We had a wonderful cruise! by A Traveler from Florida
Sailing date: Aug 2009

Pros:
The cleaniness of the ship and the staff

Cons:
Lack of late night eating choices

For being our first time on a cruise, we had a great time. The ship was clean, the staff would bent over backwards to assist you and the food was good. Just wish there were more choices than just pizza for late night snacking.

Bahamas Cruise---my first one by Michelle T from Georgia
Sailing date: May 2009

Pros:
Good food & entertainment

Cons:
Tiny room

The ship was pretty clean. There were plenty of things to do, but I think it was more for an "older crowd". Nothing much for 20-30 somethings, except the bar. Service was wonderful! We were late getting to Nassau which caused us to miss our excursion, but we had bad weather, so it really wasn't anybody's fault. Definately worth the price!

Good time despite challenges by Karen and Robin from Titusville, FL
Sailing date: Oct 2009

Pros:
Two twins combined to make a pretty comfy queen bed.

Cons:
Too much constant emphasis on tipping everyone. Music in the shows was far, far too loud.

We got a last minute, cheap cruise and were satisfied with the value for our money. The food was OK. The fitness center needs quite a bit of maintenance to the equipment and updating to the equipment. The classes were extra (yoga, pilates) and I think they should have been included. The wait staff was not very clued in to anything ... including getting our orders right ... but we enjoyed it anyway. Due to weather, we did not stop at Cococay because the seas were too rough for the tender ... disappointing but not much you can do about mother nature. The climbing wall was not open very much.

We had a lot of pretty basic questions because of the missed stop at Cococay but no one seemed to know the answers. Almost every time we had a simple question (like when do we dock, when do we leave, etc.), the staff did not know.

The Love and Marriage Game Show was hilarious! The fitness trainer and talks/sessions all revolved around one thing: buy our detox supplements. The comedy night was good. The song/dance shows were good (but too loud).

Had lots of fun! by Kammi N. from Lakeland, Fl
Sailing date: Jun 2009

Pros:
The service was great!! CoCo cay was so relaxing...

Cons:
uhm ... my son wish it had a slide in the pool.

It's a smaller ship ,but big also. There is so much to do, the food was yummy. It was our 2nd cruise with Royal Caribbean.. well worth our money!

My only Royal Caribbean disappointment by A Traveler from Jacksonville, FL
Sailing date: Sep 2012

Pros:
Very warm and friendly staff

Cons:
Not the typical Royal Caribbean food. This cruise offered VERY limited choices. The only options were sub par. NOT AT ALL the usual Ryal Caribbean experience:(

I am a HUGE fan of Royal Caribbean. For me, they have always been the best and only way to go. This was on the smaller class of ships and did not make a good impression on the 2 first time cruisers I brought with me. Our stateroom toilet was out of order the entire trip. Someone came out multiple times to try and repair it to no avail. The food selection was non existent. The buffet had very limited hours. Not much to do on this ship in the way of activities. The onboard stores were rarely opened. The staff was the one saving grace who, as usual were amazing.

Children's Programs
An email sent to me a few months ago talked about a new Royal babies and tots program. They were supposed to offer babysitting for a fee of $8 per hour for children under age 3. Once I inquired onboard I was told the fee was $19 per hour with a 2 hour minimum, at a time that they could pencil you in. I was told it would be with 2 staff members in MY STATEROOM!?! No thank you!

Great Cruise by Stephen C. from Atlanta, GA
Sailing date: Sep 2012

Pros:
Great Food, Service and Entertainment

Cons:
Late Night Buffet

We had a great trip on the Monarch of the Seas. The ship is old and small but was great for a short 4 night cruise. They kept the ship very clean and the staff was awesome, we didn't have a bad service experience the whole trip. If you just want a relaxing trip to lounge by the pool and enjoy the port stops, you will like this ship. If you are looking for a ton of activities on the ship, you might need to look at one of the newer ships. For the price this was an incredible deal.

What a Great Trip! by April B. from Denver, CO
Sailing date: Oct 2011

Pros:
Our dinner staff was amazing!

Cons:
The overhead music was poor, kept repeating the same 4 songs over and over and over.....

The ship was obviously a little older but it didnt take away from its charm. A little smaller than I expected so if you're looking for alot to do, this isnt your ship. Still the shows were good, the staff friendly and very helpful.

The rooms had a slight odor, but placing a towel over the drain in the bathroom helped. Also, being in an inside stateroom its got to be expected. (Bring a littleGlade plug-in helps alot!)

They have a great low-cal menu with decent options, even though I didnt choose off it...haha The quality was very good, would like to have more options than pizza for late night snacking... we chose the late dinner seating and was very grateful for it..we had one close call after an excursion getting to dinner just in the knick of time for primerib (AMAZING!!!!!)

Decent cruise for the money by Rita from Rochester
Sailing date: Mar 2010

Pros:
Friendly and helpful staff

Cons:
The weather ;-(

Our materials said not to arrive at Port Canveral before 1:30. Our hotel told us you can get on much earlier. Most of the people seemed to be aboard by 1:30 and our room was available at 1:00. (One of the staff said they say 1:30 in case there is a surprise inspection or something.) Port Canaveral is a great port, easy to find, great parking. Getting on and off the ship there went very smoothly, The weather was sunny but cool and windy (early March). No one was in the pool. We couldn't go to the private island because it was too rough for the tenders. They had other activities to fill the time. Food and entertainment were good, but not as good as I remember. Waiters were very accomodating for those who wanted extra appetizers or desserts. They made recommendations as to what to order and avoid --these were good suggestions except the steak on two days was too tough to cut with a steak knife. The cruise material we had prior to the trip made it sound like getting wine was a hassle. Our waiters said if we ordered a bottle and didn't finish it we could leave it for the next night or take it to the room. The wine list was extensive. There was adequate storage space in the stateroom. A couple nights when we returned to the room, the stateroom attendant had made animals out of towels--very cute. In Nassau we took a $3 water taxi to Altantis. There are "tour guides" on the water taxis suggesting where to go--good suggestions. Overall, a decent time!
