Houseguests rather than customers.
by Louis from Elmhurst, NY
Sailing date:

Pros:
The cleanliness and attention to guests needs. The crew and all staff were most eager to assist us in every way.
For our first time we were quited pleased on board and on our port excursions. Credit should be given to all personnel on board for their warm and friendly service, from the cleaning staff to the captain's staff.
Ship Details:
Dining/Food
We dined almost entirely at the buffet style areas and were most satisfied with food and service.

Ship Staff Quality
The housekeeping staff were exceptional, helpful, friendy and efficient.

Peggy's Cove and Lobster lunch tour was better than we expected. We were very fortunate to have the best tour guide on our tour to Peggy's Cove which included a Lobster lunch that was marvelous. The tour guide and his driver were absolutley great. Their historical knowledege intermingled with personal stories an jokes made us wish we did not have to leave. Peggys Cove and its people were marvelous.
Don't Miss:
Peggy's Cove.
Saint John, New Brunswick
St. Johns was a lovley visit. After a tour by bus of the city we roamed by ourselves and with the help of local taxi drivers discovered a warm and friendly port.

by Pam S from Arizona
Sailing date:

Pros:
7 islands in 7 days.....awesome
Cons:
Nothing
We have sailed on Carnival ships before so knew what to expect on this ship. We chose this ship for crusing 7 islands in 7 days and we were not disappointed. Flew into San Juan on the redeye and arrived at 12:30 on departure day. Had no problems getting to the ship or getting on the ship. Many reviews about the duty free shop before boarding the ship and it is all true. You can pick up some beverages and put into carryon bag and get thru without any problems. It was nice to have a drink on our balcony while enjoying the view.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
We always had problems with finding our way around. Never could get that together....always walking the wrong way to our room...Oh well...... The crew was always cleaning everywhere we went.
Dining/Food
We enjoying the dining experince, especially our two waiters...They made us always feel welcome...remembering our names and our likes and dislikes.
Stateroom Quality
Alway kept our room in a neat order and our cooler was always filled each day with ice. Our bed was very comfortable...almost too comfortable....we could never sit on it during the day or else we would fall asleep.
Ship Staff Quality
Overall everyone was great.
Entertainment & Activities
Loved the shows. We also used the jogging track every day. Also participated in the walk for the cure...on the last day. Carnival donates money to the Susan Koman Foundation.

The pubs and Peggy's Cove.
Saint John, New Brunswick
Saint John has all the charm of Schenectady, with a little Utica thrown in. Would rather have had two days in Halifax.

Carnival Victory - Just OK
by A Traveler from Fort Myers/F M, Florida (US)
Sailing date:
May 2009
Pros:
The Staff
Cons:
The Activities
It was just OK; nothing special to write home about. The staff; particularly the Hotel and Restaurant Staff were excellent. The ports of call were somewhat boring and one was even questionable as to why they made the stop (Dominica).
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Not as clean as some other lines like Holland America or Royal Caribbean.
Dining/Food
Food quality was OK and choices fairly good as well.
Stateroom Quality
Whatever you do, don't book a stateroom on the 10th deck (it's right under Camp Carnival and they let the kids run around there all hours of the night); very disruptive to someone who may want to get some sleep.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was great. They were very well versed in their areas and extremely helpful.
Entertainment & Activities
Activities were not really that great; nothing original; your typical pool stuff and bingo.
Children's Programs
Don't even go there! I was not happy with the fact that my stateroom was right under Camp Carnival. Lots of thumping on the floor (which was my ceiling); they did make good for it though so I have to commend them on that. They credited me a portion of my cruise cost for the inconvenience.

St. John's, Antigua
Antigua was OK as well. Nothing special as all of the islands look the same basically.
Don't Miss:
Again, the city tour was good and informative.
Bridgetown, Barbados
Barbados was one of the best ports of call.
Don't Miss:
Don't miss the city tour it was excellent!
Dominica
Don't know why they even call this port. It's very poor country with very little to see or do.
Don't Miss:
Stay on the ship!
Basseterre, St. Kitts
St. Kitts was good! The beaches on 'the nice side of the island' were really very nice! I would highly recommend going to one of the beaches!
Don't Miss:
Beaches!
Castries, St. Lucia
It was OK; a lot of rain in this port but had a morning city tour that was good.
Don't Miss:
Don't miss the city tour; very informative.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
It was OK; I'd been there before so nothing special for me to see plus we had rain that day.
Don't Miss:
Nothing to point out.

Great trip up until the end
by Devon D from Philadelphia, PA
Sailing date:
Jan 2009
Pros:
Plenty of stuff to do
Cons:
Poor disembarking procedures
My husband and I have been on a few other cruises and this was the best one...up until the end. The ship was great with plenty of things to do. There were 3 pools including an adults only pool which was great. The food was good, plenty of variety all hours of the day. The staff was great! Everyone was super nice. The down side, we were instructed to place our luggage outside of our stateroom door the evening before our last day. Carnival provided us tags for every bag. The tag had a detatchable slip for our records. Upon arrival at the cruise terminal, our bag was gone. My issue is, there were about 2500 people on the boat and everyones luggage was just left in the terminal. There was no security to match up the tag on the bag to the ticket I had. The crew assured me someone may have mistakenly taken it and it would be brought back but by living in the real world, most people would not return a bag full of booze and presents. Between the 10 people working in the terminal helping people find their bag, why couldn't they have a few people double checking the tags. I was incredibly impressed up until the end. If you do cruise Carnival, keep your bags with you no matter what they insist.

by A Traveler from Boston, MA
Sailing date:
May 2009
Pros:
LOVED EVERYTHING ABOUT IT
Cons:
NONE !
I was told this is one of the oldest ships of the Carnival fleet and you would of never been able to tell.. This ship is beautiful and it was very clean. The staff, I have nothing but praise for every single person on that ship; they are all so hard-working
Ship Details:

HUGE ship and everthing was very clean and easy to find
Dining/Food
OH MY GOD the food was wonderful..
Stateroom Quality
I was a little skeptic because its the first tiime we brought our kids with us and the room was fine.. We had a king size bed and bunk beds and it was just right for us four.
Ship Staff Quality
We had the best waiter for dinner.. his name was Michael and he made my 6 year old son feel very comfortable; so much so that my son asked me if we could bring him home with us !
Entertainment & Activities
So much to do and so little time
Children's Programs
My son didn't want to leave Camp Carnival when we would go to pick him up so that says alot about the camp..

The stateroom service people need raises
by Scott from Orlando, Florida
Sailing date:
May 2007
Pros:
Mini-golf.
The overall trip was great. It was my first cruise, and everything was above and beyond. The dismbarkment process seemed a bit rushed, and no too friendly. Other than that, I give it a 10!
Ship Details:
Entertainment & Activities
Activities: The mini-golf was a blast, not challenging enough though! Entertainment: One of the fog machines on house left, stage right was down, that needs to be fixed for even coverage of the stage in the Caribbean Lounge area.

San Juan, now I know why you want to come to the US! I wont be sad if I never step foot in Puerto Rico, it wasn't too clean and the people weren't too nice. I def know why they want to all move to the United States.
Charlotte Amalie, St. Thomas, U.S.V.I.
St. Thomas, watch out for the baracudas! This place was really stellar. The scenery, the shopping, the water, the beaches, everything just amazing!
Don't Miss:
Coki Beach.
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
St. Maarten. This place was amazing! The only thing that kinda got old was, the fact that the locals wouldn't stop bothering me with wanting me to buy their stuff. Other than that, it was def Paradise!!!!
Don't Miss:

Great for people who drink/party
by A Traveler from Knoxville, TN
Sailing date:
Jun 2012
The ship itself was pretty nice. It was our first cruise, so we didn't really know what to expect, but we had a nice time overall. The food started out very good but declined in quality over the week. The shows didn't really appeal to us, and the incessant reminders about what was going on each day were annoying, but we enjoyed the comedy shows. The staff, while there may have been a slight language barrier at times, were generally very friendly and helpful. Our biggest complaint was the constant emphasis on dancing/partying/drinking, but we also figured that would be the case after reading several reviews before sailing. In the end, we were able to find quiet spots to relax, read our books, and take in the soothing scenes of the Southern Caribbean. If you enjoy dancing, partying, drinking, or any combination of the three, you'll enjoy the Carnival Victory. It definitely lived up to the "Fun Ship" name they advertised. If you're looking for a quiet, soothing experience while on the ship, you should probably look elsewhere.
