out of Charleston, I didn't have to drive more than a few hours to get there, which is a big plus! Overall, the Cruise Director and his staff were GREAT! The crew was nice and the food was delicious!

Well worth the price
by Jackie L from South Rockwood, MI
Sailing date:
Aug 2012
Pros:
Staff, service, and destinations were awesome
Cons:
Quality of food better on other cruise lines
The ship is older but has been updated nicely. The room was the nicest that I have had on any cruise. The staff were wonderful. Entertainment was great. It would have been nice to have a larger pool. Pool was always crowded. Waterpark was a blast...even for older passengers.

A great first cruise
by A Traveler from Atlanta
Sailing date:
Jul 2012
Pros:
Food and the new shows
Cons:
The so called discounts we were told we would get in town on jewelry.
We were on Carnival Fantasy in July 2012 and this was our first cruise, we all had a great time we were a little worried because it was an older ship and smaller but the ship looked great and there was so much to do all kinds of new shows that were excellent most of the staff was excellent the restaurant food was amazing and there was so much of it. The buffet was average nothing to complain about. We left out of Charleston SC. We had rain when we got to Nassau port in the Bahamas. In the Bahamas, Atlantis beach was very nice the main hotel was beautiful the other hotels on the property needed paint badly and some of the water rides seem to need some cleaning the aquarium was just ok it was on the cloudy side. But outside of Atlantis you can keep the Bahamas a very depressed area! And when you docked in Freeport Bahamas it was in a filthy industrial area and you had to take a 15 minute taxi ride to town and good luck finding a friendly cab driver! And the free beach in Freeport you had to go down a filthy ally to get to an overcrowded not very nice beach. There was one worker on the ship her name is Sam and she would have meetings about jewelry at the universe theater and she would tell you which stores in the Bahamas had amazing deals she was very good on stage but do not waste your time going to any of those meetings find something else to do on the ship there were no deals to be had for jewelry everything was marked way up and when they gave you the so called discount there was no deal, so please it is not worth it, do not waste your time it seems like the cruise may get some kind of kickback. Samantha (Sam) from the cruise would give out VIP cards so you could get even better deals but you had to stand on a very long line and wait for her to sign the card and when you would try to use them the jeweler would say I already gave you the best price but by the way I could get a better deal in North Carolina and for that matter probably any store I went to in the states. Plus she said if you see me in the Bahamas in town please ask me questions if you have any, my wife did and boy what a different person from on the stage, she had very fast answers and she seemed like we were bothering her. We met a couple of other girls from other carnival ships that have the same job as Sam and they were very friendly and when we saw them in town they were always saying hi hope you are having fun, but when you saw Sam in town she did not want to look at anyone it seemed. But all the other workers on the ship were great. There was a server her name is Ben and she was awesome she really went out of her way. If it was not for the great cruise and activities the vacation would have been a disappointment because the Bahamas was a huge let down. Also my daughter loved camp carnival she made some good friends and that was great. One more thing on the ship it was very windy so they had to keep the slides to the pool closed understandably but on the way home the weather was great so what did they do at 3pm they closed they slides and we thought they were going to clean them but the slides never opened again? Lots of people were disappointed. The main pool was very small and always crowded so I never felt like going into that poolMy daughter did not mind but sometimes it was even to crowded for her. And the two hot tubs on the main deck are very small and one was closed most of the time for repairs. Most of the time the pool and hot tubs looked like more people than water. I would have given this a 6 stars but I took one away because of the waste of time going to the jewelry shows on the cruise telling you all the huge deals to get in the Bahamas...

I was a little scared because it is an older ship, but the size of the ship is great, the only complaint is the very small crowded pool and the very small hot tubs.
Dining/Food
Great food excellent service
Stateroom Quality
We had an interior room very clean and great beds.
Ship Staff Quality
Most of the crew was extremely freindly. And a waitress her name is Ben going above and beyond!
Entertainment & Activities
Shows were great especially the Beatles show what a great show. The comedy shows were great also very funny, Azeem was hilarious! And the cowboy comic was very funny also.
Children's Programs
My daughter is ten and could not wait to go to carnival camp all the time and she made some great friends.

BORING - VERY LITTLE ADULT ENTERTAINMENT
by Marlene M from Sumter, SC
Sailing date:
Jun 2012
Pros:
DISEMBARKING IN CHARLESTON
Cons:
THE SHIP, SENIOR STAFF AND KIDS RUNNING AROUND ON ALL DECKS
We book this cruise last minute in June. We did not do any research on Carnival cruises, the Fantasy is the only cruise leaving from Charleston. If you want to sunbathe all day and eat junk food with kids around you all of the time, this cruise is for you. Very little entertainment for adults, one small swimming pool for kids and adults. We could not get to the pool at all. The 3 ports visited were beach ports for more sunbathing. Boring to say the least. The Casino was the only escape from an overcrowded ship and kids running around all of the time. One small aft deck for adults only with a hot tub.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship needs a serious renovation!! Outdated and dirty carpets.
Dining/Food
Unless you special order breakfast and lunch, be prepared for cold food. Limited choices.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Be prepared to try to find staff to wipe tables and order drinks.
Entertainment & Activities
Only 2 shows on a 7 day cruise. Limited adult entertainment
