Yuck, for the most part by
Christine C from Duncan, SC Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: The cruise director was great! Cons: Food was just sub-par The ship is really old and leaving the fleet in two weeks. It shows it's age and it is nothing pretty or beautiful about it at all. No grandness anywhere. The food in the dinning room was just okay and the buffet was even worse. Prepared eggs and pancakes...nothing made fresh for you. The mini suites were nothing short of a standard balcony on Norweign ships. There were very limited hand sanatizers around the ship, and at that, most were empty. Met a couple ladies and will keep in touch, the shows were okay, and the hip will be out of commission long after it should have been. Ship Qualityold....enough said Dining/Foodwarmed over food unless you order in the dinning room and then it is still not much better. I think they had all the steaks pre-cooked. Stateroom QualityVERY small bathroom and no private toilet area as other ships have. Okay size for a standard room but NOT what they called and charged as a mini suite. Ship Staff Qualitymost were very nice. Some clueless. Entertainment & Activitieslots of fun things to do. Children's Programsdaughter hung out at night after dinner in the teen club. She had a great time. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Weekend express getaway by
Monica WB from United States Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: Quick trip with very experienced staff! The food was excellent! Cons: The quality of the entertainment staff was lacking this time! This is an older ship in the fleet and is being retired within a month of our sailing date! Since it's a weekend getaway, the entertainment staff is not as experienced or talented as the larger ships in the fleet. The carpeting showed aging and the outside appeared aged as well. Personally had an incident/accident - falling down a small flight of stairs into the Boleros Lounge injuring the left foot. The Vincent dining room was too crowded. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodMy sister enjoyed every single meal she sampled! She was so impressed that she bought 2 cookbooks! Stateroom QualityOur stateroom's bathroom appeared very dated and used but the rest of our stateroom was fine. A bit congested but we managed. Our staff was exceptional! Loved Donald!
Ship Staff QualityAll the staff we encountered were marvelous! Very attentive and friendly! Made our trip extremely pleasant! Entertainment & ActivitiesVariety wasn't the problem! The cruise director was fantastic & funny! Just didn't really care for the comedian, the jugglers (whom dropped props a few times) and the singers were average. The Dancers didn't do anything difficult either. 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  A Birthday Bonanza by
A Traveler from Durham, NC Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: Great Staff! Cons: Small staterooms What a fun cruise! Sure the staterooms were a litlle small, but that did nothing to lessen the experience. Sorry to see this ship go! Ship QualityOlder ship but maintained very well Dining/FoodYummy food in the dining room, Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityGreat crew! Very fun Entertainment & ActivitiesLots of things to do 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

very happy with the cruise by
lauriec from Manasquan, NJ Sailing date: Feb 2013Pros: fun for our children Cons: the food was average The ship will be out of commission in April, so this review isn't really needed. The ship was a little old but fine for us. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodIn hindsight I would have chose the "my time dining" but it was filled up by the time we got on the boat. We chose the early dinner because we have children but 545pm was way too early to eat. I didn't want to get ready so early. There also wasn't a lot to do after dinner before the later dinner got out. Stateroom QualityThe room was very small but as we expected for an inside room. I don't think we needed a desk in the room and they could have made better use of that space in such a small room. The bathroom was the only relative incovenience; it was really, really small. Ship Staff QualityEvery single person we met that worked on the ship was friendly!! Everywhere you went people said, "hello" and were smiling. Entertainment & ActivitiesThings didn't pick up until the later dinner got out. Although the kids' Adventure Ocean allowed children to stay there until 2:00am we didn't want the kids out so late. I wish there were activities earlier for parents that have little kids that had to do the early dinner and like to hang out. Children's ProgramsAbsolutely amazing!! I can't say enough good things about this program and the staff! IT's amazing my son was with us at all. :) 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

  Cruise personal lacking friendliness. by
Jean A from Jensen Beach, Florida Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: The couple wo sat with us during dinner. Cons: The shore excursion on the glass bottom boat. Rip off. Also coming back on the tender from Coco Cay. Dangerous. The Monarch is leaving in April and seemed the staff could care less how they treated you. Our young man who attended our cabin was the only one who was cheerful and so helpful. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodFood service very slow. No follow up if you wanted anything else. Stateroom QualityTo small Ship Staff QualityNot friendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe jugglar and his wife were excellent. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Great time by
Danny H from Wilmington, NC Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: Service and food Cons: Room size Overall, the ship was impressive. Upon entering through the centrum, you feel as if you are in a five-star hotel. You are greeted by friendly staff. However, I was not given directions to any of the amenities on the ship or to where my room was located. After locating our room, we were slightly dissapointed at the size of the room itself and the bathroom. Our room attendant immediately found us and introduced himself. He was excellent. There are many bars/lounges to stop for a drink or to just relax and enjoy some entertainment. The Viking Crown lounge provided a great view of the ship and of the ocean. Dinner each night was excellent and was provided with excellent service. The ship is being retired in April, so if you are looking for an affordable Royal Caribbean cruise, this is it. Ship Quality

  5 star quality! by
Chris H. from Toronto, ON Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: Activities, food, service Cons: Nothing The ship was amazing. Very clean, nicely decorated, great attention to detail. Hotel on water! Ship QualityI've been on a larger ship and honestly did not feel a size difference. Dining/FoodFood was excellent. The dinners where fantastic! The breakfasts and lunches were great. A lot of diversity in food, so everybody would be happy. Stateroom QualityWe were four in an oceanview stateroom, and there was no issue with space. If you spent the whole trip in the stateroom, you might feel a bit suffocated, but you'd also be wasting your money! Ship Staff QualityCan't say enough good things about the staff. Believe me when I say they go out of their way to make sure you are well attended to. We wanted for nothing! Entertainment & ActivitiesTons of diversity. Rock wall, pool, hot tub, dining, shows, dancing, music lounge and bar, cigar room, clubbing, gym and exercise center (with trainer), spa... need I say more?? 0 out of 0 people found this review helpful.

Sullivan from Atlanta, GA Sailing date: Jan 2013Pros: Service was fantastic, food at dinner superb Cons: Shows were weak, and there weren't as many activities as other ships. Did not seem like the oldest ship in the fleet. All very well maintained. Two pools, two hot tubs, plenty of places to relax. The buffet was ok but food at dinner was great. Ship Quality

A Traveler from Gilbert, AZ Sailing date: Dec 2012Pros: The Entertainment Cons: The Food The ship is very outdated. There were a lot of strange smells and cleanliness issues. Ship Quality
Dining/FoodThe food was TERRIBLE. I couldn't wait to get off the ship to have a decent meal. Stateroom QualityThe bed was hard as a rock. Ship Staff QualityWe received horrible service from the dining room staff on this ship. Very unhelpful and unfriendly. Entertainment & ActivitiesFabulous entertainment, fabulous spa services. 0 out of 2 people found this review helpful.
