Great Staff, Enjoyable Cruise
by Shayla W from Hoensbroek, Netherlands
Sailing date:
Oct 2011
Pros:
The friendliness of the staff
Cons:
The age of the cabins
The price we paid for a Transatlantic cruise was a bargain. The staff made up for the ship's age and lack of ammenities. Overall, our two weeks aboard the ship moved rapidly. We ddin't want to leave!

Beautiful beaches. Forego the temptation to pay exorbitant prices for transportation as the public bus station is very close to the port and many gorgeous beaches are easily accesible from there.
Bridgetown, Barbados
Philipsburg, St. Maarten
We rented a car which was a huge help in exploring the island's multiple facets. But there is a good beach within walking distance of the port.
Tenerife, Canary Islands

Our First Cruise
by Jill S from Indiana
Sailing date:
Sep 2010
Pros:
This was our first cruise and we enjoyed it more than we expected. It was the most relaxing vacation we had been on in a long time.
I liked the size of this ship. It was just right not too big not too small. The ship was always in good order and very well kept.

Dining/Food
The only thing I will mention concerning dining was the bowls and plates that were used at the buffet. They were not as cleaned as I would like. I would go through 3 or 4 to find an acceptable one.

Ship Staff Quality
The staff on this ship were above and beyond!

Dowtown Cozumel has gotten way too touristy...filled with shops all selling the same cheap things; margaritas were watered down; the food was "Americanized" and expensive. Best to take an excursion (as I've done before) to the ruins, or beaches, canoeing...anything out of town.
George Town, Grand Cayman
The Island tour was very interesting and our guide was very entertaining.
Don't Miss:
Turtle farm, Tortuga rum factory, Hell.

Expected More...
by Betsye M from Sebring, FL
Sailing date:
Aug 2010
Pros:
Dining and Stateroom staff were wonderful!
Cons:
Lack of
For the age of the ship, Grandeur of the Seas, it was in very good condition. It was very clean in all public areas as well as our stateroom. The food in the dining room was good most of the time and our waiter... well lets just say I'd have loved to bring him home with me. He was wonderufl (Gabriel) - Never missed a step! The lunch Salad Bar in the Dining Room was awesome. The food in the Windjammer (buffet) was very good, as well, but the layout realy should be approachable from all side - as the lines were way too long during lunch. The Solarium (Adult area) was very nice although the pools in both areas were quite small and way over crowded.... And the there were too many "saved" chairs - The rule was not enforced. Our stateroom was very nice and clean and was a good size (large oceanview) with lots of stroage area. Our room attendant was wonderful as well. As for ship activites.... There was a Lack of "real" activities other than seminars for you to spend more money using the ship servies: ie - Casino, Shops, and Spa. Although the Adult nightly entertainment was very good. We were celebrating our 20th Anniversary and although this may sound like a lot of cons - we had a wwonderful time and met some great people.

The market area. Lots of haggling to be done and some great authentic food can be found there. The market area doesn't look like much, but it was a fun time. Also the liquor stores and some bars offer abundant Tequila tasting.
George Town, Grand Cayman
The island is beautiful but a bit pricey. Our dollar is worth less there and food is quite expensive... 1 beer, 1 cocktail, 2 appetizers = $43 before tip.
Don't Miss:
We did the Shipwreck Snuba Excursion and it was absolutely awesome. The staff at Snuba Cayman was great and it felt like we were on a "private" excursion.

Cons:
ship a bit rundown, tiny shower, beds kinds of comfy
the ship is a bit rundwon but it didnt affect the quality of the trip. food was excelllent. tiny shower with shower heads that didnt stay in position. beds that are twins and pushed together make a crack in the center. that isnt their fault but it is not comfortable. tiny 13 in tvs but how long are u really in the room anyway.

Faded Beauty
by Geraldine J. from Southfield, MI
Sailing date:
Jul 2010
Pros:
excellent service
Cons:
ship a little shabby and in dire need of a facelift for the staterooms
This was a fun short cruise. Many options were available for entertainment. The service and quality of food was above average in the dining venues. Major complaint is that the ship is old and a bit shabby, staterooms really need some updating.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
While the public ares and staterooms were clean and pleasant but outdated
Dining/Food
The food was good in both the casual and formal dining areas. However, the kitchen seemed to be slow in getting meals prepared in a timely fashion. Dinner in the formal rooms was a two hour affair, often with a wait of up to an hour for main courses to appear. The service provided by the waitstaff was excellent, however
Stateroom Quality
The staterooms were very small and outdated, the furniture appeared obviously worn. Television had a 13 inch screen. The bathroom was tiny with mold on the shower curtains and stains and discoloration on the walls and floor.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff for the most part was very friendly courteous and gracious. The service was truly excellent
Entertainment & Activities
Many activities were scheduled daily, and most were well organized and presented. The entertainment staff was very good.

Great again
by John from Nashville, TN
Sailing date:
Jun 2010
Pros:
I didn't have to do a thing. They do everything.
Cons:
Maybe a little longer at ports.- so I could shop more.
Well, this was our 2nd time on the ship. We went back in March. This time seem better for me because even in the Carribbean in March it was alittle cold for me. This trip was never cold. Loved it. The crew was different. Our wait staff was the best. They called us by name each night. Our room attendant called us by name each time he saw us. Everyone was friendly. Clean ship. Great trip again!

Great cruise
by Anthony M. from North carolina
Sailing date:
Jun 2010
Pros:
Everything
Cons:
No smoking should be allowed anywhere on the ship
Age 41 wife age 44 frist cruise. This is a great cruise & great food. My wife & I both gained weight from all the food. Ship has a ok fitness room. My wife & I both workout 5 days week but only worked one day on the cruise We were not ready to come home at the end of the cruise. There are alot of bad reviews about this ship. They are not true. Some talk about smells in the hall this was not true. some talk about the ship has aged. (not true). This ship is well kept up. After seeing some of the reviews I started to try another cruise liner. Take this cruise I think you will enjoy it.
