"A Peaceful Cruise!"
by Lisa S. from Memphis, TN
Sailing date:
Jun 2010
Pros:
Excellent Service
Cons:
Most of the activities were for an older crowd
It is a very clean ship that offers numerous opportunities to view the changing landscapes.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
It's an older ship. It is well maintained nonetheless it makes a noises every now and then.
Dining/Food
The waiters are great! And the bread pudding is wonderful.
Stateroom Quality
My room was very clean and so comfortable that I didn't want to leave it. It had lots of storage space.
Ship Staff Quality
I was sea sick the first two days. The staff cared for me like I was a member of their family.
Entertainment & Activities
The shows were good. I especially enjoyed the lectures on the Alaska's Native American tribes and Alaska's Aviation Pioneers "Bush Pilots"

Wonderful cruise ding vows at this time
by Lloyd from Hernando Beach, FL, USA
Sailing date:
Feb 2006
Pros:
Quiet, relaxed atmosphere. Great meals and cleanliness.
It was a wondeful vacation. We really enjoyed ourselves. I would recommend Holland America To everyone especially the middle age and up group. There is no noise from parties at night to keep you awake. It was simply a wonderful cruise. We also renewed our wedding vows on our 20th anniversary which was wonderful. Everyone was so nice, especially the Captain and his wife. Its an experience we'll never forget.

Alaska to Vancouver, B.C. on the Ryndam
by Libby D. from Oregon
Sailing date:
May 2010
Pros:
Workshops, food and entertainment
Cons:
Long walks from our aft stateroom to the elevators
My first cruise, from Seward, Alaska through the Inland Passage to Vancouver, B.C.,,accompanied by two friends, turned out to be fun-filled and surprisingly educational. Gourmet food beautifully presented, hospitable crew members, great shows with Broadway veterans, and valuable workshops made the 7-night trip very worthwhile.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
I am elderly with health problems, so the long walks from my stateroom to the many activities was somewhat taxing, but could not be avoided.
Dining/Food
Great chef.
Stateroom Quality
There were three of us sharing the stateroom (the third person had free passage) and the hide-a-bed was not very comfortable. The first couple days, the third person did not seem to be included in some of the amenities, but that was corrected.
Ship Staff Quality
All crew members greeted us smilingly, whether they were taking care of us or not. Requests for help were always answered. Complementary breakfast brought to our stateroom, chocolates every evening, extra towels shaped cunningly into turkeys, fish and dogs.
Entertainment & Activities
Broadway quality singers and dancers. Great master of ceremonies. Enjoyable show put on by the Indonesian crew. I won some Holland America luggage as member of a winning Trivia team.

The visit to the cannery was disappointing as it was not operating at that time. We just looked at the facility. The Raptor Center was worthwhile.

We just missed the release of baby salmon which would have made the Macauley Salmon Hatchery visit more enlightening.

The visit with Tlingit people in their Beaver Clan House was worth every minute.

Relax, relax, relax
by D A from Florida
Sailing date:
Mar 2013
Pros:
Eagerness of the crew to assist
Cons:
paying extra for premier restaurants-won't
Smaller than I was used to but very comfortable. Verandah larger than used to and could venture out when at sea if not too rough. Common areas had enough seating and beverage service was always available throughout the day and evenings.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Dining/Food
Lido was best bet. Never too crowded. Great selection of food. Dining room on formal nights has nice choices. Open dining plan is wonderful. Walk up, be seated.
Stateroom Quality
Ship Staff Quality
Cabin stewards always willing to assist. But you have to ask for what you want once, then leave it to them. i.e. bottled water, ice, fresh fruit.
Entertainment & Activities
Smaller ship, don't expect flamboyant "Vegas" type shows. But, the talent was good. Comics very entertaining. Could use a few more activities on board on port days. At sea days the activities were better.

Positives and Negatives
by Mark T. from Minneapolis, MN.
Sailing date:
Mar 2012
Pros:
Destinations (Key West, Belize, Honduras & Costa Maya) were amazing!
Cons:
Food variety and quality was less than stellar
Nice enough ship. Very old demographic, but I liked that better than a ship with a million kids.
Ship Details:
Ship Quality
Older Ship, but no complaints.
Dining/Food
Lido Buffet was poor and hours limited. Ryndam dining room was hit or miss. Some good dinner others VERY poor.
Stateroom Quality
Typical stateroom.
Ship Staff Quality
Great staff, very friendly.
Entertainment & Activities
Entertainment was aimed at an older demographic (65+)

Worst cruise we've ever been on!
by OlesyaL from san diego
Sailing date:
Dec 2011
Pros:
Our cruise excursions
Cons:
Service, food, quality of the boat
The Service was horrible!!! The staff looked tired, unenthusiastic, sad, overworked, extremely SLOW, not helpful at all!! You couldn't serve yourself at the buffet and the server took FOREVER to make u a salad or a sandwich! The lunch hours were short an we were mostly stuck eating greasy hamburgers outside since there was no other food options! Once I was getting a sandwich made, and they ran out of lettuce so the server had to go in the back and look for more, when he came back he had a whole head of lettuce that he started chopping and the overall time to make one sandwich took him over ten minutes, while the line of 20 people waited! How can u only have ONE GUY working a station during busy lunch time! Our layout chairs were broken and my towels had blood stains on them Our Hallway had brown and pee color stain all over and it smelled horrible! We didn't have set dinner seating so we were constantly waiting for a table The ship looked old, music speakers were broken and we listened to static most of the time. At one time my husband went to the bar to get a beer, but was told that they ran out and was asked to go find server and tell him that the bar needed more beer! Can u believe it!
