Very disappointed
by Karri K. Fiegelin from Katy, Texas
Sailing date:
Feb 2013
Pros:
the time off the boat on the beach in Cozemel
Cons:
the whole environment and the pushed culture that was created by the director
The ship was old and very dated when we stepped into the elevator when first getting on the boat we saw cigarette butts on th floor and throughout our time we noticed areas that look very dirty. The staff looked busy and espacially the dining area but the hallways, bathrooms, resturants, etc were a mess. The smoking was rediculous and walking from the casino to our dining area was horrible. What a poor layout to have to make non smokers walk through such terrible smoke.

Dining/Food
We enjoyed our staff in the dining room and Henry was wonderful. The nightly dancing from the waitstaff was great! I basically ate appitizers and desserts because the main courses weren't very good. The steak was horrible.
Stateroom Quality
we had a a balcony room and that was nice. we loved the towel animals and they cleaned the room regularly. We just wich is was a bit more updated and there were more tv choices.
Ship Staff Quality
We thought we were getting morte sevice when we signed up.

Was not impressed.
by A Traveler from Omaha NE
Sailing date:
Jan 2012
Pros:
Shore excursion
Cons:
The food was bad and the service.
I was not impressed with the Carnival Triumph. It started off, that we boarded really late. We were suppose to board the ship between 12:30 - 2:30 but wasn't able to board until about 6:30 at night. I understand that we had fog so that wasn't as big of a deal. When we got on the ship we were suppose to be upgraded and we were not. We also were suppose to have 6:15 dinner and when we got on the ship they had scheduled us for the 8:15 dinner. I have been on a few other cruises and the big thing is you always gain at least 10lbs because the food is amazing. With this cruise the food wasn't. In fact, more food was not eaten at our table then was. The entertainment wasn't that great and we talked to many of the workers and they said they didn't like working for the cruise ship. That breaks my heart. I hope that the Triumph makes improvements and fast or they will have issues for sure.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The cruise ship itself was in good condition.
Dining/Food
We were given the wrong dining time and our servers were not happy to be there. They didn't interact with us. The other cruises I have been on the servers were very interactive and really worked to get an amazing tip. We have always adjusted our tip up but this time I felt like adjusting our tip down. The food quality was not good. Over cooked and some didn't even seem fresh.
Stateroom Quality
Our stateroom was small but doable. The decor was fine.
Ship Staff Quality
Everyone we talked to was not happy to be working for carnival. Sad really.
Entertainment & Activities
There wasn't too many activities to do. In fact we were bored.

terrible cruise, one of the worst
by Emily from Michigan , USA
Sailing date:
Aug 2011
Pros:
not much, maybe some of the ports and some of the music in the boat and the paties
Cons:
the boat decor , the losuy design of the boat c, like you have to go to 5 then go down to 3 to reach a certain dining room. The food selection is not good eitheronfusing
I have taken several cruises before with Princess 4 times with Queen Victiria once , with Holland twice , and Royal Carribean once, been to Alaska 2 times to Mediterranean 3 times , Panama Canal one4 , Baltic sea once Cariibean 2 times and first time with Carnival Triumph and certainly poorest and substandard compared with the other cruises I have been. The food is lousy, the steak is tough , all together the selection of food and the taste in either London restaurant or the Lido is poor and substandard compared with my past experience in all the othe boats. The decor is not a nice either nor some of the shows or entertaiments.

Won't do it again
by Sarah G. from Fort Walton Beach Florida
Sailing date:
Jun 2011
Pros:
Food and service were fantastic
Cons:
Way, way, way too many people
The ship was beautiful, and the staff was amazing. They took the time to remember your name and everyone made sure to say hello during the day. It really seemed like they cared how your day was going and how much you were enjoying the cruise. The food was to die for. I could not wait for every meal! You could have as much as you wanted. However, besides the food and the staff, I have never been more bored in my life. I think it would be great for people with young kids or for seniors. The activities provided were not interesting or they were trying to get you to buy something (an excursion or a day at the spa). I spent most of my time in my room avoiding the crowds and the children that were running wild with no supervision. In addition to that, teens were out roaming the halls all hours of the night. They were so loud I didn't sleep well at all. At our first port, it took almost 4 hours to get off of the ship!!! and at the next port it took 45 minutes to get back on. There is not enough time off the ship to really experience the places you go. I was very disappointed. I thought I would be seeing more being able to go to all these countries. Next vacation I will just fly and stay at a resort. The ship was not worth it. Finally, everything on the ship was CRAZY expensive!! $5.00 for a freaking redbull!? come on!

by Artie L from Savannah Ga

Pros:
Comedians, Headwater
Cons:
Everything else
This is an old poorly run ship. Most of the crew were not overly helpful or friendly. The water has a bad taste, The entertainment is not very good, The layout of the ship is terrible (you can't get there from here).
Ship Details:

Old ship sewage smell real bad first 2 days. Balcony was useless. Due to positioning of galley you can't get fron forward to aft on some of the decks.
Dining/Food
Food in main dining room was okay. Not good just okay. The Lido was almost inedible. Service was passible, but not good.

Budget, Not Brilliant
by A Traveler from Bellingham, WA
Sailing date:
Dec 2012
Pros:
Friendly employees
Cons:
Where do I start . . .?
Older, outdated ship. Visible wear & tear all over ship, mauve decor in cabin, dirty with stains, and mold in bathroom. Needs renovation. Windows (throughout ship) rarely cleaned, most very dirty! The food was bad, far from the quality of our other cruise. Service in the main dining was slow. Severe sense of motion entire cruise. Kids clubs inadequate--a 12 y.o. is NOT interested in dances, club only open 1 hour/day for video games. Our 10 y.o. didn't find any activities she liked. Ports of call too short--we had to be back on the ship at 2:30 PM. Then, when the hungry passengers return from excursions, the buffets close just when you need to eat. The entertainment was mediocre at best. Poor layout--forced to walk through smoky casino to get from one end to the other. Or walk, go up/down floors, walk, and up/down again. We thought that all cruises would be as wonderful as our other--but we've nicknamed this one the kmart of cruise ships.

Ship Quality
Dirty, outdated. Forced to walk through smoky casino to get from one end to the other. Visible wear and tear all over.
Dining/Food
Low quality food, slow service, buffets close when you need them most.
Stateroom Quality
Mauve decor, with pink fake-marble sink, tiny pinkish tiles with moldy grout. Beds not most comfy, fairly firm. The size of our stateroom was large, which was nice for a family of 4.
Ship Staff Quality
The ships saving grace--friendly, helpful staff. Our SR steward always greeted us by name.
Entertainment & Activities
Second-rate entertainers, kids club activities poorly planned, not enough activities for 'fun day at sea'.
Children's Programs
Mostly dances offered for 12 year old. He had NO interest! Whenever he wanted to just go play video games--the place was always closed! There weren't any activities that our 10 y.o. was interested in, either. She tried going on a scavenger hunt, but they were sent to find kids who were not signed up for the club as their hunt!

Disappointing!
by AJ from SATX
Sailing date:
May 2012
Pros:
Cozumel
Cons:
The drunks on board!
This was strickly a party cruise ship, they pushed alcohol from the time you got on till the time you left. The drunks dry humping each other in front of everyone was too much. The movies sucked (documentaries of Elvis, really? Go to Redbox Carnival!), the shows were second rate and the clubs were lame. The cruisers were rude and this is not a family cruise, I didn't take my kids and glad I didn't.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Our sheets weren't changed from the previous cruise, we had to call room service. The staff was wonderful.
Dining/Food
Food was average and there was plenty of it but the dining experience was awful, thing mall food court on a Saturday afternoon but free food. So many people and such long lines.
Stateroom Quality
Like I said, sheets were dirty when we arrived.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff was awesome, considering the people they had to put up with.

Cruises are not for us!
by Kristin from Chicago
Sailing date:
Dec 2010
Pros:
The dinner food was great and our waitstaff was wonderful.
Cons:
Were unable to dock at one port. Carnival said it was due to weather conditions; however others reported different cruise lines docking without problem. Bummed and Sea Sick!
Not impressed by this cruise line or ship.

Dining/Food
Stateroom Quality
Although all ship staterooms are small, our bathroom had an unruly odor and tiles were cracked all over the place. Would recommend a newer ship.
Ship Staff Quality
Our waitstaff was fantastic. However; those at guest services and the bars were not very friendly. We waited in line for nearly 20 minutes to ask guest services a question and the woman who answered us acted as if we should have already known. Not courteous to first time cruisers.
Entertainment & Activities
The shows were a joke!
