wonderful family cruise
by Jill P from Indianapolis
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
crew! Cabin stewerds, waiters, musicians all wonderful!
Cons:
the bathrooms seemed far away from restaurants and pools. elevators are hot.
This is a large ship so it is a bit difficult to find your away around quickly. The crew was fantastic! The cabin stewards and restaurant waiters were first rate! The quality of the musicians on board was such a bonus. The food was delicious.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Wish the public bathrooms were a bit bigger and nearer to the pools. Familiarize yourself with the layout before embarking on the ship. Very clean and lovely in every way.
Dining/Food
The dinner staff bent over backwards to help us with selections for our child with severe food allergies. The food was delicious with lots of different options. The restaurant with the upcharge was worth every penny.
Stateroom Quality
Perfect stateroom size with lovely balcony. Cabin stewards were exceptional.
Ship Staff Quality
Cabin stewards exceptional, waiters were too! Everyone was nice with out exception! Valentino went above and beyond in Boticelli's every night! The Brazilian lady who taught line dancing totally added to our trip!
Entertainment & Activities
wow- do you know how to have exceptional musicians! The string quartet was great! The pianists and dance bands were great too! I wish you had more opportunities for my single mom to find a dance partner though!

A relaxing 30th birthday get away
by A Traveler from Seattle, WA
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
No agenda, convenience of everything, no surprises, friendly staff, few children
Cons:
Early final day for disembarkment, sunburn
The ship was a bit dated, but we knew that coming into the cruise. Accordingly, we weren't disappointed. We understand the ship was updated in recent years, so there was nothing too severe, but overall, the ship felt its age. The furnishings in the room were clean, but showed their age.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Everything was very clean on the ship, but overall, it seemed dated. The decor would have been great if the TVs were playing Friends and Seinfeld, and if we were concerned about whether Y2K would really destroy the Internet. The size of the ship was just fine -- we never really felt that it was crowded, and we always had space to do what we wanted, when we wanted.
Dining/Food
The specialty options were good, but were limited to a steakhouse type place (that we didn't try) and an Italian place (that was nice). Overall the food was average to good, but I fear that I may have been too much of a food snob. At times the food tended to be bland, but there was always a wide selection. It would have been nice to have some more later night options (after 11pm), but I'm a bit of a night owl.
Stateroom Quality
The room was very clean, but dated. The bed wasn't terribly comfortable, and the bathroom was quite small, but that is all understandable on a cruise.
Ship Staff Quality
Overall the staff was extremely friendly and helpful. English was not the native language of many of the staff, which sometimes led to some confusion, but nothing serious. Most all requests were readily accommodated.
Entertainment & Activities
There was a variety of shows and activities, and we always felt that there was something that we could do, if we wanted to. It seems that a lot of the activities were geared to an older (i.e., retiree) crowd.

Mediocre cruise
by C. A. from San Francisco, California
Sailing date:
Dec 2009
Pros:
Good itinerary; visited 9 islands in two weeks
Cons:
Service from Horizon Court waiters was awfully lacking
It has been nearly a month since I went on a two week cruise with Princess from 12/21/09 to 01/04/10. It was called the Carribeab Collection cruise. The ship looked old and tired even though it was only a little over 10 years old. It needs refurbishing. Service was okay except in the Horizon Court Buffet Restaurant. Service was simply horrible. Some waiters would look the other way despite gestures for service. Other times, the wait was too long. I ended up getting my drink myself after my meal on the way out of the restaurant.

Dining/Food
Dining room food was so so. However, food at the Horizon Court buffet was very good.
Stateroom Quality
The room looked old but clean.
Ship Staff Quality
Cabin stewards and wait staff in the dining room were good. Waiters in the Horizon Court were atrocious. Service was slow and lacking.
Entertainment & Activities
Average.

Service
The ship is old; however, that is no excuse for the lack of maintenance. On every wall [just about] there was wallpaper bubbling up and peeling in just about every public stairway. There was a hole in the drapes. The metal on our balcony was rusted and had eroded from [what appeared to be bird droppings], the carpet was coming up and even torn in the public areas. The wood was deteriorating all over the ship. Now before you say hes just one of those that cannot be satisfied, please let me explain further. My wife and I are simple blue-collar workers. We worked all year, saving every penny to take this vacation. I realize this is an Ocean Vessel that is exposed to the elements and maintenance is an ongoing chore for the employees I can cut anyone some slack. But let me say this Princess is a multi-million [if not billion] dollar company. This ship should be retired or taken in for a major overhaul. Rust, wood decay, torn carpeting, paint, and seriously out dated dcor should be addressed by Princess. This ship does float it does sail fine it will take you where you want to go but put it this way it is just like a city bus big on functionality low on style. Book this ship as your first cruise and you likely will not take another. Im not being hateful just honest.

Ship Quality
Ship size is fine shes neither the biggest nor the smallest. You will find that the employee to passenger ratio is NOT good. Lets face it, the economy is in the tank and this affects all companies Princess is no exception. The employees are worked to death at least our cabin steward was. I was told by other passengers that the stewards went from 3-5 cabins to maintain to 9-10 cabins. That is HUGE when you watch what they do for you on a daily basis. Dcor like I said earlier was very outdated; now keep in mind that the ship is 10 years old and cruise ships had different ideas about fashion back then think of it as a 80s type ship. Gold everywhere, blue carpet, white travertine tiles. If you like to watch TV Land and re-runs of Starsky & Hutch, Charlies Angels, and Love Boat, then this is your ship! Cleanliness IS poor. The bathrooms [at least the Mens bathroom and yes, as a guy I know how funky a guys bathroom can be that is taken into account] were smelly and o
Dining/Food
Lets see where to begin. Food quality was horrible. Does that say it clear enough? Fruits were not ripe [unless you like green bananas, tart pineapple, mushy apples, tart grapefruit with a lot of seeds, and green cantaloupe]. A typical breakfast is hard scrambled eggs salmon locks with a film on the fish some undercooked potatoes of some configuration, and lots of bread. How do you screw up a ham & cheese omelet they managed time and time again. The coffee is institutional grade syrup this is fused with water as it comes out the spigot. If you want good coffee you got to pay end of story. By the way, can milk really be warm or room temperature all day long without consequences? Lunch was as much recycling as they could get away with. Integrate some institutional grade tuna fish sand witches, some bizarre foods no one could identify since the cooks were from Croatia and former Soviet block [no I am not slamming their origin they just have differing views on what food is] an
Stateroom Quality
They had to change out our bed mattress - put an eggshell cover on the bed - and put a piece of plywood under the mattress to level out the mattresses. The beds are HORRIBLE - not just ours - if you are expecting to get some rest on this ship - think again. Other passengers had the same experience - we asked - so it's not just me being over reactive.
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
If you like watching TV and movies on a big screen outside - this may be your kind of ship - otherwise - no rock climbing wall - no cool water slides - not the best talent at the shows but ...hey I will admit that after the first "taste" of the seminars/talks/shows/ and BINGO -we kind of dismissed the entertainment for the remainder of the cruise. The casino was O.K. - we actually won some money [or stayed even at least] so that was a bright spot.

A very comfortable and enjoyable trip.
by Matelock from Columbia, MD
Sailing date:
Feb 2007
Pros:
The availability of very reasonably priced cabins on a deck that is very accessible to several dininng rooms, shops, casino, information desks, and theatre.
I like the deck lay-outs and levels very much. Our room was on the same deck as one of the restaurants and one level below the casino. We like being near the art gallery and shops and theatre. My cabin commpanion has difficulty managing a lot of steps but could handle one flight with minimum difficulty. So having to move only one deck saved a lot of time not having to wait for an elevator. The open seating allowed us to vary our dinner time as needed. But the dining service could have been a lot better.

Not so good. Get the feeling of "give me your dollars and go back to your ship". Smiley but not friendly. Has not improved since the last time I was there, 4 years ago. Will try to avoid it in the future.
Majahual, Mexico
Is OK. Man made place.
Roatan (Isla Roatan), Bay Islands, Honduras
Great beach. Snorkeling is worth trying.
Don't Miss:
Rest by the beach.

The countryside is littered with trash and the people are diffident in the stall shops. The Zip line jungle adventure was great but too short.

Roatan is a gem. We were sad to leave.

The Botanical Gardens.
