One and done by
A Traveler from north carolina Sailing date: Jul 2012Pros: Baltic Cities Cons: NCL I really had no expectations being my first cruise.
Would never have booked if NCL indicated smoking was ok for balcony cabins, but clearly it is. Not just outside, but inside. Horrible experience with guest services complaining about the adjacent cabin smelling up my room. Not recognized as a safety issue by guest services even though it's inside and no ashtrays are provided. Nothing was done about it after 3 complaints. Then, after the adjacent cabin had an "ice-bucket water spill" (so I was told) that required multiple industrial floor fans to dry the cabin and hallway out, the smoking suddenly stopped for the remainder of the trip. Coincidence? Who knows? But I am miffed that guest services ignored my complaints until my problem became theirs and much bigger.
Ship QualityThe boat is past its prime. Some facilities were lacking in equipment. Number of guests wore formal wear from time to time. I didn't fancy the ship to be of that caliber.
Dining/FoodNot bad. Better than cafeteria food, but not as good as bar and grill restaurants. Did not try premium restaurants. Stateroom QualityCabin wasn't too cramped. Have seen smaller bathrooms in NYC hotels. Ship Staff QualityFriendly, but not solutions oriented. A smile with little action is a let down. Entertainment & ActivitiesLousy for someone in their 40s. 8 out of 10 people found this review helpful.

This was my second cruise FIRST & LAST by
William S from Florida Sailing date: Oct 2011Pros: They only had evening entertainment but it was fair. Cons: being out in the rain and not permitted to enter the terminal and herded like cattle to be assigned a cabin and the extremely small portions offered at supper and the young kids running in the passage ways at all hours and not being able to contact anyone about it. Was not enough things to do offered during the day,the meals that had beef were tough and the waitress showed indifference, drink prices were HIGH.The nightly entertainment was fairly good. Ship QualityThe ship was kept clean. Dining/FoodAll meals were small and those with any beef were tough and to me unchewable. Stateroom QualityRoom was kept clean and made up. Ship Staff QualityMost of the staff were good but a few were not willing to help. Entertainment & ActivitiesNot enough day time activities.

  Horrible, Horrible, Horrible by
Carol C from Atlanta, GA Sailing date: Dec 2010Cons: Absolute disregard for customers Evidently their was a maintenance problem with the ship. Instead of going to St. Thomas and St Marrten, the decision was made to take us to Samana in the Dominican Republic and then to their own "private" island in the Bahamas. Samana was depolorable with beggers almost attacking people. We were close to several at least more acceptable destinations such as the Turks and Caicos, Puerto Rico, etc. but of course, I am sure the cruise line did not have to pay for port charges for the island and not much, if any, for Samana. The attitude of Norwegian was "too bad, so sad". I would never ever book another cruise with Norwegian. The cruise line has offered us another cruise with 30% off if booked within a year. In most cases, we could get a better deal elsewhere. Ship Quality

Ship Staff QualityThe ladies who greeted us at the buffet were very friendly and uplifting. The head of hotel services, head of guest services totally ignored the customers and were rude. Entertainment & Activities

  A bit disappointing by
A Traveler from Greensboro, NC Sailing date: Dec 2011Pros: It was relaxing Cons: The food and dining room service was not what we would expect I think that freestyle dining has deprived the passenger the opportunity to establish a relationship with the wait staff. Food is not hot when it comes. Too long a wait for food to be served. Lack of knowledge( often a language barrier) about the food they are serving. No one asked if we wanted wine with our meal. - each type we had to initiate the request for a wine list. Ship Quality

Bad experiences with room and pursers. by
Jan from West Palm Beach Sailing date: May 2006Pros: The spa. Room wet from day 1, no help from pursers office, said there was nothing they could do but dry our clothes, said nothing was available to move us to, per housekeeping that was a lie. On the 4th afternoon they moved us. Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment: Entertainment was great. 0 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

  Lovely Islands by
Sandi L from Albany, OR Sailing date: Mar 2013Pros: The itinerary Cons: The food The ship is sleek and pretty outside, but rather ho-hum and plain on the inside. The layout is sometimes difficult (having to go UP a level and then back down to get to where you want to go). Ship QualityThe ship was clean and pleasant, but not nearly as over-the-top lovely as others I have sailed. Dining/FoodThe food was by far the worst I have ever experienced on a cruise. It seems like the variety and quality gets worse each year. I would say that about 80% of the food was AWFUL and 20% was fair to excellent. I did not want to spend extra money on the specialty restaurants, but it seems like that may be the only way to find decent food. Stateroom QualityThe cabin was plain but adequate, and I splurged on a balcony for the first time, which I loved. Ship Staff QualityStaff was pleasant and thorough, but not nearly as warm and friendly as I have seen on other ships. Entertainment & Activities

  A really nice cruise by
A Traveler from Fairfax Station, VA Sailing date: Nov 2012Pros: The service, the treats and drinks served at pier after going ashore. Cons: The lack of variety of food served in main dining room. To repeitive. This is an older refurbished ship. It is lovely, clean and the staff attentive. The bath shower floods the floor. I was surprised to find that the TV was not flat screen. The balconey door was difficult to open. A plus, they discounted an excursion because the venue was late to arrive. A $30 onboard credit also added. Overall it is a nice ship. My main issue is the menu in main dining room was the same daily with only a few items changed. The food became boring. My major complaint is we had an early flight. We had to go to Guest Services for luggage tags. We were told that since we were not Platinum or Latitudes members we could not disembark before 9 am. We would have to carry our luggage off to insure we made the 11:15 flight. We are seniors but we did manage to carry them ourselves. We have sailed on several other lines without this problem. I'm not sure we will try this one again. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityThe stateroom was the best part of this cruise. The staff kept it immaculate. It's location was ideal for dining and activities. It was somewhat small for three people. Ship Staff Quality

A great way to hit lots of ports by
Todd C from Columbus, OH Sailing date: May 2012Pros: Seeing lots of different places in the 9 days Cons: Much too little time in Stockholm The ship was spacious and clean, well appointed: about what I expected. The specialty restaurants were a great option. I thought the elevator atrium was less ornate and less of a showpiece than other ships I've been on, which was interesting. Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Stateroom QualityThe interior cabins laid out parallel to the hallway (instead of perpendicular) are quite spacious. A very pleasant surprise compared to my other two cruises. Ship Staff Quality
Entertainment & ActivitiesI enjoyed a few classes in the fitness classroom, which was nice to have apart from the workout room with all the equipment. 2 out of 2 people found this review helpful.

  First timer with Norwegian by
A Traveler from NY Sailing date: Jan 2012Pros: The ports we visited Cons: That you needed to pay for specialty restaurants for better choices of food First time with Norweign and traveled with carnival 4x so we only have that to compare too. The SUN attracted a much older crowd average age was 60 or higher (90 % of the ship). That didn't work well with my two teenage sons. Food choices could improve and especiality during later hrs after 10 pm. Ship QualityLounge area to see people interacted shows need to be larger and not enough seating to see the show. Uncomfortable seating in the main showroom.
Dining/FoodSpecialty options is a big gimmick (extra money for Norweign). Not enough quality food choices for dinner and they should learn ((drinks come first Soda/water) with any meals Stateroom QualityShowers are tight -Its like taking a shower in telephone booth. The stateroom overall size/service was fine except shower. Ship Staff QualityThe staff were professional and did there best to make our cruise a pleasant one. Entertainment & Activities
The variety was fine but did expect more from the main shows at night.
Children's ProgramsZero choices for my teenage boys 1 out of 3 people found this review helpful.
