At buffets almost everyday same foods 1st time we sailed on the Enchantment of the sea ,Everything is ok not great. The foods is not very good. Ship Details: Ship Quality Dining/Food We sailed on the Enchantment of the sea on june16-25-2011.The ship is ok.But the lunch and dinner on the buffet almost everyday is the same foods, the cooks to must curry. When I went ahead and read some of the not so nice reports written by cruises with Young children. Hmmm, you must have been on my ship not enough activities for YOUR children.. Maybe yours were the ones that ran through the ship screaming, and got on the elevators and pushed all the buttons and then jumped off.. Maybe yours were the ones that were up in the windjammer unsupervised taking more food than three people could eat and then just leaving it. Or just maybe yours was the THREE year old out on the dance floor in everyones way at 2 AM there ARE Cruise lines that cater to YOUNG children, Royal Caribbean does it s best to and has many activities for children, BUT if you want on one of their ships with Your Young children please take advantage of the ships activities and treat them like CHILDREN not little adults or maybe just leave then HOME !!! Overall Rating: About the Reviewer: Age: 30 - 49 Cruise Experience: First cruise Traveler Type: Family w/young children Stateroom Type: Suite Cruise, not a family friendly boat, by A Traveler from Newark Sailing date: Apr 2012 Pros: suite with balcony and friendliness of staff on board the ship Cons: lack of family friendly activties The Cruise was nice and relaxing, but besides the kids club and the arcade, there was nothing for kids to do when it was rainy or windy. And we had two full cruising days on the boat with bad weather. The indoor pool was for adults only. They should have allowed the kids to use it in bad weather for designated hours. I have heard larger ships have more activities and areas for kids, just be aware.There was plenty for adults to do at all times. But the average age on our cruise was probably 65 years old. Ship Details: Ship Quality Dining/Food The soups and salads were excellent, but any seafood dishes had very small portions of seafood with a lot of other filler foods on the plate. For instance the scallops in pasta were so small they were almost pea sized and there was only about 6 of them in a large bowl of pasta. Stateroom Quality Ship Staff Quality Entertainment & Activities need more family activities, not just bingo and casino tournaments and dance parties Children's Programs The kids club was excellent but only a tiny area of the ship. My son got bored there after only an hour, each time he was there. There is only so much you can do in a small room for each age group. I can't imagine if there was a lot of kids. this cruise there was only 20. The week before they had 400 and 800 kids the week before that. We had sailed Carnival before and it was superior to the Enchantment of the Seas. Ship Details: Ship Quality The ship was clean but aging. Dining/Food There were a lot of choices in the food but the flavor was truly bland. Service was nice in the dining rooms but room service took 45 minutes or more. Stateroom Quality Rooms were okay. There was no water in the bathroom one night and a lot a banging going on. Ship Staff Quality Staff was excellent. Entertainment & Activities I thought the entertainment was overall not great. There were many nights of vulgar comedians such as John Joseph. These type of comedians should be listed as adult only. I expected Madagascar themed entertainment but that is false advertisement for only one ship. Children's Programs The kids just played games. They are polite, helpful and always aim to please. The entertainment is not so great. The dancers and singers are below average. The food is great and the overall condition of the ship is good and clean. Cons: Be ready to spend, spend, spend! Loved our cabin, on board entertainment, staff esp. cabin/stateroom crew. Would have liked more relaxation time with my husband but that was hard with a 3 and 8 year old. Found some of the "hidden" costs, for instance kids had pop package and assumed that included pop in the stateroom-it did not!-VERY EXPENSIVE! Staying connected on board was extremely expensive-Recommend buying international package from Verizon. Spa Hot Stone Massage was fabulous by Jenn, she's Irish. Highly recommend. Excursions were alright, but docking times severly cut into sun and fun time esp. during winter months when sun goes down early. Ship Details: Ship Quality Food was great, drinks were strong and not too unreasonably priced! BEWARE of stateroom beverages! They cost a fortune and ARE NOT FREE! Dining/Food Food was great. Didnt realize till the last day that I could eat more than one offering at the formal dinners though! Take advantage of this during lobster formal night! The lobster was some of the best Ive ever had! Stateroom Quality Kids loved the drop down bunks, and towel animals. I loved the bed and linens but hurt my husband's bad back. Ship Staff Quality Our stateroom attend, IVAN, was fabulous as were the other two stateroom attendants in the corridor, Lamar, and Pardeem. Our Head Waiter, Sherry was genuinely kind and accommodating. Front desk was very helpful. No complaints about anyone associated with Royal Caribbean's employees the went above and beyond. Entertainment & Activities There were a ton of activities to participate in and they were all optional. Cruise director and his assistant were funny and we loved the on board television show they did. we also liked the pictures they took all the time and should have taken more advantage of those opportunities. Children's Programs My older son, 8 yrs old, loved the activities and had a great time. My only complaint was that they would not take my younger son, who just turned 3 yrs, and was not fully potty trained for activities without either myself or husband. This really added to this not being a very relaxing vacation for him and I. If there had been some program that could take him, even for 1-2 hrs, that would provided us with some down time. It would have made the vacation a total success. Babysitting was available but it cost additional money and we found it difficult to arrange d/t availability of staff. Overall the Cruise was very good (watch out for the Cayman tours...) Since first day, water never changed in pool... Pool was dirty. Also some cruises lines (Carnival) replaced water in pool and cleaned pool every day. Enchantment of the Seas is not. Water in the pool not from ocean or from Caribbean Sea Also not enough shower cabins, wich is located close to the pool. I think this very important.
