wonderful family cruise
by Jill P from Indianapolis
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
crew! Cabin stewerds, waiters, musicians all wonderful!
Cons:
the bathrooms seemed far away from restaurants and pools. elevators are hot.
This is a large ship so it is a bit difficult to find your away around quickly. The crew was fantastic! The cabin stewards and restaurant waiters were first rate! The quality of the musicians on board was such a bonus. The food was delicious.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Wish the public bathrooms were a bit bigger and nearer to the pools. Familiarize yourself with the layout before embarking on the ship. Very clean and lovely in every way.
Dining/Food
The dinner staff bent over backwards to help us with selections for our child with severe food allergies. The food was delicious with lots of different options. The restaurant with the upcharge was worth every penny.
Stateroom Quality
Perfect stateroom size with lovely balcony. Cabin stewards were exceptional.
Ship Staff Quality
Cabin stewards exceptional, waiters were too! Everyone was nice with out exception! Valentino went above and beyond in Boticelli's every night! The Brazilian lady who taught line dancing totally added to our trip!
Entertainment & Activities
wow- do you know how to have exceptional musicians! The string quartet was great! The pianists and dance bands were great too! I wish you had more opportunities for my single mom to find a dance partner though!

Boat/bus excursion.

Not so good. Get the feeling of "give me your dollars and go back to your ship". Smiley but not friendly. Has not improved since the last time I was there, 4 years ago. Will try to avoid it in the future.
Majahual, Mexico
Is OK. Man made place.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras
Great beach. Snorkeling is worth trying.
Don't Miss:
Rest by the beach.

The countryside is littered with trash and the people are diffident in the stall shops. The Zip line jungle adventure was great but too short.
Don't Miss:
The ziplines and jungle bike ride.
Majahual, Mexico
A perfect beach! We enjoyed the Kayak adventure.
Don't Miss:
The Bike Rides.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras
Roatan is a gem. We were sad to leave.
Don't Miss:
The Botanical Gardens.

Cozumel is awesome!

Paradise Beach is free and there are plenty of activities that are well priced. You pay $9.00 and you can snorkel by the beach, kayak and jump on the water tramoline and climb the blowup iceberg out i

Too many locals that crowd you and try to get you to take tours. It was overwhelming! The local children also try to walk with you and get you to give them money.

Excursion through the cruise line. Go through the cruise line at this port. Belize is a soft port so the ship cannot get close to the shore. This means a water taxi has to take you on a 20 min boat ride to Belize City. Once there there is not much to do and the locals will mob you trying to get you on one of their excursions. By the time you choose one, you have to get on another boat and go 45mins to your final distination. Also, going through a local you are not guarranteed to get back to the boat in time. If you go through the cruise line, the water taxi takes you straight from the ship to where you want to go and not to Belize City. They also bring you straight back to the ship in time.
Cozumel, Mexico
I grew up going to Cozumel so I know it well. There is tons to do on this island so you should spend your time wisely. I would suggest renting a car and driving to the back side of the island. It is beautiful, not very crowded, and the food is great. I would also suggest scuba diving because it is some of the best in the world.
Don't Miss:
Scuba and back side of the island.
Majahual, Mexico
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras
Scuba diving. The scuba is great. We researched ahead of time and found a local scuba shop to take us out. I recommend doing this because there was only 6 of us on the boat. The other 4 people only snorkeled so my boyfriend and I had our own scuba guide. We got two dives in and were back at the dock by 1pm.
Don't Miss:
Scuba.
