My only Royal Caribbean disappointment by
A Traveler from Jacksonville, FL Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Very warm and friendly staff Cons: Not the typical Royal Caribbean food. This cruise offered VERY limited choices. The only options were sub par. NOT AT ALL the usual Ryal Caribbean experience:( I am a HUGE fan of Royal Caribbean. For me, they have always been the best and only way to go. This was on the smaller class of ships and did not make a good impression on the 2 first time cruisers I brought with me. Our stateroom toilet was out of order the entire trip. Someone came out multiple times to try and repair it to no avail. The food selection was non existent. The buffet had very limited hours. Not much to do on this ship in the way of activities. The onboard stores were rarely opened. The staff was the one saving grace who, as usual were amazing. Ship QualityAfter this disappointment, I will stick with the larger and newer classes only. Dining/FoodNo variety, HORRIBLE quality. ALL the lettuce was brown for the entire cruise. The bread was stale every day. Even the pizza tasted like cardboard covered in sauce and cheese. Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff QualityThe entire staff was incredible and really lived up to the Royal experience I have come to expect. Entertainment & ActivitiesJust not much to do on this boat. Children's ProgramsAn email sent to me a few months ago talked about a new Royal babies and tots program. They were supposed to offer babysitting for a fee of $8 per hour for children under age 3. Once I inquired onboard I was told the fee was $19 per hour with a 2 hour minimum, at a time that they could pencil you in. I was told it would be with 2 staff members in MY STATEROOM!?! No thank you! 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Great Cruise by
Stephen C. from Atlanta, GA Sailing date: Sep 2012Pros: Great Food, Service and Entertainment Cons: Late Night Buffet We had a great trip on the Monarch of the Seas. The ship is old and small but was great for a short 4 night cruise. They kept the ship very clean and the staff was awesome, we didn't have a bad service experience the whole trip. If you just want a relaxing trip to lounge by the pool and enjoy the port stops, you will like this ship. If you are looking for a ton of activities on the ship, you might need to look at one of the newer ships. For the price this was an incredible deal. Ship QualityThe ship was very clean for such an old ship. Perfect ship for a short 4 night cruise. Dining/FoodFood in the main dining room was great. The buffet was pretty good. The late night buffet was not very good. Stateroom QualityThe room was small, but it was clean and we were only there to sleep and get ready for dinner. Ship Staff QualityGreat experience with the staff. Didn't have a bad service experience. Entertainment & ActivitiesThe cruise director was great. They had a juggler from America's Got Talent who was awesome. The singing and dancing shows were a little cheesy. 3 out of 3 people found this review helpful.

  Never again by
Always traveling from Las Vegas, NV Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: The bedding Cons: Everything My family and I went on this cruise ship and there was absolutely nothing to do. The kids did not have any activities that they could get into, the buffet was closed most of the time, and there weren't any shows. The pool was small and closed for part of the trip and there was not anything else to do on the cruise ship. The weather was poor when we went, so the outer deck was actually closed, so the only thing left to do was sit in the room because the buffet was closed also. I will never cruise on this cruiseline again. Horrible time. Ship QualityElevators were extremely slow. Dining/FoodBuffet was closed most of the time. Pizza was offered as an alternative, but the oven kept breaking down. Stateroom QualityShower was TINY!!! We are smaller sized people and there was barely room to turn around. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesNothing to do. Children's ProgramsThere weren't any. 1 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

Disappointing to say the Least by
A Traveler from Tampa, FL Sailing date: Aug 2012Pros: Coco Cay Cons: Rooms were dirty, persistent misinformation, damaged luggage, rude staff Welcome aboard lunch ... we felt like cattle being hearded into a corral, no place to sit, long lines. Room was dirty, bed sloppily made, showed age, some of the staff needs to get out of the hospitality business or learn their products better, our luggage was damaged and they haphazardly repaired, teen guide late for excursions and had no clue what the process was, incorrect information provided for departure. Ship QualityOld ship badly in need of refurbishment. Smelled of stale smoke. Dining/FoodMain dining was actually good. Staff was great. The buffets had cold food, lack of seating. Stateroom Quality

Ready to plan the next trip! by
A Traveler from Jacksonville, FL Sailing date: Aug 2012Pros: Food, Entertainment, Ports, Sun! This was my first cruise since I was a child. The staff couldn't have bee more helpful; the entertainment was amazing, and the endless supply of food was worth every penny of this trip. The trip was planned in the middle of summer so there were a lot of children on board, but they had their own entertainment and activities to enjoy. Ship Quality

  Wonderful cruise! by
Heather W from Ringgold, Ga Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: Lots of great shows and things to do! Cruiise director Mark is fabulous. Cons: Rooms are TINY! Very misleading on the website pics! This was my first cruise. It was a great first cruise! The only thing I did not like was that the rooms were very very small. On the website pics they looked like a decent size, like you would have room to move in them. Instead it was smaller than an RV. The shows and cruise director were great. Ship Quality

  Our First Cruise by
Keryn A. from Beltsville, MD Sailing date: Jun 2012Pros: The variety of activities for all age Cons: The first night, we walked up to the dance floor of the Boleros Lounge and the speakers' volume was too loud (for me). My ear drums felt swollen shortly after and stayed like that for two days. The ship was clean, tidy and well lit. The ship diagrams on each level were helpful too. The Centrium and stair ways sparkled and were a good photo taking place. Ship QualityWe used several washrooms around the ship and they were always clean. I especially liked that they had hand sanitizers in several places. Dining/FoodThe variety of food served on buffets and on the restaurant menus were more than enough for our family of five. We especially liked the variety of fruits and vegetables. Also, we liked that in addition to water, we could get lemonade/fruit punch, and unsweetened iced tea.
The only disappointment was the ice-cream (both self-serve and waiter served from scoop one night). It was always an icy type of ice-cream, not creamy like we get at McD's or grocery store. Stateroom QualityCondition was clean. Well lit, ample towels and hangers.
The TV remote needed new batteries. Ship Staff QualityAll good experiences with staff. Our restaurant waiter gave our table of 11 "brain teasers" to solve each night which we all enjoyed. Our room attendant made towel animals for us which were a nice surprise. Entertainment & ActivitiesWe liked the dance instruction; we learned Salsa for the first time. We also liked the games like "Where in the World am I?". Children's ProgramsOur three teenage boys liked the basketball area, table tennis, and pool party. They didn't participate in the kid's club activities. 4 out of 4 people found this review helpful.
