Almost Perfect
by Jo-Ann M. from Indian Harbour Beach, FL
Sailing date:
Feb 2012
Pros:
Friendliness and helpfulness of the entire crew
Cons:
Ice tea was not available 24/7 and no lemonade
The Norwegian Sun was recently refurbished -- it is a lovely ship with a great crew. You are pampered without having to pay extra for any added attention -- not that we needed any, but I saw crew members go out of their way to help all those that needed it. It was truly a vacationers delight.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Food was good, the only thing I would recommend -- for the gentlemen or even ladies out there that are used to big portions at home -- order a double portion in the restaurants(your waiter/waitress will be more than happy to accomodate you)
Stateroom Quality
only one thing missing, a clock, otherwise absolutely no complaints -
Ship Staff Quality
You will leave the ship reluctantly, not just because you received excellent attention from the staff, but, because you developed a genuine fondness for all that you met .
Entertainment & Activities
My only complaint about entertainment -- it was hard to choose what to go to -- too many good shows at the same time - shucks darn - coulden't see them all.

Better than anticipated.
by Brant L. from South Carolina
Sailing date:
Jan 2012
Pros:
Cleaness of ship
Cons:
One of the musicals.
I was very impressed with every aspect of our cruise. The were continually cleaning and trying to make sure you were having a good time. One of the musicals we were disappointed with because of the references to drugs and sex, so we got up and left. But the good thing they had so much to do if you didn't like one thing you could find something else to do. They were misleading on the bingo game also because they would say someone will win 10,000 today and then would say you would have to win within so many numbers to win the big money after the game had started and you had already given them the money. But that was the only things we didn't like. I will definitely be cruising with Norwegian again because we were so impressed with everything we don't want to try any other cruise line.

Dining/Food
We ate only in the dining room because the food was so good it was better than any food I have eaten at any restaurants at home I didn't see the need to pay for the other ones.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & Activities
Other than the bingo scam and also the tasteless musical. We enjoyed it.

First timer with Norwegian
by A Traveler from NY
Sailing date:
Jan 2012
Pros:
The ports we visited
Cons:
That you needed to pay for specialty restaurants for better choices of food
First time with Norweign and traveled with carnival 4x so we only have that to compare too. The SUN attracted a much older crowd average age was 60 or higher (90 % of the ship). That didn't work well with my two teenage sons. Food choices could improve and especiality during later hrs after 10 pm.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Lounge area to see people interacted shows need to be larger and not enough seating to see the show. Uncomfortable seating in the main showroom.
Dining/Food
Specialty options is a big gimmick (extra money for Norweign). Not enough quality food choices for dinner and they should learn ((drinks come first Soda/water) with any meals
Stateroom Quality
Showers are tight -Its like taking a shower in telephone booth. The stateroom overall size/service was fine except shower.
Ship Staff Quality
The staff were professional and did there best to make our cruise a pleasant one.
Entertainment & Activities
The variety was fine but did expect more from the main shows at night.
Children's Programs
Zero choices for my teenage boys

A bit disappointing
by A Traveler from Greensboro, NC
Sailing date:
Dec 2011
Pros:
It was relaxing
Cons:
The food and dining room service was not what we would expect
I think that freestyle dining has deprived the passenger the opportunity to establish a relationship with the wait staff. Food is not hot when it comes. Too long a wait for food to be served. Lack of knowledge( often a language barrier) about the food they are serving. No one asked if we wanted wine with our meal. - each type we had to initiate the request for a wine list.

Good first cruise!
by Courtney C. from Siler City, NC
Sailing date:
Dec 2011
Pros:
The entertainment.
Cons:
The buffet food.
I really enjoyed the entertainment they had on board. The inside rooms were really big with the exception of the bathroom. The ship is very big on washing your hands. While entering the buffet whether just passing through or actually eating they are standing there as you enter the doorway with a spray bottle with hand sanitizer in it saying "washy washy, happy happy."
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
As far as the ship quality goes everything was more than what I had expected. It was really nice and easy to find locations on the ship.
Dining/Food
The quality of food in the buffet lines were not very enjoyable. I did not bring my kid but if I had there wouldn't of had anything for her to eat on board. There was some type of fish every day/night and all the other foods were not your average American, Asian, etc. foods. After the first night we went to the more formal dining on the ship, that food was much better than the buffet. Expected all the food to be great thought.
Stateroom Quality
Overall the room was much bigger than expected. Lots of storage. Bathroom was not very big and the shower was barely big enough for one person to stand in.
Ship Staff Quality
The ship staff was nice, no bad encounters with any of the staff on board.
Entertainment & Activities
I really enjoyed the entertainment/ shows they had at night. There could have been more activities during the day.

Amazing First Cruise
by A Traveler from Tennessee
Sailing date:
Oct 2011
Pros:
Ship Staff
Cons:
Cozumel was as expected, a bit dirty and pushy locals
Couldn't have asked for a better cruise with such a variety of ports
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Everything is on 5, 6, 7 and 11 floors. If you can get a room on the 6th floor that really helps.
Dining/Food
Wonderful variety every meal. Two formal halls are included, one will not allow you to wear shorts.
Stateroom Quality
Great size for three people. Nervous when I saw I would be sleeping on a fold out couch, but it was the best sleep I've ever gotten. Sheets were super soft.
Ship Staff Quality
I'm now spoiled. They go above and beyond to cater to any need.
Entertainment & Activities
Sing/dance show every night. Variety of music and activities for young and old.

Locals were very pushy, my dad got offered pot. Shopping was fun, it was a bit dirty, but still had a good time. San Gervasio is a great option to visit Mayan Ruins in about 2 hours. It is 30 minutes from port, $50 taxi both ways. Toured a Tequila place too. A little nervous to eat local places, so we ate at Senior Frogs.

San Gervasio - Ask for Rubun as your guide
Falmouth, Jamaica
My favorite! Yardie Tours - Dunn's River Falls was amazing. Scotchies for lunch with jerk chicken/pork. Super clean, just say no or walk away from locals...but they weren't as bad as all the reviews let them out to be. Nicest people of all the ports! Port isn't completed, but it will be soon and they really pull out all the bells and whistles to welcome you and say farewall. I didn't want to leave!

George Town, Grand Cayman
A nice change from pushy locals. Very upsale and classy island. Great shopping and very clean.
Great Stirrup Cay (Cruiseline Private Island), Bahamas
Like being in a dream! Norwegian is pouring big money into this place and it is arleady so much fun. Shaded beach areas, private areas, full sun...tons of activities and a small straw market.

This was my second cruise FIRST & LAST
by William S from Florida
Sailing date:
Oct 2011
Pros:
They only had evening entertainment but it was fair.
Cons:
being out in the rain and not permitted to enter the terminal and herded like cattle to be assigned a cabin and the extremely small portions offered at supper and the young kids running in the passage ways at all hours and not being able to contact anyone about it.
Was not enough things to do offered during the day,the meals that had beef were tough and the waitress showed indifference, drink prices were HIGH.The nightly entertainment was fairly good.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
The ship was kept clean.
Dining/Food
All meals were small and those with any beef were tough and to me unchewable.
Stateroom Quality
Room was kept clean and made up.
Ship Staff Quality
Most of the staff were good but a few were not willing to help.
Entertainment & Activities
Not enough day time activities.

This was my first cruise and I definitely will come back again someday. The activities on the cruise were awesome, very funny. Cons: Im not used to pay more than $5 for a beer. So, alcohol drinks I found it too expensive.

Not all I paid for !
by A Traveler from Macon, GA
Sailing date:
Dec 2010
Pros:
Food, shows, not overcrowded
Cons:
Port changes
This was my first cruise so I can't make a comparison, but I think there are better cruises to be had. I enjoyed the food, shows and overall feel of the ship but was dissappointed to have 2 of our 3 ports changed because of "technical difficulties" with one of the motors. After having to slow down they did what they could to compensate but I felt I didn't get what I paid for. We went to Samana, Dominican Republic and Great Stirrup Cay instead of St.Martin and St.Thomas. Weather happens and accidents happen but mechanical failures are preventable. As for the crew, they were great. They really make you feel welcome. Would I go again ? Yes, overall I did enjoy it.
