A Great Crew but a Failing Ship
by Robert T from Chicago, Illinois
Sailing date:
Sep 2009
Pros:
The itinerary taking us to Naples, Athens, Mykonos, Rhodes, Ephesus, Alexandria, and Corfu
Cons:
Poor Internet Service, noisy Plumbling Repairs in rooms occupied by passengers, smells in the corridor of sewerage, blackouts for no notification, resulting in the loss of typed work I was going to send out as an E-Mail, insufficient washrooms onboard.
The ship either needs a complete overhaul or else it needs to be retired. The design is dated, with insufficient washrooms in places where you would expect to find them: outside the main theater, outside the main dirining room. There was nosy replacement of pipes going on during the day, unexplained blackouts, the smell of sewerage in some corridors, and poor internet service. While the crew was hard working, courteous, and helpful, the ship is a looser.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship looks good from the outside, but is showing its age. The pipes are in need of repair. Internet service is terrible. Corridors smeel of sewer gas. There is a decided lack of washrooms. The public areas are too small to accomodate the number of people on board. While the ship is clean and the crew are trying hard to make it look goood, they cannot overcome the shortcomings of this vessel.
Dining/Food
The food and service was excellent. The waiters and chefs were fantastic. They exceeded my expectations. First class work here.
Stateroom Quality
Exaclty what I have come to expect from Royal Caribbean.
Ship Staff Quality
The ship staff are hard working, friendly, helpful, courteous professionals.
Entertainment & Activities
Enterainment was uneven. Why have Argentinian gauchos on the first night, when you just left the port of Rome and were heading to Naples. Were all the Italians unavailable to entertain or is Royal Carribean just cheap in not being willing to hire local entertainers? I think Royal Caribbean is cheap in the entertainment category.
Children's Programs
I heard good comments about the children's programs. Parents and kids seemed to be very satisfied by these offerings.

Italian Cruise
by Debbi M from Colorado Springs
Sailing date:
Sep 2009
Pros:
Italy and seeing so much of the country while we were cruising
Cons:
The choice of wine on the cruise ship, no Italian wine.
The ship was smaller than we were used to but it did have everything we wanted. The staff were friendly and worked hard to make our vacation perfect. Cruising around Italy was wonderful and allowed us to see different regions. All of the excursions were great fun and allowed us to personalize our cruise.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
While the food was good there was no wow factor. This was not fine dining like we have expereinced on other cruise lines.
Stateroom Quality
Small but comfortable.
Ship Staff Quality
Staff made this cruise an excellent experience.
Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment was lacking during the days at seas. Bingo and art auctions are not for everyone

Horrible. This was the worst cruise.
by A Traveler from East Grand Rapids, MI
Sailing date:
Jun 2009
Pros:
Italy was beautiful
Cons:
The cruise accomodations and the food.
We traveled to Italy on the Legand of the Seas. My husband suffered from food poisoning. We sent our clothes out to be laundered and the laundry lost our clothes for two days. When the clothes were returned, they were ruined ! (I believe they kept our clothes trying to fix the error and made it worse. I called Royal Carribean to be reimbursed and to date, I have not received the promised "form". Guess what people, it was charged for my husband suffering from food poisoning!! We were also told we would receive a "form" to be reimburesed for that. We have not receive the illusive "forms" to date. The ship's doctor told me to make sure my husband ate applesause and bland food. When I asked a staff member to provide applesauce, he told me "no, only at breakfast". -So, my husband had to suffer and not eat anything because the staff refused to provide food for him. We took pictures of the vacuum that sat outside our cabin door or my brother-in-law and sister's cabin door! There were dirty rags sitting on the counter when we returned from breakfast! Our rooms were not made up when we boarded, so we went to the Windjammer so our rooms could be prepared. The only saving grace is that we were allowed to go off the ship. Get this, our plumbing in our room overflowed three times while were were in the room. Our shower overflowed our first day on the ship with this brackish water swirling around our feet! Our toilet had -yep, you guessed it, floating to the top edge of the toilet when we lifted the lid. We called maintenance right away.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Small ship. The condition of the bathroom on the third floor was always dirty. There were paper towels on the floor and toilet paper. The toilet did not flush in one of the bathrooms. Obviously it was not very clean.
Dining/Food
The dining room was very nice. The seating was very nice. The tableware was very nice. The food was horrible.
Stateroom Quality
Our room did not have a refrigerator, which I was very surprised for what we paid for the cruise. The size was good for two people and overall comfort was okay. The condition was a little worn, but we were not in our room very much. Staff member was not much on the ball with cleaning the room. The vacuum sat outside our cabin door or my sister's cabin door every day.
Ship Staff Quality
Ship staff in the Windjammer was very unwilling to help us when my husband suffered from food poisoning. He was left to suffer without anything to eat.
Entertainment & Activities
The ship's entertainment was great.

Ports of Call:
Dubrovnik, Croatia
There was not much to see. It is just a shopping area really.
Livorno (Florence & Pisa), Italy
Words cannot discribe how beautiful the history, etc is in Pisa and Florence. It is truly magnificent.
Naples, Italy
Beautiful. You really have to go to Italy. Especially Rome to see the Spanish Steps, the Vatican, etc.
Portofino, Italy
This is the most scenic area. It is like walking in a puzzle. There are no words to describe its beauty.
Don't Miss:
Don't miss the whole area. If you can see Portofino, I would recommend it.
Messina, Sicily
Very scenic. Words cannot describe all the beauty or history.
Venice, Italy
Beautiful and scenic.

Children out of control: Too many childr
by Chuck from San Francisco, CA
Sailing date:
Aug 2007
Pros:
Stability at sea.
We enjoyed our dining room table friends and the ports of call, very much. Otherwise, shipboard experince was the worst of the several cruises that I've been aboard. I'll not plan to sail on RCI again.
Ship Details:
Dining/Food
Food and service were very marginal, never excelling and sometimes poor. Management was very accomodating when table change was requested.
Stateroom Quality
Adequate and comfortable.
Ship Staff Quality
Great variation in quality among service/staff members, not consistently good or bad.

Cruise to Carribeans.
by Virginia from Mauston, WI
Sailing date:
Mar 2007
Pros:
The solarium and buffet dining.
The rooms were clean. Most of the service was very good especially in the buffet dining area. We did have some problems with the person provided for our room service. They either forgot to leave fresh towels or did not complete the task in room. We did not like the times for the evening meal. It was 6:30PM or later. Most of the shows were also to late in the evening. We would not book a cruise again during spring break as we felt it was geared more toward the young. The pool for adults was so cold that you could not get in and enjoy it. Most shows were to late in the evening.

Good and so-so.
by Jim from Illinois, USA
Sailing date:
Feb 2007
The cruise was our first and we enjoyed it. Some of the excursions were not very appealing. The tour of Belize City was somewhat depressing. We determined that the cruise was a great way to 'sample' different vacation destinations and subsequent vacations would be directly to our favorite spots (Grand Cayman, Cancun).
