  Splendor on the Sea..... by
John and Marilyn from New Smyrna Beach, FL Sailing date: Jan 2009Pros: Nice, newer, large ship; friendly and efficient crews; wonderful get-away Cons: Well....can't really think of any cons. Perhaps that we had to get off the ship? Enjoyed the cruise and the ship. This is our fifth cruise with Carnival and it won't be our last. Triumph was big and beautiful, good layout and traffic plan; 3000 folks onboard, but never seemed crowded. Friendly and efficient staff; Good eats (oink-oink), good entertainment and good time. Carnival has drastically improved the debarktation process since our last voyage three years ago -- off in no time w/o hassle. We always stay in balcony or either of the suites -- this time we stayed in the smaller suite, which was more than roomy enough. The ship was clean -- all week long noticed crews busily washing sea spray off the outside of the windows and balconies, which was very much appreciated.
Carnival always does its best for a safe and enjoyable voyage....ahhh yes, tis the good life. We'll be baaaaack. Ship Quality

  A fabulous cruise by
Milissa and James H from Gladys, VA Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: Space in cabin and nearly soundproof, plenty of eating areas, so many bars, main dining was 5 star Cons: prior notification of embarkation process A beautiful ship, especially for being an older one. So many things to do that you sometimes forget you're on a ship! Lovely dining rooms, access to all areas was fairly easy once you made a few trips around the ship. Ship QualityVery clean and elegant Dining/FoodMain dining rooms were gorgeous and the food was excellent. Wait time was minimal. Stateroom QualityLOVED our stateroom and highly recommend the balcony upgrade! Ship Staff QualityEveryone we encountered was helpful, very friendly and professional. Entertainment & Activities

  Fun in the Sun by
Carol G from St. Louis, MO Sailing date: Oct 2008Pros: The entertainment was above par Cons: The first sleeping room was unacceptable We sailed on the Triumph 10/26-11/02 and the staff was outstanding. Parts of the ship are refurbished and parts are a little worn, but very, very clean. The food in the Paris and London restaurants were very good and always tailored to our needs and cravings. The food poolside (burgers, veggie burgers, hot dogs, and GREAT pizza) was better than any food chain back home.
The night life -- family and adult entertainment made our second cruise feel like as enchanting as our first. The lines are long at times, but the ship is enormous, so you move quickly to the seating areas.
Our first stateroom was noisy and our bed vibrated all night from the engines. When we brought this to the Purser's attention, they gave us top priority and moved us to a quieter area of the ship. This was a make-or-break situation, and they handled it very well. We are most appreciative.
Overall we have to say the ship was quite nice for being a 'Grand Dame' of 10 years! As always, the staff was wonderful -- from the room steward, to the bartenders, to the food staff. Ship Quality

  a poorly run cruise by
Kim B Taylor from atlanta, georgia Sailing date: Apr 2010Pros: food was excellent but not enough!!! Cons: very unfriendly staff, both at check in and on the ship. embarkation folks were great check in folks were rude. Very few signs to tell you what to do. This is a customer based organization -- they should know better! Had some problems with my room charges -- had to make three trips to purser's office to try to get it straightened out -- after four days and last minute they finally took care of it. Also, most folks got back on the ship (after port calls) around 3 - 4. Other than a two-hour wait for sandwhiches or hamurgers, there was nothing else availabe -- no mid-afternoon snacks., etc. They need to have more food availabe at this timje of day!!! And ever since they went to pre-posted tips on the chargecard, service has dropped really rapidly. Again, my husband flies commerical jets for a living and he knows if you are rude to customers, they won't come back!! Ship Quality

  Cruise to Canada by
Lisa J. from Hartford, CT Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: the food Cons: the It was kept very clean. It was somewhat confusing getting to the Paris dining room, Oxford lounge and internet area. You have to walk down deck 5, then take stairs down to these areas. On deck 9, the outside LED screen volume was way too loud, especially at breakfast. We noticed an unpleasant bathroom smell at certain times near the photo pickup area. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodCould not complain about the food at all; very good. We were disappointed in the long lines for lunch on deck 9; we chose different places because of it - either the hotdog/burger line, pizza or chinese. Stateroom QualityClean, large enough for 2, towel animals were cute. Ship Staff QualityAlways a smile and answered our questions. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe shows after dinner were outstanding - live band, excellent singers and dancers. Was annoyed they charged extra if you wanted to participate in an exercise class like pilates and the health seminars were really a sales pitch for detox pills.

Halifax, Nova ScotiaTook tour on a new double decker bus but the speaker system kept cutting out, so we missed information. Should have been longer stop at Peggy's Cove for the price. 1 hour to cove, 1 hour at cove, 1 hour back. Not enough time to see things.
Don't Miss: Peggy's Cove Saint John, New BrunswickThe bus tour was average, but without it, we wouldn't have known what to look for. Saw location of the reversing river, but it was low tide. Guide explained what happens well. She was very pleasant and knew her stuff. Learned history of the area.

  Good First Cruise Experience by
Henry T from New York, NY Sailing date: Jun 2009Pros: The seated food and crew service was very good. Cons: Slightly confusing ship design. When we first arrived, the boarding as orderly and fast. The ship was well maintained and accommodating. We found some design choices of the signs and directions a little confusing and questionable. The signs were quite hard to read (neon lights that glow?) and may not have been the best choice for signage. The other issue was the amount of signs and how the ships flooring design from getting to one part of the ship to another was very odd as you needed to go up and down to go on the same floor. We were not the only confused ones as others had the same issue.
The service and food on the other hand was very good and the people extremely friendly. The Camp Carnival was very good for all kids. There were plenty to do if the weather is good.
St. John was a nice little town and the port excursions were plenty and helpful.
Would recommend again. Ship Quality

what a wonderful vacation /cruise by
A Traveler from plano texas Sailing date: Oct 2009Pros: The tours that were available for us to choose were just wonderful Cons: that the type of cruise we were on-the ship has no heat-the time of year that we took our cruise was very cold in the ship I felt that the time of the year that we took the cruise-you are subject to all types of weather-this ship did not have heat and 3 of the days the weather was 42 degrees and we were offered nothing to make our rooms warmer or in the ship. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food needs to be updated--this was our 8th cruise and it seems to be the same -the quality of food has never been as good as the first cruise that we took. Stateroom Quality
