Pros:

the time off the boat on the beach in Cozemel

Cons:

the whole environment and the pushed culture that was created by the director

The ship was old and very dated when we stepped into the elevator when first getting on the boat we saw cigarette butts on th floor and throughout our time we noticed areas that look very dirty. The staff looked busy and espacially the dining area but the hallways, bathrooms, resturants, etc were a mess. The smoking was rediculous and walking from the casino to our dining area was horrible. What a poor layout to have to make non smokers walk through such terrible smoke.

We enjoyed our staff in the dining room and Henry was wonderful. The nightly dancing from the waitstaff was great! I basically ate appitizers and desserts because the main courses weren't very good. The steak was horrible.

we had a a balcony room and that was nice. we loved the towel animals and they cleaned the room regularly. We just wich is was a bit more updated and there were more tv choices.

Lieing, conniving, corporate management control of information to maximize revenue

The corporate management notified us 24 hours in advance that there were propulsion problems, that the ship could not cruise at full speed and that we would "either go to progresso or cozumel" but not both and offered a full refund. Hoping for Cozumel most people did not cancel. However, immediately after departure, we were notified that we were not going to cozumel. The rationale was that our slow speed would get us in too late to cozumel and we would need to leave too early the next day to be able to have excursions -- i.e. no excursion revenue. On the other hand, 2 full days in Progresso allowed for 2 full days of excursions -- i.e. some excursion revenue. There was no new information after we departed than when the original text went out that caused them to eliminate cozumel. However, the cruise director indicated that if they told everybody they were not going to cozumel, most people would take the refund. I believe they always knew we were not going to cozumel, but didn't give people the info so they could make an informed choice whether to cancel or not. Shady, deceptive practices by corporate management to maximize revenue and reduce customer choice.

I had one of the most expensive staterooms, but only a 1990's 23" tube tv. My neigbor had a nice flat screen. What's up with that?

The ship is an older one in the fleet, but the upkeep is impeccable and it has its own charm and personality. The ships activities were fun and plenty. I just happened to have won $300 in Bingo!! The casino was fun, but slots were tight. I took advantage of the Bella Perlina jewelry sale and was able to buy all the girls a beautiful momento from the cruise! Since, we went with our grown kids and their husbands/wives, we had photos taken on elegant night and they turned out wonderful. I have some beautiful memories, photos, and jewelry. Loved the Cozumel port, and found that disembarking was much improved.

Food was good, and we really enjoyed the "your time" dining feature. I really liked the didja ever, and the comfort food additions to the menu.

The staff was friendly, and willing to help. But needed ice and there was only ice access through the steward. Loved the spa staff!! Miss Nadine was excellent.

Where do I start . . .?

Older, outdated ship. Visible wear & tear all over ship, mauve decor in cabin, dirty with stains, and mold in bathroom. Needs renovation. Windows (throughout ship) rarely cleaned, most very dirty! The food was bad, far from the quality of our other cruise. Service in the main dining was slow. Severe sense of motion entire cruise. Kids clubs inadequate--a 12 y.o. is NOT interested in dances, club only open 1 hour/day for video games. Our 10 y.o. didn't find any activities she liked. Ports of call too short--we had to be back on the ship at 2:30 PM. Then, when the hungry passengers return from excursions, the buffets close just when you need to eat. The entertainment was mediocre at best. Poor layout--forced to walk through smoky casino to get from one end to the other. Or walk, go up/down floors, walk, and up/down again. We thought that all cruises would be as wonderful as our other--but we've nicknamed this one the kmart of cruise ships.

Low quality food, slow service, buffets close when you need them most.

Stateroom Quality

Mauve decor, with pink fake-marble sink, tiny pinkish tiles with moldy grout. Beds not most comfy, fairly firm. The size of our stateroom was large, which was nice for a family of 4.

Ship Staff Quality

The ships saving grace--friendly, helpful staff. Our SR steward always greeted us by name.

Entertainment & Activities

Second-rate entertainers, kids club activities poorly planned, not enough activities for 'fun day at sea'.

Children's Programs

Mostly dances offered for 12 year old. He had NO interest! Whenever he wanted to just go play video games--the place was always closed! There weren't any activities that our 10 y.o. was interested in, either. She tried going on a scavenger hunt, but they were sent to find kids who were not signed up for the club as their hunt!

Clean ship, friendly staff, great food, nicely decorated, great shows. The goal was for the passengers to have a great vacation.

Not so big it took a long time to walk from one end to the other, yet big enough to include lots to do. Wish water fountains or stations were more available.

EXCELLENT food, especially in the dining rooms, but the buffets were also very good.

Stateroom Quality

clean, not as small as I was expecting (we were in the basic, inside room) quiet - we were located in the middle of the boat - less movement and less noise that some locations.

The ship, the food and the off shore excursions

Big waves on the last night and like have a little more information on activities on the ship.

This was my first cruise with my family. We liked it alot. The weather was excellent. The people that cleaned the rooms are extremly nice and that good care of you. The waiters in the dinning rooms and at persons behind the bars are very nice and serve you as fast as they can. They also ask how your day was and how your doing. The people on deck 9 that serve you food do what you ask but are not as nice as the rest on the people on the ship. The state room where we stayed in had a shower that sometimes didn't have a lot of waterpressure and the tiles in the shower were getting loose. Also the bottom of the bathtub was getting loose. We tried to use the jazcusi but I couldn't get it to work. Or room was clean and we had a really nice view on the balcony. Sometimes the room got a little hot or cold because it wasn't easy to control the temperature with the two vents.

The ship is getting older and you can see that it's been repainted. Some of the repainting is done a little rough. Over the whole ship the staff is doing a very good job to keep everything very clean. The inside of the ship is very nice and you can walk for days to see all the areas and decors on the ship.

Dining/Food

Good food on the ship only one time when we went to eat dinner we couldn't get in because we where not properly dressed. We didn't know there was a dress code that evening.

Shower area needs work.

The ship is great, well laid out, very clean with amazing staff. The shows were great and the food was very good although we were all disappointed with the quality of the dinner at Captains dinner.The lobster was small and over cooked and the chefs really need to learn the difference between the different temps when cooking steaks. The buffets, appetizers wait staff were all amazing and attentive. The shows for the most part were top notch, only one gripe and its with the management of the Karaoke program. the young lady is still running her system from CDs and is quite amateurish at best . It's 2012 and all of that should be on hard drives with software controlling the entire program. She did not manage her Q well at all which left many people each night unable to sing. This really ruined the Karaoke experience, a little more training and better equipment would really bring this program to great levels. Please know this is concerning the CD Karaoke NOT the live band Karaoke which was really good. The Ports of Call were great, i would however like to see Progresso taken off and spend two days in Cozumel. Progresso has nothing to offer and Cozumel is simply stunning and unfortunately this was the place where we spent the least amount of time docked. Overall the ship, the staff and the entire cruise was great though. so much so that within 48 hours we already booked next years to the Bahamas on the Fantasy.

Overall very good, but as mentioned earlier...the grill chef needs to learn the differences in steak "doneness" My Med flat iron was often well done...yuck.

Very good, we were on Deck 10, Panorama.

I have no issues with the staff, so very friendly and attentive even though they all work some very very long hours!!!

Entertainment & Activities

As noted earlier very disappointing at the quality of the Karaoke. Bur the shows were great, everything from the "game" shows to the magic and comedy acts. Very very good.

Bed comfortability

This was our first cruise, and we had a blast! The service on the ship was amazing, and never ceased to amaze us. There was an abundance of things to do on the ship to keep us occupied, so we rarely found ourselves without something to do. The food was ok, but overall we were not overly impressed. However, we also know that when feeding that many people 24-7 for 5 days, it would be hard to have a 5 star meal every time. The only complaint that we had was the beds in the rooms. Vacation is exhausting, and we would have enjoyed a good nights sleep, however, the beds were worse than sleeping on a floor. I felt myself unrested and sore throughout my vacation, which was rather displeasing. I only wish that we would have had a better nights sleep, so that we could have enjoyed the rest of our vacation. But overall, Carnival did a great job!

good dining room companions, good food, "the Big Easy" vegas-style show.

Cons:

"a Kiss Goodnight" burlesque show was awful

The ship is getting some age but they maintain it very well. The show lounge is very ornate; dining rooms are well appointed. We didn't experience long lines, except at the late night stand-up comedy club which is VERY popular.

This time we were in a balcony suite and it was great. Previous trip was interior which was not as good, duh.

They are probably required to be nice but it sure seemed genuine. Waiter overheard that we liked the Indian Mango Pickles and brought us a larger serving without being asked.

They have way too much karaoke; I come on a cruise to be entertained by professionals, not by a bunch of bad singers. The "Kiss Goodbye" variety show was the worst I've ever seen.
