Finally a time to relax
by Ann from Longview, TX
Sailing date:
May 2013
Pros:
The shores excursions were wonderful
Cons:
the beds are uncomfortable and the food isn't the best
The ship is a smaller older vessel and was clean/well maintained but the beds are not soft or comfortable.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
The casual buffet didn't open till 6:30am and for early risers there isn't anything available. The only other options past dining times is pizza and hamburgers which were awful.
Stateroom Quality
Uncomfortable beds.
Ship Staff Quality
Despite the bed being uncomfortable our room staff went out of the way to try and add extra padding to the mattress for our comfort
Entertainment & Activities
There isn't a lot to do on the ship unless you are a bar/drinker. Alot of clubs and alcohol but very few other activities. The comedy shoes are good.

A wonderful cruise
by Jane Plunkett from Detroit Mi.
Sailing date:
Apr 2013
Pros:
Everything
Cons:
Service desk service.
The ship was clean and the cleaning staff were wonderful. I have no complaints other than the service desk person. When we dropped our luggage at the port it showed up in our room with the whole wheel and casing missing, there was a big hole where the wheel should have been. We called the service desk and took the case down there, the service lady told us to "pick up a new one in Cozumel and bring it back on the ship with the receipt:" where we would receive a credit up to $100. We didn't argue because the area was packed but we found that solution completely unacceptable, we had no intention of dragging a huge piece of luggage around Cozumel with us and didn't want to spend our precious few hours shopping. I feel that Carnival should have replaced our suitcase for us and delivered a new one of similar value and size to our room. This was a brand new suitcase and we ended up picking up a couple of nylon bags from the gift shop to pack our belongings in, they were difficult to maneuver and ended up with a broken wheel because they were so difficult to drag around. Completely unacceptable and I would question using or recommending Carnival as our cruise line of choice for that reason only. I feel that after the problems Carnival has had the staff would be much more helpful with our situation. We are writing a formal complaint about this service and would like a complete refund of our on board purchase of two nylon suitcases.

Fun for All. All for Fun!
by Angie N from Minneapolis, MN
Sailing date:
Mar 2013
Pros:
food was excellent. variety of activities
Cons:
weather was cool and the wind was strong...but we can't control that
The Elation was always very clean and well layed out. It wasn't the hugest ship on the market but that's one of the things that appealed to us.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Ship was always very clean. Areas are well marked and easy to get to.
Dining/Food
Dining room was very accomodating when we inquired about changing dining rooms so we could dine with friends.
Stateroom Quality
We didn't spend a lot of time in our rooms. We were there to have fun not sit and look at the walls.
Ship Staff Quality
No matter who you asked for help, the ship's staff was always pleasant, willing to help and got you an immediate answer.
Entertainment & Activities
We did everything we could from dance lessons, workouts in the fabulous gym, towel folding class, comedian shows and my favorite activity was running the soft serve ice cream/yogurt machines!!!

Fantastic Cruise Vacation!
by Lisa S. from Granite City, IL 62040
Sailing date:
Mar 2013
Pros:
Excellent service and staff!
Cons:
Nothing!
Unlike all the problems other Carnival Ships are having right now this ship had no problems that I know of. The ship itself was in excellent condition, very clean, well taken care of while we were aboard. The staff in the dining rooms and room porters were all very nice and would do anything you ask. The food was very good, especially in the dining rooms. Entertainment was amazing. So much to choose from with plenty of time to relax too! Only one complaint..my college aged sons had a cabin together, 3 of them, and I was told the 3rd bed was a trundle bed....needless to say their trundle bed is not big enough for a full grown man...they had to bring in a rollaway, so beware of trundles...they are fine for small children but not for adults.

Good but beware of accepting a cabin with a trundle bed in them. Trundle beds are only good for small children or small adults. Not meant for full grown people.
Ship Staff Quality
Our dining room waiter (one of them) was Leandro--he was fantastic. Our room porter was Felix...also fantastic!

Cruise or Not to Cruise?
by A Traveler from United States
Sailing date:
Jan 2013
Pros:
Ability to try new things
Cons:
Lack of time, being offered a drink every 15 minutes (even in formal dining area)
Clean and spacious cabin Clean Ship Entertaining and friendly staff
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
I expected ship to be bigger but layout made all areas easily accessible. Decor was a little dated but it was very clean.
Dining/Food
Buffet area food was comparable to Ponderosa; frozen taste to pizza and desert stale. Formal dining was better with different options and give you a chance to try new things
Stateroom Quality
Cabins very clean, spacious, and comfortable
Ship Staff Quality
Staff very helpful, friendly, and entertaining. Helped us find our 14 year old daughter who forgot she still had rules to abide by. Thank you.
Entertainment & Activities
Lots of things to do on board just wish entertainment on Lido deck would of continued later. Weather was perfect for raggae music, dancing, and a drink in hand.
Children's Programs
Set ground rules for teenagers, my daughter was bored in the camp and decided to do her own thing. The first night she forgot she still had rules and went off with her friends. Took us and the crew 2-3 hours to find her. Kids 12-14 can leave camp when they feel like it. I don't like that.

by Marty and Jen from St. Louis, mo
Sailing date:

Pros:
The staff was great and food was good
Cons:
Not enough time in port
I wish it just sailed to Cozumel and stays for two days. Progresso Mexico is a dump and you just don't have enough time in port
