Good Value

Pros:
The Price and Port of Calls
Cons:
the food is very salty, got better the last 2 nights
If you're looking for a bargain then this is a good match. The ship is average, compared to what we've been in the past but we're quite happy because of the price, 10 days, ocean view room for $1500/pp/tips included. In addition, it's very convenience, SF round trip i.e. no flying needed.

nice ambiance, dining room staff go the extra miles to accommodate customer's need.
Stateroom Quality
Larger stateroom than our previous rooms with other cruise lines. Clean, good location, pleasant decor. In addition to this our steward is exceptional.

Excellent Value

Pros:
Smaller Ship, Excellent Food, Outdoor Movies
Cons:
Most staff memebrs were very friendly.. However several visably unhappy
I would recommend this ship. Being a smaller ship, the cabins were smaller than previous ships we've been on. Dining room staff was excellent, food was excellent, and are cabin steward was excellent. Now for the bad news. Pursers Desk personnal and belive it or not some of the cruise director staff appeared to be totally disintrested in there jobs.

Princess is AWFUL!

Cons:
Customer Service on Princess
Customer service on Princess was the worst I have ever experienced from any hospitality company. We were locked out of our cabin for 3 hours on the first day because the lock on the door broke. All of our 8-month-olds supplies (diapers, formula, etc) were in the cabin! After several trips up and down the 6 flights (elevators are always busy the first day), we finally got the second-in-command of reception. He told us we would be given a 15% of our total bill daily credit. When we actually settled up at the end of the cruise, it was only a one-day 15% credit ($43). To top things off, Princess broke one of our suitcases and have made at least 4 hoops we have to jump through to get any compensation. We are still in the process of dealing with their corporate offices. Clearly Princess' mode of operation is do whatever it takes to stall or put the customer off and hope the customer finally decides it isn't worth it. I WILL NEVER SAIL ON PRINCESS AGAIN, AND IF YOU KNOW WHAT IS GOOD FOR YOU, YOU WON'T EITHER! Pay the extra money and go on Royal Caribbean or Norwegian.

Stateroom Quality
The lone bright spot of this trip was the size of the stateroom. Plenty of room for the baby's crib. I'd rather be cramped with good service, though.

PrincessCruise San Francisco to Alaska.
by Jim B from Antioch, CA
Sailing date:
Jul 2009
Pros:
The weather in every port was beautiful.
Cons:
Cabin was right above bar. Music shook the cabin until 12:30 am every night. The staff was unable to help. I complained every night. The night manager even came to my room to hear this noise only to say how embarrassed he was. We were told that he could move us until 12:00 midnight.

The night manager even came to my room to hear this noise only to say how embarrassed he was. We were told that he could move us until 12:00 midnight. What kind of solution was that. The food was awful. This was my eighth cruise and by far the food on this ship, the service on this ship was the worst. If this is the way of the crusie then they are certainly not the wa they were a few years ago!

Nothing to do! The ship is in port way too long. Could have better used the time in Ketchikan.
Juneau, Alaska
Ketchikan, Alaska
Weather was absolutely beautiful. I have been there before and it was rainy. Not this time. It was sunny and about 78 degrees.
Victoria, British Columbia
Would have been nice to spend more time here. Too much time was spent in Haines.
